I love my TML! I have the basic setup which is one of everything. They have a key light now which is a long panel light and I'm saving for that. I took a lighting class for makeup artists and she used these lights. Very valuable class by Sara Sideman Vance.

Angie, lovely! very thorough review. Thank you. I thought I’d add the I use the magic mount on solid surfaces like stainless steel, man made surfaces like Formica and many cabinets are made from the same. So refrigerators, showers, microwaves. Etc. looking forward to meeting you one day.

Another great way to use the clamp is to clamp it to your luggage or zuca handle! I saw Melissa Street do this and thought it was the smartest thing. Basically, you're able to use it like if you had a tripod stand without having to carry one. I've used the magic mount on glass, mirrors, tiles, and plastic-y materials similar to what some bath/showers are made of. I only have the one light, and while it would be nice to have two, just having one is definitely more than adequate and a huge help!

I've used the magic mount on laminate cabinet doors, glass, mirrors (TV panel gasp! It was mine tho) the surface needs to be clean and free of any dust or debris. It won't stick well. otherwise. (I spray some rubbing alcohol and wipe it down and let that evaporate to ensure the surface is clean.) I usually just use the clamp as there is usually a place I find to use it. (I only have one right now.) I need to get the 2.0 system. Or the eye light panels.

Great suggestion Antonio but I've got to be honest - I find very few products actually universal (minus things like mascara, eyeliner etc.) because I do so much beauty focused work I can really see when products aren't quite the right shade or have enough pigment for deeper skin tones. I'll think a little bit more about this and see if I can come up with something.

You’d have to find some sort of small daylight balanced LED panel with a stand and carrying case. I would do a search on RU-vid - a lot of photographers will have product recommendations for inexpensive lighting panels.

I have a question. Do they offer protection plans? Like warranty or insurance for your lighting equipment? If they do not offer those type of services, do you have a protection plan?

Here is the info on the TML site regarding warranty: themakeuplight.com/pages/terms-conditions I'm not sure where you live, but here as a freelancer in Toronto, we are only able to have contents insurance. If my kit is damaged in my home or car from a flood, tornado, fire, accident etc. I would be able to get some compensation for it. Other than that outside of the brand warranty, it is my responsibility to take care of the items I own.

Can't the suction be used on mirrors as well, instead of Magic Mount? Vice versa, can Magic Mount be used on glass surfaces, windows, sliding doors? I love how thorough this is. Thank you Angie!

Thanks! Yes to all - if you are ever in doubt TML has all the info about what surfaces they recommend using the mounts on, on their website as well. They also have pictures of different mounting scenarios.

So I’m actually having an issue with my plug for whatever reason the prongs are inverted instead of protruding as if I had put in one of the plug adapters and I don’t know how to get my prints back to normal 😭😭🥺🥺

If someone is just a consumer, and just using it for putting make up on in their bathroom, would you recommend buying this and if so which one? Thank you so much :)

It might be a little overkill for the bathroom plus you would need to be able to plug in the two power adapters for both lights. You may want to look at the Eyelight if you are looking for something to mount in your bathroom or maybe look at the Glamcor Riki Skinny mirror which I use to apply my own makeup.

It is not comparable to a ring light. They are completely different price ranges and are two completely different types of lighting.

Thank you soo much angie for answering .. so you mean to say lighting effect or the result of both lights are completely different ? Cos i need a light to take pictures of my clients / brides etc .. can you do a video on comparing both lights and with demo and pics / video result i am sure most of the people like are searching for for this content

I don't have a ring light any more and my preference is two separate lighting sources for even lighting for work and photos/video. There are better quality ring lights on the market now that come with different colour temperatures and they all get quite bright, so it's really up to you to decide what you can afford, what you want to transport and what will work for your needs as an artist. Glamcor and The Makeup Light are my two recommendations because they are well made, designed for artists, and transport easily.

Can you please compare the glamcore lighting you got and the makeup light.. what’s the difference? Are they both as affective as far as being able to see the makeup clearly? The price difference is crazy

Elizabeth Gonzalez i started with the Glamcor classic elite and the light leans green. I didn’t realize this until I got TML. looking at photos of the makeup under these lights makes it very apparent. TML Is more cumbersome to set up and carry around but has superior lighting.

Kearston French Perfect Thanks GIRL this is what I needed to know about the difference in the lights! I know exactly what your saying! I have the Neewer ring light and it gives a yellow tint in my pictures and I hate it.... now I know difference between the Glamcore and the TML!!! Yay!!! thank you for seeing my question and taking the time to answer it!!! I will invest in the TML for sure no doubt!!!

Hey everyone in this thread - I just wanted to add the tints you are seeing in the photos have to do with the colour temperature your Glamcor/other lighting system is set to. When you have blue, green, or yellow casts this can be adjusted (depending on the system) and there is nothing wrong with the light itself. Both the Glamcor and TML systems that I have reviewed can give you daylight balanced lighting.

She is reviewing the most expensive 2-panel kit version with almost all mount options and the nicest carry-bag. You can get the smaller kits with only 1 light and less accessories/mounts starting at around $300. They also just added an easy pay option that splits it into 4 payments - which I would have loved when I first bought mine.
