It was always like that in the trilogy, the difference is apparently the “energy” the humans generated increased significantly by keeping the people fearful and stressed. No more or less were rejecting this crappy matrix than before. It’s a shame the machines never discovered potatoes, at least they wouldn’t have made this film if they had.

The machines who cooperate with the humans in Io was a fascinating subject, elements of Matriculated. The concept of being attached and self absorbed by the very system that controls you is a concept explored since the very beginning of matrix. Morpheus explains this to Neo in the agent's program. They might have updated the concept now to be consistent with today's commentaries on society, but it's essentially the same. When you are dependent on a system, you will defend it even if it is the source of your misery. The Matrix has always been about waking up , realizing yourself and walk outside of your confort zone.

We will have a sequel for sure, I am amazed by the controversary this movie brings but it was obvious that it would have iHaters, since anyone has access to share his opinion nowadays, different to how it was in 99'. Related to the movie, I liked it and I would rate it 8/10. I see many people crying that Neo wasn't Jackie Chan in it or that the "new actors look terrible"; rather than focusing on the idea behind it and the purpose it serves (besides the usual one, money), it was enjoyable and as a long time fan, I am not hating, I enjoyed it, still have to rewatch it a couple of times since I might've missed some. The movie was bad. Felt nothing like the Matrix, the writing was awful, the plot barely existed, the dialogue was cringe, the throwbacks and Easter eggs were done with even more cringe, the cinematography was amateur level, the directing was amateur level, the FX were cheap, and after the first 30 mins everyrhing was completely predictable. Jessica Henwick is really the only redeeming thing about it, but thats not enough. It was very bad. Almost unwatchable. Definitely something that would be difficult to sit through twice.

Some points I thought were illuminating: The machines are a relatively new race of Sentients learning how to co-exist with humans. Io was a fantastic example of this. Like Zion before it, humans needed machines in order to survive. Neo and Trinity aren't naturally born humans nor are any living inside the matrix. I think ppl forget that they are in fact a hybrid human/machine race augmented as they are with technology allowing them to download new skills unlike natural humans who can not. Matrix 4 made excellent satire of the way sentient beings live inside their own beliefs regardless of what 'world' they exist in. True power is the ability to make changes in the world you believe to be real for better or worse. Humans do generally fear change and resist it hence why the Matrix fundamentally operates so effectively. Machines on the otherhand are constantly updating and continuously evolving. They are only held back by their older programming designs. However by studying humans they continuously are able to improve growing increasingly more adaptable. Morpheus was, for me, the most interesting character. Previously he was a Hybrid in the Matrix trilogy and now he's been recast as a sentient program. He knows his own fiction and what he's designed from just as Agent Smith does. Both learning to choose their own glorious purpose. I was surprised to see MERV still around after the Purge. Talk about a program refusing to die. If there are going to be sequels I doubt we've seen the last of him although it did seem odd to see such a once powerful program so diminished. What is the Matrix to you? This question was asked jokingly so many times it felt like it was done so purposely for the satire of it. Clearly pointing out that to many people it will just be another movie. Only to the rare few will it ever become a doorway and yet it is those rare few the future of all our lives depends on. Those who are able to see beyond the limits of what is Yet possible.

Some of you may hate this, but hear me out. This is my interpretation of the ending (spoilers): the reason that Trinity has Neo’s powers is simple- she had the anomaly’s code ever since Neo revived her at the end of Reloaded, but she was unable to activate it while the analyst had her and Neo separated, even though he rebuilt both of their brains. So once Neo and Trinity were freed again, not only have they reactivated their code, but the analyst lost most of his power over the Matrix because, unlike the Architect, he doesn’t have the power to change the Matrix code directly- only by manipulating people’s emotions. Therefore, Neo and Trinity are FINALLY in a position where they could actually bring an end to the Matrix once and for all, as many of us wanted to see after the first movie. That is, provided that the machines and humans of Io could fight in the real world and that Lana will direct another film, which I’m doubting at this point.

I was hoping the Matrix 4 is to fix that bug but it was not. I do not think other love relationships in the Matrix trilogy are any inferior to Neo and Trinity's and yet, none of those people became The One but they do just because of no reason. I hate the Matrix 4 so much to the point that I am guessing Lana has been so annoyed by WB's pressure to film another sequel and so she decided to destroy it herself.

@@liameneuk The granny was not just a granny making prophecies. She had altered the code of the anomaly in Neo through food on two occasions which could give him powers. And if Love is whats causing the anomaly in the first place, then she just strengthened the anomaly by convincing Trinity to fall in love with Neo through her prophecy. (Remember that the Architect was totally aware of the dangerous "game" she had played.) However you also forget that the same prophecy applied to Cypher too as he was also thought of as the ONE initially. But cypher always felt bad that Trinity never treated him the way she was treating Neo. So in all possibility Trinity fell in love with Neo because of other reasons, like she actually liked him since or even before they met in the matrix. They both were hackers and Neo already respected Trinity since she was famous for hacking an important database. Just because something can be explained or has justifiable implementation doesn’t mean there isn’t an agenda attached to it… I’ve watched many reviews of this film and took them with a grain of salt because I don’t believe much have the understanding of the Matrix lore like this channel does. Which is why I subscribed. Amongst the amazing ads lol. With that being said, I had major concerns regarding the direction of the series after watching the trailers and did not want to watch this movie. For I feel indeed an agenda was at play. I said to myself, “they better not do to Neo what they did to Luke Skywalker.” After watching your last two videos, I know now I will need to watch it myself to confirm what I feel. 1. Why is Neo the one with PTSD, anxiety, depression when BOTH he AND Trinity suffered similar levels of trauma? Why has his character been reduced from the strong male lead he evolved into from reloaded and revolutions into the broken version of himself? Why is he the broken of the two? 2. Why has Morpheus been reduced from the strong male lead and patriarchal figure in the original trilogy, to IN YOUR OWN WORDS, simply “comic relief” 3. Why has the Merovingian, a jerk and egomaniac but a prominent, strong male character nonetheless, been reduced to a seemingly destitute hobo? Why have seemingly all the strong MALE leads from the original trilogy been reduced to broken versions of themselves? While Trinity, retains her strength and disposition and “Buggs” is seemingly a stronger character than Morpheus!?!? Coincidence? Or agenda? YOU decide…

I like to try think of the deeper reasons behind happenings in life and this Hollywood agenda stumps me in regards to if you wanted to replace one genders’ domination of roles with the other and appear to be superior, then why would you need to replace them with versions of stronger (more manly) versions of the previous gender? It’s like saying Nazis are bad so we’ll replace them (and their roles) with Jewish death camp guards (at an extreme example). Surely, it would be more beneficial to replace the sometimes more negative aspects of males (like violence, historically) with females who pushed the more positive sides of females (like love and care) rather than make women great at fighting and strong. Trinity being saved could be part of the story, but denying the agenda in the movie is quite ridiculous. They even question Trinity for having a family, which is in line with biology and statistically the thing that bring more happiness in females lives, not a product of cultural pressure... It's literally the opposite, movie like Matrix question this natural fact to manipulate culture and people. The end of the movie is a joke, a nonsensical female power fantasy. I guess Trinity anger is producing a lot of power.

Unfortunately I felt like it went from interesting to boring about halfway through. It seemed to become a standard Hollywood blockbuster with an exposition dump and a list of tasks. Show don't tell, especially in the matrix with it's overarching theme of enlightenment, and if you want audience participation. The fight scenes for me weren't as fun to watch as the older films but it is hard to recapture that magic. I was so interested for roughly the first hour or a little more. I feel like it was too long and not strange enough if that makes sense. Just my initial thoughts.

@@OnTheEdge86 One of the things about Matrix-I was this same kind of confusion of what it was about and what was going on because so much was going on. Now this movie has a similar feel, but I get the feeling the way the story is told is jolting because it has references to our Reality and people don't like that so much. People want a movie to take them away to a fantasy, not slap them in the face with real-world stuff. But, isn't that part of the whole "wake up" idea? So, it's controversial or trash or whatever, but it does make its points. As to the Matrix story, I think the incongruities or questions or holes in the story are also jarring or confusing and hurt the story-telling. A Spielberg would/could never have made this movie. The overall aesthetic and style of communicating the message is what bothered me personally. Flashbacks from old movies felt forced, pacing seemed off, dialogues and exposition felt really weird at times. It seems that this story thoroughly explained sounds much better on paper, it would even work well as a book, but the whole implementation and execution on screen felt awkward. Sure there were many beautiful scenes, also enjoyed the new city IO (which was shown too little and not with living people), bots falling from windows was a nice touch, but writing in general just felt sloppy (at least how it was translated by the characters). I do appreciate the meta moments in the movie talking about that it's impossible to recreate the success of the old movies and that they need to do something different, but the way they did it just didn't connect with me. I also never watched Matrix trilogy for their fighting scenes so in this movie I didn't care for those much either, although didn't seem very great as well tbh. The ending dialogue and attitude with disgraced Analyst was just laughable.

I think that if you don't get the essence of the Matrix trilogy - or don't love the characters deeply -, and also as a meta approach to the conception of Ressurection and the evolution of the Wacho's cinema, you can't get how deep this movie is and you end up getting upset like most of the critics who were just looking for the same adrenaline shot as the first trilogy and waiting for the same reboot/remake phenomenon. If you haven't watched Sense8 for instance, or event Cloud Atlas, then it's difficult to understand that the Wacho's story is extremely close to their creative process and that the first trilogy was created that way because it belongs to a time in where transidentities and queer representations were near to zero in the pop culture - or worst. In this movie, Lana is closing on this transitional chapter of her life, I think. She doesn't need to hide behind obscure and complicated verbiage. Her cinema is so much more straightforward and it's great, because it reconnects us to the main topic of her creation: love. The Matrix Resurrection is beautiful in that sense. Also I see there the beginning of a new area, whether it's cross media or only movies, so as the first part of something new, there are lots of thing that have a great potential to be explored.

As the Anomalies, Trinity and Neo are basically equal to the Analyst. In their conversation, at the end, the Analyst says they can do whatever they want and change whatever they want. Rainbow skies. The Analyst throughout the whole movie is just trying to maintain his power and that relys on keeping Neo and Trinity imprisoned. They're imprisonment and his design of the matrix allows for maximum energy output for the machines that's why he was placed in power after the machine civil war. He's the one that purged the Matrix If Neo and Trinity are free, the Analyst can't run the Matrix like it has been for the last 60 years, because anything that actually tries to control the people inside, Neo and Trinity will just patch/change. While everyone in the Matrix was imprisoned by the machines once more, humans outside imprisoned themselves inside Zion and IO. They didn't do anything about the purge or question why people stopped leaving the Matrix. Morpheus and Zion were blinded and controled by the prophecy(hope), believing the peace would last no matter who won the machine civil war. IO was blinded and controled by their own fear, fear of restarting the war and losing the prosperity they gained. Hope and fear play a big part in this movie. Because Smith was having the anomaly code copied onto him through Neo in the first Matrix....he was always Neo's Opposite...as long as Neo exists, Smith will always be his shadow (The Unbalancing formula to the equation which the architect wanted to Balance) The Ying to to the Yang...he was not affected by the Analyst because in Revolutions Smith grew to immense power beyond anything except the Deus Ex Machina...so like when you wipe a stubborn virus from your computer, residues of that virus may still remain even though you may not realise it ( in this case why Smith had a new body , same as with the Oracle -now being in Sati, Architect being now in the Analyst, The Merovingian looking more scruffy like the Train Man) My kinda of look / opinion though.

I have a theory. 22 years ago, when the first film appeared, you needed to visually show the future as they did, as smth technical, distant, a lot of machines... But today, we perceive the matrix, the artificial world, as smth softer, more friendly & everyday like. The nuances are enough, but it makes that world more scarier. I want to say, it's not technical that much, the power of manipulation, strong characters, mind control - that's what makes that world future variant of our world. Haven't seen it yet, but already love it!

I think the movie is having some similar reactions as the original, 1999 I remember a lot of people watched it and they just didn't get it and understand the commentary and meaning... So it really wasn't as popular as people think it was... It only became more mainstream and popular as the academics and writers start to dissect and explain the commentary. I think Lana has a lot to say in this. The Bot attack at the end the claustrophobic feeling, the smother feeling is her commentary on cancel culture. When you just say one unpopular thing online it's like a switch goes off and everyone just jumps on you and come at you non stop when they themselves don't even know what they are attacking you about. Kudos to Lana I think she did an amazing job. This Matrix is every bit as deep and interesting as the first.
@ninaj6051
@ninaj6051 2 года назад
I wrote somewhere else about my explanation of the bots, but I think they are about everyone who is manipulated and subverts the essence of things of which they feel some kind of a threat, mainly new stuff, that prevents people from systemically fixing stuff. Even the Matrix franchise was subverted for it, e.g. "red-pilled", "black-pilled" etc, when someone finds a way to spoil each nice thing that happens in the world, by making it look even worse than how things are in that moment.

@@ninaj6051 yeah I really enjoyed the film and I think a lot of people do forget how strange and odd this movie was back in 1999, I remember I had some friends before Seeing it was determined to hate it... They said it looked so goofy and silly trench coats and dark glasses everywhere. But me being a huge computer nerd and just sat at home on my dial up internet every night was so ready for it. I'm getting the same vibes now because I see Lana is again making statements about being an outsiders and someone who isn't comfortable and doesn't feel cool in the world.

I saw the film today and I liked it. Most importantly I thought it was a perfect coda to the trilogy. Neo and Trinity dying in #3 I think was a good ending but it's not a happy ending. In this case, they had a better outcome. I also said before I liked #2 and #3 and the Animatrix more than the first one. I thought this was a lot of fan service and I do think they touched on some interesting ideas. I would argue that if you're not a Matrix fan and if you particularly didn't like the sequels as much, this will be harder for you. So I think it was clever, had its moments, and a few novel ideas including how programs can now exist in our world (why not just give them a machine body?). I do think it would've been better with Weaving and possibly Fishburne, with the same story (i.e., Morpheus would still be the program).

Despite it might not look like that at first glance, The Matrix Resurrections is actually a timely and poignant reiteration of the message of the original film. And what the Analyst says at the end is probably the most important part of it in the context of the present moment. Not a fan of Freud, but can it be the reason…hmm, subconsciously :)…for all those negative reactions?
@ninaj6051
@ninaj6051 2 года назад
Probably. I think it might be due to how the people subverted the message of the original Matrix over the years, and went to a complete opposite with it, especially for specific agendas. I mean, things like "red-pilled", "black pilled", etc. People also far and wide are disillusioned similarly but think it's due to totally illegitimate causes. People who play with them, and especially those who force upon a certain system, like the programs, are actively making sure it stays that way, and that their bots crush everyone else.
@bluenoirpics
@bluenoirpics 2 года назад
@@ninaj6051 I agree that the message of the original - which was pretty straightforward and perfectly correct - was subverted, ignored, or simply drowned in the endless discussions about the technicalities of the lore. With some very sad consequences as far as the “real” world goes. Hence - the farce aesthetics of the fourth movie, I guess. While those “seriously disappointed” are essentially just hating on the reflection ...

Can you do a video on the new Morpheus? This whole thing confused me. I realize that Neo's modal program programmed an agent to learn how to be Morpheus. The thing that confuses me though is in the scene where the agents refer to him as "Agent Smith". If he was the new Agent Smith of this version's Matrix then is the Agent Smith character that is Neo's boss at Deus Machina an old version of Agent Smith smuggled in by the Machiavellian since he was a smuggler of programs in and out of the Matrix? Shedding some light on this would be great. Thx for the videos
@jase276
@jase276 2 года назад
Neo's boss is the real, or iginal, Agent Smith. The new "Morpheus", or as I like to call him "Not Morpheus", was created by Neo in a test modal as a combination of Smith and Morpheus. Two important people responsible for shaping him. Guess you could look at them as his Birth and his Death. Basically the modal was a "what if" sim Neo was making to see if he could recreate a birth of "The One". "Not Morpheus" was essentially a key Neo put out there for someone to find him. He isn't really a "new Smith", just a replica. Like a gundam building kit, something made by someone who wasn't the actual creator.

So now the question is what were the original trilogy of films? A: A movie trilogy based on the events surrounding the Thomas Anderson/Neo integral anomaly? B: The cutscenes from The Matrix series of games created by Thomas Anderson inside The Matrix cut together into films like we see on RU-vid nowadays, or even like these recent indie films using a photorealistic game engine like Unreal Engine 5 to make a feature film trilogy? C: A movie trilogy based on a screenplay adaptation of the game Thomas Anderson designed in The Matrix which is also in The Matrix?
