I know this video is a few years old now, but it was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! I'm an Amex Cobalt user and was trying to decide between transferring points to Aeroplan or Avios. Sounds like Aeroplan is the way to go.
Great stuff! I use a few of them as well on my trips and I found that at times it is handy to alternate between loyalty programs to get the flights i need. Sometimes there are either no seats available, redemption mileages is too expensive or the partner airlines don't fly the route. Juggling between them and transferring balances to top up one or the other to secure the trip legs needed takes this to a whole new level..
Yes. That's why having transferrable points can be so worthwhile, because you can transfer the points to the right mileage partner at a moment's notice
Im glad I came over your video. Im excited about this churning game. can you do a video on points transfer, as in when I cancel a card, how can i keep the points available and still being able to accumulate more points the next time I apply for the same card, or apply another similar credit card?
Also can you do another video on the more complicated things like connection times and all the other things you mentioned? If you break them down into a one subject playlist, it might be easier to ingest lol. And for those interested, they can continue down the play-list. Truthfully, as a nursing student I have very little time to do research on my own, being swamped with assignments, capstone projects and hospital placements. This has helped me alot and I hope you continue to break things down and simplify traveling.
I have redeemed Aeroplan in the past at amazing value! 1) 2 business class one way flights in Air Canada Business Class from DEL --> YYZ for 150K Aeroplan points + 250 CAD in Taxes/Fees 2) 1 business class one way flight in Turkish Airlines from DEL --> YYZ for 75K points + $50 in Taxes/Fees. Hoping these redemption are now even better with the revamped Air Canada Aeroplan program.
I have been a frequent flyer to SE Asia for 15 years now. I focus on Aeroplan and formerly CX ...but I never thought about Alaskan airlines. BRB ... applying for that MBNA card
Could you do a detailed video about one of your mini round the world trips? Like which airlines did you use for each segment of the trip (ie toronto to ghana, ghana to turkey etc), and whether the round the world trips are only possible with aeroplan or can we transfer our points to one specific program (ie alaska miles) and use partners to fly around. A through example would really help, delving into the specific steps you went through.
I collect Avios points because I live in the UK. They have given me a one way from Madeira to London for me and my two children. To get there we took Easy Jet to Porto for a few days and then took it again over to Madeira. We went around the world mostly using low cost airlines. It would have been too expensive to fly from Los Angeles to London so we flew to Stockholm. Then the Avios points let us fly to London one way. On our next trip we are using Avios to see Antigua and Tobago.
They're a useful currency to earn on the side, but won't really be helpful in terms of flying internationally or in business class. They're best used for short-haul, last-minute domestic flights. More info here: princeoftravel.com/air-miles-guide
For the mini around the world how do you add 3 stops in ur example you said Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo? On the site when I add another leg it only let me do 2 stops. For example Toronto to Taiwan , Taiwan to Tokyo, Tokyo to Toronto. On the site it wouldn't let me add another stop.
You can only book a trip like this online if you have up to 2 stops (1 stopover + 1 destination). If you have 3 stops (2 stopovers + 1 destination), you have to call Aeroplan to book over the phone.
Very useful! Alaska flies from Edmonton to Seattle, so from there you can connect to South America via American Airlines or LATAM, or Asia via Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, or Hainan Airlines.
Not really. Amex to Bonvoy is 2:1, and then Bonvoy to airlines is 3:1, so even when you factor in the 30% bonus it's much lower than the 1:1 ratio from Amex to Aeroplan/BA Avios.
