Chris Benoit is the only man WWE Erased Topics in this video:- 1. The Man WWE Quietly Erased Forever 2. WWE Erased Him Forever 3. Wrestlelamia 4. You Will Never See This Man In WWE Ever Again
I remember when Terry Funk debuted in 85', he roughed up Phillips real bad to get heat with the crowd. I wonder if he knew about this, hence why he worked him so stiff?...
There are episodes of Wrestling Challenge on Peacock with him ring announcing he ring announced on Wrestling Challenge till mid 88 when Mike McGurk started and up until him being fired in 1992 he would occasionally sub for Fink or McGurk at tv tapings
Can’t believe people don’t wanna defame him cuz he’s dead, that’s stupid and it doesn’t matter how cool his legacy was, he mingled sexually with little boys and that’s not cool.
You just know his firing wasn't a case of "You sick, evil predator... get out and hope I don't sic Andre on you!" but rather "HAHAHA you got caught, pal! Can't be having that! Go lay low for a while."
This is a story that gets so messed up when retold it’s sad. This guy was in WWE for a long time. It wasn’t until the early 1990’s when this info came out mainly because the only people who spoke out prior weren’t credible because they were known homophobic, racists, or both (which is how Pat Patterson also got lumped in when he had nothing to do with this). That’s why he got hired back. Even the authorities questioned the credibility of the wrestlers accusing him because of their own sketchy backgrounds. That lead to Vince believing Phillips was being railroaded. It wasn’t until the ring boys themselves said something when they got older that he finally understood who this guy really was. Pro wrestling in the 1980’s was a dark era and people forget it was very easy to hide your private life from people before twitter and Facebook. Just because we know about stuff now doesn’t mean it was common knowledge then.
The ringboys themselves also indicated Pat Paterson as not only complicit, but somewhat of the ringleader. Why is Pat Paterson, judging by the comments here, receiving a pass all the sudden?
Most notably he's the guy shaking his hand and saying "no no no no" to Mary Hart (no relation to the wrestlers) ringing the bell early at wrestlemania 3 during hogan and andre. This shot in recent releases is replaced by a crowd shot of a hogan banner before going to the ring staredown.
The grey building (Where the news lady conducting and interview with one fella) is Channel 12 news located in Norwalk, C.T. I know of this is because I lived not far from it. As a former Connecticut resident, the McMahons are big time and of course It makes sense for Vinny to bring back Mr. Phillips.
As a youth we had pay phones if you wanted to call someone. I believe it was 25 cents and had a time limit. Cell phones didn't come about to the masses until 1990. I was the first to get one and my first bill was 500 because they charged by the minute.
@@dbig48d could you call a payphone from an outside number? He would have had a black book full of payphone numbers if so. How would he know when to call? Would they be waiting for a call? Lol it all confuses me.
@lilpimp994 understand. I was in my storage the other day and my son was with me. He asked what was that. It was my old fax machine. That's when I realize a lot of you younger folks don't know how we communicated before cell phones and home PC's. It was a big box on every corner. And yes, each one had its own number to It. If you knew the number people could call you but you had to be there because anyone hearing the ring could answer. I knew some people that would have people call the payphone because they didn't have a phone in the house. Just had to be there at the time they called.
@@dbig48d Wow I was born in 94 and never knew you could call a payphone. Those cheesy movies with someone calling the payphone make sense now lol. You learn something new every day. Thanks for informing me. :)
Mel Phillips: the black Dan Schneider. I vividly remember the early 90s Ring Boys scandal very well as that was a horrible situation that(along with WCW's then super popularity) almost deep sixed the WWF(which later became the WWE).
Mel Phillips is a legend He is the best ring announcer in the history All those who hate him are just scumbags. WWE should honor him and add him to their video games.
The part of Cole recounting being pushed away by Phillips reminds me of the kids in Leaving Neverland where the guy says that MJ stopped calling and letting him come by. He was being replaced by newness and a unrestricted kid.
Do a RU-vid search of Ted DiBiase vs. Virgil for the Million Dollar Belt at the Survivor Series Showdown from late 1991 at the Survivor Series Showdown. He is announcing at that show. It's one of his last major shows before he disappeared. He was only around for another few months after that.
When I worked in an arena in the late 80s/90s, everyone knew that he was a creep. Even non-white people. The story goes that he was at an arena in New England and he was caught, in a car, doing his thing with a minor. He was properly tuned up by security, reported to then WWF, and thrown out of the building. We found out later that most of the arenas in the North East knew about him and told their supervisors to watch him and make sure he wasn’t left alone with minors. It was around that time that refs took over the ring crew and they hired locals talent to do ring announcing for house shows. Of course, they were almost broke at that time, so… Patterson was never, ever found with kids and there wasn’t even a whisper of it. His partner travelled with him on occasion. He was accused of assaulting male talent, but the cops never made anything stick. And, of course, the Donahue episode didn’t work out as planned.
Honestly I’m surprised it took this long for these allegations to come out about Vince he’s been accused multiple times of Sexual Assault and I always wondered how it just always went away now we know he was paying them off
Vince hired so many predators and he always kept those employees by his side. Which is crazy became McMahon was abused as a child so you’d think he’d hate predators
You can’t block people from working because of allegations. You get sued for that kind of act. Vince probably had a talk with lawyers, hence the rehiring.
it explains why Hulk Hogan shoved him here in the middle of the ring during an event in Japan back in 1991. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ndUcbKEL8T4.html . 2:50 mark
Chris Benoit should be mentioned. Acting like he never existed is a low blow to other wrestlers who had lots of matches and moments with him like Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle. I can understand not to praise him, but act like he never existed is BS and unfair to others who had great matches and moments of their career linked to Benoit.
It’s unfair to the 7 year old and his mother who lost their lives too, so that’s completely overshadowing anything he’s ever done stop taking up for a murderer.
