I don’t think chris failed, it’s more like his friends sacrificing themselves to keep him alive. As people have mentioned, chris is a hero and if it werent for him the world would have been a worse place with the infection whereas he was able to destroy most of the terrorists. With saving the world, comes sacrifices of your team. Cheesy i know, but there’s always loss when it comes to victory

The deaths that hit me hard were Piers and Ethan. Piers just wanted to impress his captain, but yet had to sacrifice in the end to ensure his captains survival. And for Ethan, a simple man who had reunited with his wife and had a child recently, sacrificed himself knowing that he would not make it in the end since he was just a mold all this time. Typically I don’t say this type of stuff, but I just had to let it out. It got me in tears 😭😭😭

Jill, Pierce and Ethan are like the ones that probably make him drink and have PTSD nightmares... But the Boulder... He never forgets that Boulder he had to punch into lava to kill Wesker. The Boulder is what pushes him forward, his Folgers in his cup, his Sun rise. He fights on to never have to punch another helpless Boulder, to never see another melting rock, to never have to go to explain to a pebble why it's father is never coming home. The Boulder reminds him of the sacrifice that comes with the job, because the memory of that Boulder... That's his rock to lean on.

What I really liked about RE6 and especially with Chris' story is how they showcased the emotional trauma of someone dealing with everything like Chris has. All of them have trauma, but it isn't always highlighted like this was. Say what you want, but RE6 is probably my favorite game from the storyline perspective. I really enjoyed all of them.

Piers and Ethan's sacrifices stick out for me. Chris didn't fail to save them, he failed to realize it was too late for them. Piers knew he was going to fall to the infection, that there was no cure for him. Ethan knew he was already dying, that his body was falling apart.

He's the best RE protagonist and one of the two who started the series, Chris would have rather been killed or sacrifice himself instead of Jill. Chris is selfless, if he could have put himself in any of the others places he would have. Also of course he's not going to be the one who dies, he's meant to be a tragic character like Batman, but he's not a vigilante. He's a soldier who is selfless, tries his best to bring his soldier/partners home, and would die for any of them. Any time anyone died that he couldn't save he blamed himself. The worst protagonist is Sheva because of how stupid her and her ai were in 5. To sit there and say the might aswell be poster boy is the worst shows that you apparently don't know his character, or even understand the character. You can also see how deeply he want to keep everyone alive and well, especially Jill. Those two care for each other in more than a friendly way shown multiple times in different games. You can see how he tries to save everyone in every game he's in. That is the definition of selfless.

Its kinda unfair like why Every death in Resident Evil series where Chris is main or even minor character is his fault? Like in Re6 it was War soldiers dies every second. Piers was already dead because they were fighting monster that could destroy world, Piers got mortaly wounden and got infected there was no way for Chris to save him. Chris and Jill vs Albert Wesker, this dude is demigod invincible to bullets, any kind of phisical damage and he could stand in volcano. Jill simply made a decision to take Wesker with her and Chris had nothing to do, yes he punched shit out of a boulder but he is still human and Wesker is Wesker. Case with Ethan was not that simple. Miranda took Mia place and she could infect Ethan, Chris had to make it in time so yes he brutally took Ethan and Rose but for their sake, like they had powerful BIO weapon in their house, later when Ethan and Chris could talk this fish dude attacked them and at Heisenberg factory they finally trusted each other. Unlucky Miranda murdered Ethan and after he was already dead corpse that was moved only by will of Ethan who wanted to protect his family. Its like blaming Leon for president death because he was around when he transformed. Boulder-puncher isnt perfect but at least judge him fairly.

And even though Chris did not knew this fact, he should've just told Ethan his plan (Did Chris really expected him to just sit idly by and wait for BSAA to play solder boys all over again?) Eddit: My key problem is why Chris couldn't inform him *AFTER* storming the house and shooting Miranda at any damn point after.

Leon is depressed because he couldn't save his team and had to re kill them all as zombies, leon saying to chis "when does it end, are our live's to be like this forever", and in RE8 chris says when "does it end", looking at Ethan's corpse.

Maybe his daughter could bring him back to life. We know she is powerful, frustrated and full of some bitterness. Since Miranda had nearly summoned her daughter, who had died a hundred years earlier, why Rose couldn't. Especially since Ethan himself has just died several times and he came back XD. Perhaps he would come back as "not him." That would be interesting.

I believe it is a thing I like to call the resident evil protagonist curse. If you notice, each of the protagonists tend to save someone sometimes even a group of people in the games. However, said people usually end up dying horribly. Hell even Ethan tended to lose people whom he encountered or saved.

Sometimes just switching up to tell a story about certain character and what they always doing is ok. Like Chris, aside from zombies he also deal with what we called a bio-terrorist as we play as him or Piers. Leon always focus on the traditional zombie story. It also show how Ada work in the shadows. And finally show what Sherry doing after racoon city incident.

I thought Piers and Ethan's deaths were out of his control since they chose to die. Ethan was also screwed no matter what since Miranda tore out his heart and the Mold wasn't able to heal an injury that severe. Chris probably would've just distracted Miranda for a few seconds had he been with Ethan and maybe even killed himself.
