Same. I was born a month and a half after it's original release. Video game movie adaptations are as old as I am. So I feel weirdly fond of this movie as well.

I don't care what anyone says this movie Is an early 90's classic and one of my favorite videogame adaptations. Fun movie , actually pretty dark In tone for a Mario film. It had a great cast , and this was back when practical and special FX were still creative and original (weather Ideas worked or not at least they tried back then). Who remembers the slow song Bob Hopskins was dancing to with Big Bertha when he was trying to get back the metorite necklace , "I Would Stop The World" - by Charles & Eddie.

Yeah, I think the core of a good movie is in there but there were just too many cooks in the kitchen for it to work, leaving its impressive parts to go underappreciated. Thanks for watching!

It's a shame because I think there was a genuine passion on the directors' part to make the movie something more canonical that would explain the origins of the Mario Bros and the Mushroom Kingdom, but there were too many cooks in the kitchen and it just came out a mess. Thanks for watching!

Gamers would love to see a true adaptation of their favorite video game if done right. The problem is it's never done right. Except now. I predict that the new Mario movie will be an instant billion dollars.

Yeah, there are often too many cooks in the kitchen and a lot of them probably aren't familiar with the game or its fanbase, so you just end up with a homogenised action movie. At least the new Mario has had Shigeru Miyamoto at the helm, so it at least has an even footing to be successful.

Agreed. 1990s videogame movie adaptations were all embarrassing: Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter, and Double Dragon! I purchased advanced tickets, and I want to see Illumination's movie in Real D 3D.😎

@@AMPlayem The 1993 Super Mario Bros. film in its final stage felt like a poor man's Blade Runner/Die Hard with references to the Mario games thrown in...learning about how messy the film's development was, I could definitely see why!

@@Justin-Hill-1987 Yep, it has this really confusing tone somewhere between dystopian sci-fi and Disney comedy. It would be interesting to see the original idea executed properly but I guess Mario is just too rigidly seen as a family-friendly character for them to change up the formula too wildly.

I'm not sure what Clement and LaFrenais had in mind when they were writing it but yeah, it feels so disconnected from the Mario universe.

A movie can be this terrible But there's just something about the 80's and 90's That charm... The whole movie has that beautiful 90's charm that we'll never get back. Here's to hoping the new movie will be good!

Yeah, it's interesting how over time people can develop nostalgia even for films like this. I've even grown kinda fond of it after researching it so deeply and seeing it for what it really is. I'm looking forward to seeing the new one too!

1:05 never seen this scene before when after Koopa fell inside and changed into his true self and he's still there, as a re-creating scene of Koopa in a Clown propeller in Super Mario World as final boss. Where can I see it full scene?!
