This was by far the greatest episode of this show. Dick Van Dyke is the meaning of what a legend is. At 97, he is still a superstar. He will always be remembered centuries from now.
HE ALSO, coined the term, "The Scene" as it's used in both Urban dictionary as well as common place dialogue. He used the term before anyone else in his song, "Toot Sweet" from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang !!
Hell,Yeah.....He`s a Living Legend.....I`m Surprised Nicole was calling him Handsome and Gorgeous...But He IS a well-loved and well known actor....Hey, He HAS MY PROPS.... So,to me...He`s EARNED MY respect.... Props To Dick....STILL knows how to go!
love the scene in Saving Ms. Banks where Ms. Travers scoffs at the idea of Dick Van Dyke as "one of the greats." Poor guy was just a TV actor at the time, something popular, but with little prestige. Little did she know but his career would eventually land him comfortably with Olivier, Burton and Guinness
I think Graham Norton once asked Julie Andrews something like "Mary Poppins is currently on the West End. You are in the front row and the lead actress suddenly can't perform. Could you immediately take her place" and she just went "Of course I could"
It amazes me every time how Dick Van Dyke at 97 still carries the same great energy to perform and dance like he's still in his 20s. 😳 Not even in my 20s I'd be brave enough to be inside a huge costume like that! Bravo sir! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The way Nicole said, "Dick Van Dyke" with such softness and reverence as she was visibly emotional. Very touching to those of us who grew up with him! What an inspiration! Loved it!
I love love love how every time Dick Van Dyke has made a surprise appearance, everyone in the room goes absolutely WILD and turn into children. 😂❤ His legacy is THAT powerful.
They turn into children because we were children when we first heard him sing and saw him act. That feeling never goes away, and true legends stand behind him.
If I googled it and googled is correct he is almost 98 years old on December 13 of this year. He definitely is legendary and an icon. I still love the movies Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
She's not wrong, Dick Van Dyke looks real good for his age. Grew up watching Mary Poppins and the Dick Van Dyke show, it's cool to see him still around!
I was shocked to see that THE legend himself Dick Van Dyke was on the masked singer I literally just watched Mary Poppins just two weeks ago. What an honor to have a guy like him at the age of 97 still know how to put on a show for us to see, thank sir I salute you. 🫡
If you didn't grow up watching the Dick Van Dyke show, you may not know the insanely talented comedic talent of that show. DVD was the best of them all. They still had good TV in the 60s.
WOW he can still soft shoe at 97 and I am 61 and I can't dance at all, he is amazing and just as funny as he always was, we need more people like him. . . . . . .
Lin Manuel Miranda said that during the filming of Mary Poppins Returns, he just hopped up on the desk and did the whole dance sequence. The rest of the cast and crew were astounded by how spry he was!
I also started bawling at the reveal… I couldn’t believe he was actually on the show… Had no idea, and totally blown away! He is a national treasure! He is still with it, and has still got it at 97 years old! What an amazing talent!❤
Dick van dyke holds such a dear place in my heart. Mary Poppins was one of my favorite movies as a child. Not only was he the chimney sweep Burt but also the old man from the bank. and now he actually kind of looks like the old man he played. He’s so handsome for such an age. he’ll be the best lookin guy at the pearly gates and I hope he goes laughing and singing ❤
I've never watched this show but Nichole having tears shows how important this man is to even the younger generation. This man plays such a huge part of our lives in Mary Poppins. He's a legend and that word is the right way to describe this man.
I would give almost anything to meet Dick Van Dyke. As a child watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins, to the Dick Van Dyke Show as a teen, and so many others through my life. I'm only 26 years old, and this juggernaut of entertainment has been a part of 3 generations in my family, soon to be 4. There's no words for what this man means to the world. He has achieved true immortality.
Dick Van Dyke is a National Treasure! What a Legend! Singing, Dancing, Acting, Comedian!! He can still do it all! Bravo, Sir!!! I'm almost 65 and he still makes me laugh, cry, and applaud him!! What memories he's given me! Thank you!
This made me teary eyed 😢. I remember watching Diagnosis Murder with my grandmother. My older sister likes classic movies and shows and she introduced me to Mary Poppins and the Dick Van Dyke show. Its such a blessing to be 97, stil performing, still looking good, still celebrated and loved. I dont even watch this show but it warmed my heart to see this clip 😊❤
Wow! What a fantastic reveal. A true movie legend. Someone I’ve grown up watching. We don’t get the US version in the UK anymore sadly. I picked it up through a forum. So many people over here would have loved to see this. Well done Dick. Waiting to get someone of his calibre on our version. We’ve had some big names but no one THAT big lol! We did have Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi on our series just finished.
Dick Van Dyke. An ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!!! He should've stayed, or be a wildcard! He's even 97 YEARS OLD!!! He even remember SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS from Mary Poppins, because he starred in it!!!!!
Dick Van Dyke is a living legend, it's ironic to think that today I was just thinking about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins because these are timeless plus it's coming up to Christmas 🎄 because usually they put one of these films on around Christmas but yes he is certainly a living legend God bless you Dick Van Dyke❤
This is what Hollywood needs to get back to the epitome of style, class, grace, and humbleness in one package is Mr. Dick Van Dyke. Hollywood has lost this and needs to get back to this. 97!! Man, he looks good. God bless you, good sir😊
If you ever have watched Marry Poppins and seen the old Banker who laughed to death you had a preview of what Dick van dyke would look like at the same age because it was Dick who was the old Banker
I just love the trend of iconic legacy faces singing a song they're accociated with, last season in was Ray Parker Jr doing the Ghost Busters theme and now Dick Van Dyke singing Supercalafragalisticexpialadocious
I grew up watching this man, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Dick Van Dyke Show.... we could go on and on, 97 years young and still going strong, legend doesn't even describe him, he's a part of our heritage and an American treasure. The world is going to be a much sadder and less fun place when he's gone. I am so blessed to have met him and been able to watch his genius through his films. we all love you Mr Van Dyke
I got it, lol. That was very good! He actually filmed two versions of that opening, one falling over it, and the other walking around it. You never knew which one was coming.
Glad he stopped driving after the last accident he was in. Love you sir. Like Mr Rodgers, Dick Van Dyke taught us so much. Thank you for alp the memories
I've never seen this show, but watched this clip and burst into tears seeing Dick Van Dyke!! There's no words to properly praise him. Bloody hell, doing a wee jig to Supercalafragilisticexpialadocious!! At 97!! I'm ashamed of myself sitting on my bony ass too much - I'm absolutely inspired by DVD!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dick Van Dyke is the most magical. Wonderful kind, exceptional, gifted fun star, human being in the entertainment industhat's great. I really love him as he has always been a really positive and wonderful force in my growing up. I am 57 years old now. And he is 97 years old. He looks sounds and moves way younger than I do.😂 God bless him. May he continue to do so? And when he skips off into heaven, may it be at his request. And dancing all the way that man is pure. Show business and music and how it should be done. He is one of the greats. Please, everybody never forget it.❤❤ Oh and I dictated this so if it comes out a bit weird I apologise😊
There are really only a small number of individuals who could really be said to have changed television and entertainment forever, and Dick Van Dyke is definitely one of those individuals. He is a living treasure.
Dick Van Dyke! WAHOO. My family flew with Disney back in the day. My grandfather Edward N. was the founder of an advertising agency on Sunset Blvd and a friend of Walt Disney. He used to visit my grandparents' house in Resida when I was a child. We kids got to react to a family of audio animatronic deer with Mr. D. He and my grandfather would race pigeons and did a little deer hunting, too. In those days, the area was natural and undomesticated. They would take walks and swim in my grandparents' pool. (Vbg), the female director of Star Wars, could play your brother Jerry's humanized mother in his popular TV show. 😅
I remember when I first saw this, I guessed Dick Van Dyke, my grandmother (who also watches this show) thought I was wrong (mainly because no one considered him) she was so flabbergasted when we found out it was right. I was jumping up and down screaming at the top if my lungs "I WAS RIGHT!!!"
Love Dick van dyke. Mary Poppins is one of my favourite. He looks so good and that twinkle in his eye never fades. True legend. I still watch him in diagnosis murder on tv where he plays a doctor and his son plays a detective. Donna from Australia
OMG!! Dick Van Dyke is LEGENDARY!!! He still has the voice and vitality of his younger days. Even though the beard does make him look his age, I ❤ DVD! When he passes, I will be very saddened by his death, more so than any other actor that has ever lived. For many of us, we too, can say that Dick Van Dyke was our childhood!😊
Dick Van Dyke is my most favorite and best actor in the TV show 'Diagnosis Murder', 'Mary Poppins', 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and a great actor as the judge in the television season 'Matlock'. 🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍💖💖💖💖
