"False memories" is fine for one or 2 people, or even a group traumatized by an event. But NOT MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people!!

I am retired US Navy. I served for a bit in California, and spent 2 weeks in Concord CA. This is pertinent. There was a huge munitions explosion there (well, in nearby Port Chicago) in 1944. We got to see a film about it (as my unit happened to be a munitions unit). In said film the OTHER big munitions explosion was mentioned. The one in HALIFAX, Nova Scotia! Where a munitions ship blew up. Now DON'T YOU THINK that a MILITARY unit such as ours would have ALSO learned (in said film, say) about another munitions explosion close to NYC???? That damaged the Statue of Liberty????? Yeah. Also, I've been taught all my life (including my TWENTY YEARS in the US MILITARY) that before Pearl Harbor only Pancho Villas managed to make a direct attack on American soil - but now supposedly it became known in the 1930s that a couple of GERMAN SPIES scored? Why wasn't this mentioned in all the stuff about the 9/11 attacks? I mean WTF???? Plus I have read several times about how the torch used to be open, was repaired, opened again, but finally closed because of safety reasons. As in, well into the 20th century. Scientists have told us there ARE parallel worlds, BTW. There's strange science out there. I love how a possible way such weirdness does affect us is being dismissed so easily. Memory can be faulty. Certainly. But usually it's a personal WTF experienced only by YOU, cause it's your own brain making the false connections. Also, I can see how a song lyric can be misheard by many and then perpetuated, or 2 public events occurring at the same time can be merged (ie Mandela & Stephen Biko, for instance). But when there are logic holes involved (as in this Tom Island explosion) that's not working for me. I was taught (and TOLD IN THE US MILITARY) that the sinking of the Lusitania got us into WWI. I'm hardly uneducated. So don't even try me on this. It makes little sense as stands, sorry.

In other words, the scientists have no explanation for the Mandella effect. This is the 1st time I've ever heard of the Black Tom incident

My husband told me in 1989 he did go up into the torch, commenting they only allowed 5 people at a time due to the narrow stair structure. He told me this in 1990.Also, lady liberty was always on ELLIS ISLAND. I am 51 years old and was taught until 9-11 the U.S.A. was never touched by anything to do with war or foreign invaders. IT IS TOTALLY A QUANTUM SHIFT MY DEAR SIR! Thank you/

My grandparents took my cousin and I to New York City in August 2001. During that time we went to see the Statue of Liberty. I remember it being on Ellis Island because we went to look up my great-grandparents immigration records from when they arrived right after we walked by the statue. I remember seeing people at the top of the statue and I even asked my grandpa if we could climb it and he said "not today, papa can't climb that!" lmao! I specifically remember seeing people AT THE TOP. I also remember seeing Ellis Island merchandise being sold right under the Statue of Liberty

This entire thing seems like a Mandela Effect to me. I don't ever remember learning about the Black Tom explosion in school or anywhere else. I do remember 9/11 very clearly. And in all of the news coverage that day, there were plenty of references to Pearl Harbor, and how 9/11 was the second time in our history that we had a foreign attack on US soil. Nobody mentioned Black Tom once. I always grew up hearing that Pearl Harbor was the only successful attack on US soil by a foreign power, until 9/11 happened. In the timeline we are in now, 9/11 would be the 3rd attack on our soil, rather than the 2nd. Also, my grandfather grew up in NY and would have been alive for the Black Tom explosion, but he never mentioned it once in his life

This clinches it for me. My family lived within 10 miles of there and never had heard of it. As a child, I scored genius + on SB IV, and pulled off numerous fests of memory, some having made the paper and others not. Went to law school, nearly perfect LSAT, passed 2 Bar Exams simply by studying myself etc. I'm also a chess master and was told I had an eidetic memory as a child. Not sure if the latter is true but I saw all the James Bond movies as a kid. Jaws met a girl with braces. The 3 other people I watched it with remembered the same, and I asked the question in a non leading way. CERN and various first world governments have technology far beyond what is known.

My grandfather went to NY back in the 50's and visited the statue of Liberty. He was able to go up to the torch and dropped a coin bag. He was born in 1928. And on the subject of NY, my great granduncle was among the workers who built the Empire State building.

I was born in June 1981, I remember Mandela dying in prison, I remember feeling sad, though I did not know him. I was a kid, my dad told me who he was. Nothing more really but I lived in Charleston SC, and remember this, on the Charleston Air Force base.

I loved learning about the world wars in school and retain much of the notable events to this day. The Black Tom explosion was never covered in any History book, lecture or in any popular media I ran across in the 20th century. And, Jaws' girlfriend had braces Damn it.

Well I myself went to the Statue of Liberty in the early 90s about 1992 but we could not visit the torch at that time but this was due to the fact that it was just finishing Construction to strengthen the torch as it was becoming compromised. Another huge fact to take into consideration is the fact that I visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island not liberty Island which I did not even know existed until a few years ago

The book "The story of Ellis Island" by Willard A. Heaps is proof that the statue of Liberty was (in a parallel universe) on Ellis Island. The cover of the book shows the statue of liberty in front of the Ellis Island Building and also describes it being there! I am from the timeline where the Statue of Liberty was on Ellis Island. People think I am crazy (I am a very rational person btw.) until I show them said book that somehow still exists in it's old form.

The Black Tom Island explosion never happened. Our papers and news articles after 9-11 didn't mention the Black Tom explosion until it suddenly became history around 2014. Also my wife and I visited The Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island in the early 2000's, not a separate island.

Its funny, I never remembered the Black Tom explosion. I went to school in the 80's and 90's and am a big history buff. I was taught that the sinking of the Lusitania caused America to enter WW1. I then asked my dad about Black Tom explosion. My dad went to school in the 50's and 60's and he told me that he was taught that a big ammunition explosion by German saboteurs caused America's entry into WW1. He thought it was strange that I did not know about Black Tom. So either my education was not as good as my fathers or maybe WW1 was a more distant memory. IDK.

I hiked all million of those stairs in 4th grade on a class trip...we went to the torch and it took just forever. False memory, my ass.

In germany they show alot of documentary of both world wars. I saw so many of them (my brother was obsessed with them) they never once told this story. My brother doesn't remember either. We didn't learned this in school. And if you look it up, you can find articles about it, but only a handful and they been published in 2016,2017 and 2018. can't find information about it befor 2016....

You forgot one of the most important facts. The Statue of Liberty was on Ellis Island, where I visited it in 1994.

The largest man made, non nuclear blast happened in Halifax Nova Scotia when a munitions ship exploded ... or at least in my dimension.

I went to the statue of liberty around 1994 and I swear we went up the torch. You had to go up a very tight spiral staircase. I was only 9 and it was scary bc my mom was getting vertigo and had a panic attack.

I was born and grew up in New York and lived there till 1985. Now - if this happened IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG THING and talked about for generations. My grandfather, parents, teachers would have mention this - and no mention of this existed till recently. Also, history books would have mentioned this - no mention. I would have thought this would be a subject in New York schools - it wasn't.

I did a report on the Statue Of Liberty back in middle school. I never found any information about why the torch was replaced or why people stopped allowing tours up into the torch. Hell, I went to New York to years after 9/11 and they weren't even doing tours into the base, which I might add, is where the original torch is situated. Note that our teacher didn't believe in the internet, so this was all info I got from old library books

First! The torch was open until the statue was refurbed for the bicentennial in 1976. There were "I Love New York" commercials that had helicopter shots of people waving from outside in the torch. It was big news when the torch was closed in the 70's.

I was wondering how people remember getting to the crown and, if they did, getting to the torch? I hear it's over 27 stories of stairs to the crown and many more to the torch. I was there in the winter and didn't get to take the tour of the crown and such.

School exchange in 1990. I remember Ellis Island and there had been some discussion about it being illogical that liberty island was separate, there was some reason for it but not sure what now, i just know we discussed it. I tend to remember things that are pointed out as anomalies/fun facts. I think either on the way there or the way back the ferry driver was talking about Reikers island. I went up the torch, and you had to pay extra for that. I remember that there was like a kind of old station type house where you would queue for your ticket. Our teacher purchased ours as groups. I remember being annoyed with my friend because I was so excited and she was having a mood and didn’t want to go in the torch. We had to take a boat to get to that island because it was on a separate island (my own memory and timeline). My mom only climbed up to the base of the statue of liberty (on Elise Island) but clearly recalls being able to go up to either the crown or the torch. The reason why most of you never heard of this is because (a)Quantum Ripple effect(s) took place around the year 2012......2 or more parallel timelines (or 2 or more of our paralleling timeline memories)... ....merged within this current timeline. My Uncle was a News reporter for New York City (I forgot what stations, he switched stations in the early 90’s). He’s so incredibly smart it amazes me how much he knows. Anyway, he remembers doing a story on the Black Tom explosion in the late 1980’s because that’s when they finished the new restoration on the statue. So many people questioned him because they didn’t know about it. He also was disappointed because he thought the torch would now be open, only to find out you could only go as high as the crown. Also, for the love of God, idk how people get confused between Liberty island and Ellis island. Ellis island was the island for immigration, especially during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. That’s just people being confused. The Statue of Liberty has always been on Liberty island.

I am 45 years old. My 5th and 6th grade teacher went to visit his daughter in New York City the summer between my 5th and 6th grade years in elementary school, I had him for 2 years in a row, for some reason the school had him teach both grades those years. Anyway, while he was visiting his daughter, he brought pictures of the Statue back with him, as he went up in it. He vividly described going up in the torch, the ladder, how he was a "big guy" and how the "ladder was a squeeze" for him and he took pictures while he was in the torch. The Torch was open to the outside and he said there wasnt anything really up there to hold you back other than a very short hand rail. I never heard of the black tom explosion until 2018. I was the first one to post about it over on 4chan saying it was a mandella effect because the sinking of the Lucentania was always the main reason why the US joined WW1. We never heard anything about this explosion, which was odd so many people never heard of it, if it was as big as it is reported to have been. This is absolutely a strange thing. But I also came from the universe where we couldn't TUNE PYRAMIDS and manipulate them with sound, and back 2000 years ago the people only knew of 2 planets in our solar system (Antithykra mechanism found 100 years ago, from a shipwreck from 2000 years ago). Yet now I am in this universe, where the pyramids in South America were tuned by the ancients to manipulate clapping noises to change from the sound of an echo of your hands clapping to that of their sacred bird, and the pyramid beside it, changes the clapping echo to that of a rattle, like a rattle snake or a (maraca). As a kid it felt like she was covered in scaffolding forever! I was so excited to visit in '92. I chose the stairs because the elevator line was so long. Ran the whole way up with my HS friends. I read the damn Wikipedia entry for largest non-nuclear explosions no more than 3 years ago and there was nothing about Black Tom Island.
