40 years later that intro is still the business! I didn't know it took that long to build that model city. HBO had the vision, talent and budget to pull it off
There was just something about the very early 80s from MTV to HBO’s 1983 Opening. To this day, I’m still amazed by that city and still think Martha Quinn is the coolest. A lot had changed in 40 years but at least Tom Cruise still packs the theater seats!
Millenials and Zoomers will never understand how exciting it was for us young Gen X'ers to see and hear that classic HBO intro. It meant there was a really good movie coming on with NO commercials and that was a special treat in those days. You have to realize that 98% of us only had the three networks channels and PBS, so watching HBO for movies was like a really cool experience. Some of my best memories were watching "Poltergeist" and "Rocky 3" on HBO.
This is futuristic compared to HBO's modern automated programming.. So much heart and soul put into something to make an illusion.. Such quality HBO programming had back in the day with So much talent put behind it.. Today corporations would rather hire one graphic artist and let a computer and software create something instead of REAL talent by multiple people creating something like this.. This goes to show you that computer technology can't replace what REAL people working together and creating REAL talent.. But then again it's much cheaper to use computers these days instead of buying all that material, and paying all those people.. It's a quantity world these days, quality is gone.. If anything, they should just go back to using this..
I remember this as a kid back in the early 80s. It gave me the creeps especially after watching the HBO debut of The Amityville horror 2 : the possession. I don't know why but every time I seen this after that I always associated it with the movie. Just a silly kid I guess.
Wow!! This is so amazing! Months of trial and error in creating an amazing piece of art. I am artist myself, specializing in photography and painting. 😎😎😎
