I hope you know your complete hair type Heres mine: Curl pattern - I, S, O, L Texture - TIGHT Density - DENSE Thickness THICK Sebum - MEDIUM-HIGH Porosity - BALANCED to LOW Due to my density its impossible to wash out the paste version of these powders from my hair. Shikakai worked well in cleaning my hair but, it dried it out so I had to follow it up with a deep conditioning.
@naturallylisag

GreenBeauty I need to figure this out. I'm think my hair is low porosity but that is based on the first few times I did the float test almost two years ago. I tried it again recently and it sunk to the bottom.

GreenBeauty. I’m still trying to fully get this more detailed typing system but I think I’m: Curl pattern - S, O Texture - half way between loose and tight Density - lowish medium Thickness - fine Sebum - low to non-existent? Porosity - high

I've been following your advice. I had my hair in twists for 6 months ( washed, detangled, touched up of course ) and I got 4 inches length retention!!! I've been natural my whole life but my hair has never been this long and healthy. I only trust your channel because it's backed up by science. Thank you.

This series is giving me more and more hair!!! Thanks. I've noticed regrowth since I've been using rhassoul clay in my now 70%-80% auyerveda hair care regime. If i stop using gel, I won't feel the need to wash my hair with shampoo. I'm making my own auyerveda oil. I make my aloe Vera leave in conditioner. I'm trying to avoid most commercial products when it's possible. Because I'm a recovering product junkie 😁😁

Allison the more the merrier. I enjoy making great products for my own hair. What is more my hair is loving it and it tells me so every day by being long, strong and soft to the touch. I consider it part of me time. My version of treating myself. Next on the agenda the ultimate day skin cream for the body with a strong base and a face cream.

I have used amla, shakakia and henna in a paste but stopped because it was so hard to rinse out. But I loved the results, my hair was fully, stronger and shedding was cut tremendously. Once I stopped I have seen my hair and scalp problems come back. Glad to know the tea works just as well. I will be using it.

@awakenedbeauti4977
@awakenedbeauti4977 6 лет назад
Donna Dampier Sorry for the late response but yes I add the powders to my shampoo. I add about 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon depending on which powders I'm using for that particular batch. For example, if I add 1/2 tsp. of Shikaikai, I'll add 1/4 tsp. of aritha powder. I do the same with my amla and brahmi for my conditioner mix. However, if I add MSM powder to any of my mixtures, I make sure to use a little bit more of the amla powder because the high concentration of vitamin c in the amla will allow for your hair to more readily take up the benefits of the MSM. I hope this makes sense. If you have any other questions feel free to ask 😌
@donnadampier261
@donnadampier261 6 лет назад
Thank you for answering so quickly. Your measurements make perfect sense. So you only use the MSN when you add the amla and brahmi in your conditioner how much of the MSN should I use? Sorry for all the questions. Hope to hear from you soon have a blessed day.

After all of the benefits of Shikakai I decided to add the tea version to the Clay Recipe that you gave us and to my African Black Soap D. I.Y Shampoo and see which I like better. I already add Amal to my D.I.Y deep conditioner so I didn’t want to use too many Ayurvedic herbs, but I cannot resist this video. My hair is 4b in the back/regular porosity-4c on the sides regular to low porosity-small bits of-3c at the crown-low porosity, and the center back/lower porosity. I love shikaki...my hair loves it and leaves it soft, and brings out the texture. I can see where I will use this more often as my hair gets longer, as it lends to me doing next to nothing for styling after getting out of the shower. I also like soapnuts and bhringaj. I mix them together with shikakai and make a tea. I will sometimes add or follow up with a tea of marshmallow, slippery elm, nettle, and or horsetail. And my standby after wash and rinse is castor oil or some kind of castor oil mix.

I use shikakai as part of a multi-herb leave in spritz on moisturize day. I use a tbs of henna and a tsp of amla, shikakai, bhrami and aloe powders. Basically, the Curly Proverbz tea spritz mix. I found shikakai a bit drying when I tried it alone but that was the full paste. I’ll try it as a straight rinse and see how my hair responds. I HOPE you continue with this Ayurvedic series, beyond your original list of herbs. I’m hoping you will consider doing a video on Ziziphus Spina Christi. Thanks!!

I switch it up not all at once all the time. My hair is smooth after I rinse it out. Never had a drying out effect but I do deep condition most of the time. Good morning (wel it's morning where I live ) I read your regimen I was wondering I know I use acv to close my cuticles because I have high porosity hair. My daugter is low low low porosity and I can't use acv because then the oils and extracts can't penetrate her hair shaft. I use it in my conditioner or deep conditioner or rinse after to close all the moister and goodness in. I was wondering why you use acv on low porosity hair. ? What does it do for you? And do the herbs and oils still penetrate your shafts ? Sorry for the long reply I'm trying to find the perfect hair regime for me and my daugter. Kind regards rose

You can make aloe Vera powder too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tzOXiWyLFTg.html If you want to use the gel you can. You can just save the green part of the leaf when you cut out the gel whenever you use it and dry it out naturally.

Love your channel😍 I have a question....went to a salon and got my hair dyed, deep conditioned, trimmed and blow dryed/flat iron. Which I haven't straighten like that in over a year. The stylist said my hair over all was healthy yet inside of my hair it was breaking. Not sure why. Maybe too much protein. I use rice water and ACV regularly. Maybe it's that?:/ I pray my curls come come poppin. I'm scared she heat damaged my hair. Even though she says she didn't:/ What is your opinion??? Thx And....Merry BLESSED CHRISTmas!🎄🎉🎊🎄

I’m so happy i found your channel. I am so sensitive to most products on the market. Learning from your channel and Curlyproverbz about how to use clay to clean my hair. I have one question. How can you preserve the clay mix?

Hello! I wanted to ask about and hope you have interest/ information about hot yoga on our natural hair. 105 degrees at 40% humidity, almost daily. It's difficult to keep up maintenance and I'm not sure how the salt from sweat would effect the strands and follicles, if it suits IB the hair without being washed for days. Any thoughts?

In India we use shikakai along with ritha nuts aka acacia concinna . It gives lather also. Cleansing oil from hair becomes a bit easier as we Indians love to apply oil to hair before wash

I use rye flour which also contains saponins. I heard Russian women used to use the crumbs from rye bread to wash their hair. Well I’ll tell you the rye flour is wonderful as a shampoo so if you can’t find this herb this is much easier to find

I have type 3/4 hair. My hair is tightly coiled. I use a Shikakai and rhassoul clay mix to clay wash my hair. I sometimes mix rhassoul clay and hibiscus powder together. My hair loves all of it. My hair is squeaky clean and bouncy. I almost get that white girl hair flip.

I have tried herbal washes (aritha, shikakai), clay washes (rhassoul, bentonite), sulfate-mild, sulfate-free, CO-washing. Tried it all. In all cases, my scalp reacted badly. I have SD, seborrheic dermatitis. I have found out after years of struggling, that I simply need the harshest cleansers on the market (Pantene, Herbal Essences) to get the gunk off. This keeps me from having to use my medicated shampoo (Nizoral 2%) too often. It is what it is. I'm 45, and I have given up experimenting. After all a clean scalp is a happy scalp, and I would give *anything* to have the flakes an itchiness and redness gone. Sulfates work for me. YMMV. It is different for everyone. And yes I have tried ACV. You name it, I've tried it. :) I love your informational videos! :)

Marleen G. Most of the issues we experience on our scalp and skin, in general, are signs of what’s going on inside. From what you say, it sounds like the sulfate shampoo are only pacifying the real issue. Rather than looking for external solutions, look within. Get some blood work done to check you’re vitamin levels and hormones. Also, try experimenting with different healthy diet chooses. The benefits topical products and natural ingredients provide are limited by our internal health.

My bloodwork is fine, I have it done yearly. My diet is fine too; no fast food and home cooked meals with plenty of vegetables. And for the record, I have nothing against sulfates, or silicones. So actually I don't mind having to use them. It helps me deal with the issue quite well, keeps the oil at bay and the flakes and itch away. If that is *all* I have to do to use my medicated shampoo less (like once in ever so many years), then I'll take it. YMMV, of course. But that's just my take on it. Thanks for responding! Oh, and I weekly wash, so every wash, weekly, for me is a clarifying wash. I "combat" the dryness by double conditioning. Should someone else be in my shoes, it might help you out. I use the LOC/LCO method for styling afterwards, and it locks in the moisture quite well.

What about shampoo bars? I use the Cocoveda one from Henna Sooq and no more gunk and flakes.
@amixeblu
@amixeblu 6 лет назад
GMOgottago, I have tried Chagrin Valley soap bars - didn't work. Even with a vinegar rinse after. I just got an itchy scalp, and later flakes. I am sticking to my sulfates, but thanks for helping. Like I mentioned, I tried it all. I'm 45, you would think that I'd have had the time, right? I have had this since I was a baby (cradle cap). Back then my mom used sweet almond oil & water to gently remove the flakes. That no longer works (oils feed the fungal overgrowth that is typical on SD).
