Holy hell what did Ijust witness. I'll never be the same after watching/listening to this. Best shit I think I've ever heard in my entire life. Swear to God. State Law!
Very young talented musician with spectacular sounds of good Southern rock and fusion. love the Bluesy R&B styles..guitar is off the hook and Marcus King's lighting fingers shred chords as the feelings come pouring outta him and his band compliments him.. very tight ..with all that Sax.horns guitars you gotta luv it.
just saw this great band live for the 1st time and it certainly won't be the last. Good Lord!! These guys are amazing! Thx for the great vid of this NC show...Lovin' it :-)
Incredible talent. One day Marcus will be Compared with, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen as one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived
I came because the RU-vid thumbnail looked like Janet Jackson (cut me some slack, it was a teeny weeny thumbnail!) but I stayed for the amazing music. Nice work as always.
Marcus King Band! Holy crap! Allmann Brothers, Grateful Dead, Return to Forever, Joe Bonamassa, Phish, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tedeschi Trucks Band all rolled into one. He is only 21yrs old and the drummer plays like Buddy Rich. AWESOME. ECHO 11 SESSION another concert they did just for you tube.
2:01:00 to 2:11:00 is a medley: Sin's a Good Man's Brother (Grand Funk Railroad) Moby Dick (Led Zeppelin) War Pigs (Black Sabbath) Bloodsucker (Deep Purple) That's my own personal pantheon of rock right there. Amazing that 20 year old covers those songs...especially Bloodsucker.
Marcus needs to release a LIVE album. His live performances capture the true essence of his talents. He needs to follow what the Allman Brothers did . The bands first 2 albums weren’t that successful. Then they released Live at Fillmore East and the rest is history!! Although I like his studio stuff it’s nothing compared to his live performances. !!!!
+deepsnowgoodtimes Set the amp volume around 8-10 and turn the drive on the Tubescreamer all the way up (or adjust drive to taste). Then, set the level of the Tubescreamer around 9 o'clock so that the Tubescreamer is acting as almost a master volume. The tone on the TS can probably stay down all the way. Experiment with it. Hope that makes sense and I wish you the best of luck ;).
Wow these guys are so friggen AWESOME!!!!!!! You guys are at the top of my list for why haven't I heard of you before now??? Josh Smith said you don't disappoint And he's right. Thanks Josh. Amazing.
I just discovered Marcus King with this video. His voice is reminiscent of Robin Trower - his playing too. I heard a couple of Duane's licks as well. Great fun.
This is amazing....I have been looking for a multi-cam, SBD capture of one of their "long" shows. This is perfect. Thank you for your time and effort! It is much appreciated.
Thanks for the video, @Barry2theB...just got turned on to Marcus King's band for the first time, just this morning...It's right in my wheelhouse. Will be paying attention to when he makes it to Central PA/Northern MD. Live and love live music!!! Cheers from Lancaster PA, and...Stay Amused!
Filling in a few blanks - great, great video. I really enjoyed it - thank you so much 0:31:42 - Opie 0:37:32 - Dear Prudence (Beatles cover) 1:23:12 - Don’t Answer the door (BB King cover) 2:04:13 - War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover)
Some other missing songs: 1:31:19 = "Can't Take It" 2:11:34 = "Virginia" 2:17:25 = "Your Last Song" 2:00:57 = "Sin's a Good Man's Brother" - Grand Funk Railroad cover 2:02:00 = "Moby Dick" - Led Zeppelin cover 2:07:07 - "Bloodsucker" - Deep Purple cover
I happened across this guy just a couple weeks ago, and the more I listen (and watch but primarily listen), the better it gets. Take that, millenials-are-no-good crowd!! I'm a '59 model, incidentally.
Brother, same here. Stumbled upon the Marcus King Band two or three weeks ago, and watching/listening/watching it just keeps getting better and better. They are on tour and I'm going. Come hell or high water I will be at that show. We are witnessing rock history unfolding. #marcuskingband
Interesting, I feel like I hear a lot of Derek Trucks in his bluesier playing. Not saying that at all as a bad thing, these guys are all amazing in their own right and he's doing very very many things differently and in his own way... but still, that sound is definitely there. What do you guys think? Anyone else hear it?
For me it's more kind of Warren style - some people call him "Young Warren" (and it's not only because of his hair style and figure). Btw: Warren is his mentor (and producer and guest artist of Marcus records), Warren's playing an ES 335, Warren's hometown is Asheville (where this concert took place)...And I'm sure in the rougher parts you can hear Jimi, too ...
bobbynoe1 Interesting, now that you mention he does sound a bit like Warren. In any case I didn't know they were so closely connected, thanks for sharing!
Just started listening (I'm about 40 minutes into the set as I type this...) I'm a HUGE Zappa fan and anyone who tackles his material has my respect. Haven't heard the "Eat That Question" quote yet...but right now they're doing "Driven to Tears." I'm chuffed about that too...Can't wait till they come close enough to Central PA for me to hear and see live! Connected on social media as of 20 minutes ago!
I love Warren's stuff, but this kid has something different. He plays like a shredder for metal, but he keeps it bluesy and jazzy. His riffs are so damn funky and original too. I'm amazed every time I hear his stuff.
