Impossible! That much talent packed in one relatively small man. Small in statue, but a giant in talent, charisma and charm. One of a kind, I doubt we'll ever see another like him.
Is there anything that Sammy cannot do? Good lord he is INCREDIBLE. Oh lordy I've loved him all my life. He's just Wonderful. No one on earth comes close.😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man, as much as I love Michael Jackson and despite what an enormous talent he was. I simply can't deny that Sammy was the Number 1 entertainer in history
Its one thing to 'do it all' well enough to be cast, or well enough not to embarrass yourself when its called for. Its another to do it all WELL. He did it all WELL. As a singer or a dancer, he was exceptional. This is not just talent. Can you imagine the hours of practice and time it takes to keep your voice sharp, learn new songs, keep your steps agile and learn the routines, your comic timing down learn your lines, and your impressions fresh? Each discipline requires hours upon hours of constant work to stay at the top of your game. Now we have musical instruments too. There are only 24 hours in a day.
I made a comment on part one of this, I think I will HAVE to amend it. He acts, dances, impersonates and plays drums while singing. What else doesn't he do? I ask again.
The bit with Jack Benny is very similar to one he did with Dennis Day when Dennis complained he hadn't been a guest all season on his show and then admitted he hadn't watched any of the shows that year. But Jack says he still considers Dennis a rising talent while his own star is diminishing.
He is NOT singing ,he is doing pantomime, as he mentions at the start of the act. Sammy was one of the best, and he wanted to show off his ability to do pantomime, which is the art of mimicking. I would not be surprised if Sammy could actually do Robert Preston, but he is showing respect to the man by using the original soundtrack.
@coporal4 Description says he's lip syncing. I do know that Sammy was an awesome impressionist and wouldn't doubt for a second that he is doing the voice but gattino12 says it's miming and I'm just going by what he says as it's his video :)
Really? Listen closely, now. I don't know if he's singing live--although the changes in the voice's volume and range when he dances are noticeable--but he's definitely not singing "to" Preston's Music Man track. This is either Sammy singing live or singing (or panthomiming, if you will) to his own pre-recorded track).
He sounds like him because he;'s miming to his voice! The talent he was showing was mime/lip synching, not impersonations. For his impressions see the other video.
Sammy Davis Jr. (1925-1990) A chain smoker, Davis died from throat cancer at the age of 64. When he died, he was in debt. To pay for Davis' funeral, most of his memorabilia was sold off.
