Was privileged to see them perform Valentine's Day, 2020 in Wilmington, Delaware at the Grand Opera House. They are as vocally polished and proficient as they were nearly 50 years ago. In fact, they may be even better. Not a lot of vocalists can say that after so many years. And they still perform and record new material. This was NOT an oldies performance, although they did plenty of their classics. Best 90 minutes I've had in a concert hall in a long time.
I don’t do live concerts, generally, but I made an exception to that rule when they came to town on tour when “Swing” was out. It was one of the highlights of my life and definitely the best live show I’ve ever seen!

Fueron expertos cantantes de DOO WOP, claro si de esa región de Estados Unidos tomaron su nombre: THE MANHATTAN TRANSFER... New York, New Jersey fueron epicentros del canto Doo Wop, con jóvenes que a la tarde después de tomar café, salían a la acera frente a su casa o por ahí cerca, se reunían en la mera esquina, y a capela empezaban a cantar, alumbrados por un poste de luz esquinero, que les dejaba como a contraluz... Hasta los cantantes que no llegaron a ser profesionales, sino como una etapa de la vida joven, hasta ellos tienen unas nociones enormes sobre cómo armonizan las voces. Conocimiento empírico pero probado en el terreno. Ahí sin instrumentos, se notaba si las voces estaban bien combinadas... Supongo que a un músico tan enamorado del Doo Wop como Frank Zappa, le habrá encantado esta faceta de Manhattan Transfer

As a professional entertainer and singer, I WOULD SO LOVE TO STEP INTO THE SHOES OF OUR WONDERFUL FRIEND WHO PASSED OVER.....SO SAD! I can sing ALL of the vocals for MANTRAN. I will be 68 on Valentines Day, I KNOW ALL OF THE MUSIC.
This is where---------IMO--------TMT Rules ! No one can do Pop-------Soul------Doo Wop, & Big Band , like these 4 incredibly talented people could do. They manages to put egos aside, & give us 50 years of great singing , the likes of which we'll not see or hear, ever again. -------------MJL, 76 y/o
