Sociologically, there's a difference between biological sex (male/female) and gender (masculine/feminine). Trans people basically identify and want to be identified according to their gender; they're not claiming to be chromosomally a different sex than what they are. Identifying as Black is really about identifying oneself with respect to social realities and experiences of being Black; i.e. being born with a certain skin tone isn't what _really_ makes you Black, but rather everything you have to deal with because of that. So no, it doesn't make sense to simply identify as Black if that's neither how society sees you not does it accurately represent your experience of America. Something being a social construct doesn't mean that it's a totally arbitrary thing. The self-identifying Attack Helicopter people need to actually look up precisely what a social construct is.
