ahaha, sometimes I'll watch them even when I know I won't watch the movie subject matter. e.g. Resurrections I've rewatched some Pitch Meetings more than some of the material covered.

Imagine if they just made a whole movie out of that machine civil war plotline, and we don't have Neo, Trinity, or Morpheus in that at all. And then we get this as a second movie after that one

Yes. Maybe a neo hint at the end. This movie has some really interesting elements. Somehow none of those seem to connect to the characters or story of this movie.

@@bryansmith1691 Maybe we would even see Neo here and there after they created the new matrix, but not as Keanu, and as the game developer guy. In the second movie, we would still see him as the game developer guy in those meta scenes, and we would see him as Neo in the therapy sessions. First we would think the developer guy was one of the "bad guy" programs, we would see him as one of the main villains, then we would learn that he was actually Neo. Could be a cool reveal. Just spitballing here as I go, these are def not great ideas but I'm saying these because they could expand so much on all the interesting things they introduced. Because it felt like they didn't do much with any of them other than the on-the-nose meta-commentary.

@@gokhan4461 there's an endless amount of ideas to make this movie better. Imo the blue haired girl and Morpheus have the same role in movie, cut one of them, cut all of the new Zion stuff, make the crew that rescues neo already a break off rebellion group from the computer/humans that allied. Still can do the rescue trinity mission as the only way to convince neo to join the new human rebellion and end the movie w a 3 way war. But none of that solves the biggest problem and that's the this movie feels like a Netflix movie or fan film, mainly the action, but the overall gravitas is missing.

This movie has zero rewatchability. The 1st part is kinda okay the 1st time through, but once you know where its going it is no longer tolerable. I would rather have another Animatrix movie, just let artist go nuts with their imaginations. Give it a decent budget and people would watch it. It's sad when the Unreal 5 demo that is 5 mins long has more action then a 2 1/2 hr movie.

8:00 I believe that is a misunderstanding, though it is still the movie's fault for not explaining it better. Unlike agents, swarm mode doesn't take over anyone, at least not anyone human. The new matrix has numerous "bots" posing as friends and family members to keep the humans docile, and swarm mode simply turns these bots hostile.

@@ghostapostle7225 It sure does, but this was about wasting the batteries themselves. An agent dies, its current host dies too. In the real world, the machines have to remove a corpse from the power plant. Swarm mode looks like it would result in a whole bunch of corpses. But, if I understood the exposition correctly, no it doesn't.

So on point about movie with unknown characters. Wasn't the original Matrix movie one with unknown characters? And the film became classic. Create a great story and people will watch unknown characters. The modern film making is obsessions with reboots, rehashes, origin stories and collaborations sometimes harm movies. My example of that is Cruella. IMO that movie would be so much better as original story not a lame ass attempt to create origin story of one of best villains in Disney world. That just makes the transition from fashion designer to sociopathic dog hater unexplaineable.

Just quickly the swarm mode are not real people they’re bots. Actual NPC’s just to be ready for anything that happens or any order they get. Thats why it shows a man wake up and his wife remains normal (human) and he jumps out the window with her screaming.

I think the swarm mode at the end could be read as the Analyst trying to pull all stops to stop Neo and Trinity... plus he was cocky about his productivity too :D

8:20 actually that is legit because Neo and Trinity can power the matrix indefinitely so the other human batteries become obsolete and easy to sacrifice.

And once again at the end of this I am happy that I don't watch Hollywood movies anymore. To me Matrix is still a Trilogy, Jurassic Park is still a Trilogy, the MCU ended with Endgame, Star Wars has only six movies in its series (the prequels grew on me) Logan was the last X-Men installment and Harry Potter had only eight movies in its franchise. I tell you, it's really peaceful inside my head having not watched all these godawful reboots and Sequels that came out in the last half decade. Real peaceful.

You giving too much leeway to the Wachowskis. Sure the first Matrix was incredible but the sequels were poor(not as terrible as Resurrections). And sure the V for Vendetta was great but they directed Jupiter Ascending which was a crapfest and dumpster fire. Lana Wachowski is as much to blame as WB imo.

Joseph Campbell's Heroes' Journey... I am sick of everyone and their mother using that template again and again. That's why I enjoyed Reloaded and Revolution a lot more because of it. This movie blows for sure but seriously feels like nobody wants to break that formula in a big blockbuster in a satisfying manner.

There is no "revival" of Star Wars prequel apologetics from anyone with taste. Phantom Menace was a transcendent masterpiece the day I saw it 25 years ago in theaters, and I've been saying as much for 25 years.

I went to this movie with much anticipation but in a theater with a capacity of almost 200 people there were only 7 people including me🤣 still i watched it. Slept halfway through. But enjoyed the climax.

This isnt even a story on its own. If you had never seen The Matrix, you wouldnt understand what is happening throughout the movie and why it could have meaning. If you have seen The Matrix, youll understand what a piece of crap this movie actually is. It felt like a big waste of time.

I remember someone showing that they didn't intend humans to be equivalent to batteries in the original, but processing power. They changed it because most wouldn't have caught on why Morpheus would hold up a CPU in stead of a battery.

Yeah saw the movie... got so disappointed. I love Keanu and Carry Ann Moss and that new asian girl in the movie but the direction and the editing and the action scenes were all so bad it pisses me off thinking about it too. The fourth one totally ruined the reputation of the Matrix

If they had let go of Neo and Trinity and carried the story from either the aftermath of the last movie with the whole machine civil war or show the next One's story in a new reboot. They could've added that the skies started clearing up and the machines could switch to solar power and the civil war could've been between the machines that wanted dispose of the humans and the machines that wanted to keep the humans because they grew fond of them.

My issue with all the Matrix sequels is how they act like Neo has superpowers, like flying, super speed, being able to see the code and kill agents. But that's not what happened in the first movie. He became the One by breaking the Matrix's limitations, and therefore he could do whatever he wanted in it, which is demonstrated by all the things he does when he comes back. Of course, such a character was too powerful and would render any sequel pointless, so they had to severely tone him down. The one exciting thing that happened in the sequels, for me, was him able to stop the sentinels in the "real world". I thought they would introduce the concept of multiple layers in the Matrix, and what humans thought was the real world was just another layer in the Matrix. But no, he was just Jesus.

So its a sequel, making fun of unnecessary sequels, while being a unassay sequel, sounds like it was made to fail to begin with, can tell they really didn't want this movie to be made, only making it for a "message" with no story really feels like it was made just to sabotage or something
