The Dallas Mavericks won game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves behind incredible performances from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and a poor showing from Anthony Edwards. #luka #mavs #lukadoncic
@@itsarnoldbruh its just a fact of what happened. mavs have been disqualified for the rest of the playoffs and no real nba fan will respect anything they do the rest of the way. sucks to be you virgin
Ant wasn't terrible, he was tired out by Kyrie. Never underestimate that locker room material... It's also to his credit that he went for 11 boards and 8 or 9 assists while his shot was off. I still am all-in on Dallas, but great players find other ways to be useful if their shots are off, the way Ant did.
Mavs fan here. This is 1 game and both coaches are going to adjust moving forward. I'm thrilled the Mavs won but Wolves are a good team and the job isn't finished.
@@dk6173 awwe that's good to know ty! It's hard to dislike Luka he's so damn good! And back in the day Nash was a Maverick and I was obsessed with him. Couldn't dislike Dirk either.
Who would have thought that when the Big 3 got broken up that Kyrie would be the one flourishing. But he is. Him and Luka are flourishing well together. After everyone said it wouldn’t work.
@@nadinepapazian Let respect Mavs opponents! Let say Mavs is just a little better. It was only 1 game, chill and prepare for 3 more wins this series!...
They work where one has to take a backseat. Kyrie had to step up when Luka was hurting early in the Clippers series. They're not complimentary in the sense that they play well side by side it's more of a I'll take over then you kinda pace
@@Luke-ul3xf mavs should be the underdogs in this series. They are going against a higher seed that beat the reigning champs and mvp. Mavs could definitely win, but I wouldnt have said they were the favorites coming into this series
@@TheFrostyMan21easier said than done...Mavs took away the paint and Ant was too tired from defending Kyrie to drive often. Either than Ant no other Wolves player can drive anywhere as well
@@karabomafa5609 it’s game 1 they will bounce back. They weren’t sure how to game plan for this one since this is really their first time truly seeing this squad this year. Finch will come up with something for them to get more paint touches and if not experience from the mavs will win out
Isn’t it interesting that Dallas can keep a huge team like Minnesota from attacking the basket? I find that fascinating given how poorly Dallas defended at the start of the season..
@@TheFrostyMan21 I don't doubt that Ant will bounce back... But I also don't think the Mavs shot the ball at all well from 3.. So the Mavs are also going to improve in that respect. The real question is, will the Wolves starting switching and sending doubles at Luka and Kyrie? Because those two could average 30 against this drop coverage
If I'm a T-Wolves player or coach, my biggest fear isn't Luka or Kyrie, it's that Lively just keeps getting more mature and capable with every game. The way Luka avails himself of him for screens is pure savage.
1:22 I don't know, man... tbh, Dallas didn't necessarily play as great as they could have. They couldn't buy a 3 ball until they hit a few in the 4th. If they had been shooting well, like they tend to do, this could've looked more like a blowout. Mavs were better defensively, looked like they were far more prepared, and better able to close out a tight game.
Ye. Ppl still overlook this fact. The wolves might be still #1 but the mavs are right up there and they are faaaaar better offensively even with an injured Luka.
@@theemotionalremix Well there's also DJJ and Exum DJJ a good defensive wing, lob threat, and decent shooter Exum great in regular season. Playmaking and shooting Won us at least 7 games. 50% from the 3.
@@toob_noob4381Facts. This Mavs team is pretty much entirely new. Literally 4 of their 5 best players not named Luka or Kyrie just joined this season, and even Kyrie only played 20 games with the Mavs before this season.
@@denizg2653 In a close game I’m taking Luka and Kyrie over Tatum and Brown. So as good as they matchup on paper when it gets down to clutch time and you need a bucket I trust the Mavs offense over the Celtics
@denizg2653 They need Porzingus back. Kornet and an old al horford don't match up well with young and active Gafford and Lively, they'll be getting lobs and offensive rebounds all day.
Nuggets fan here. Before Nuggets getting bounce from the play-off, I was looking at the teams in the West, and I felt both the Wolves and the Mavs were the most dangerous teams in the West, but I felt Dallas was both dangerous and a dark horse. I felt the Ky and Luka were the perfect pairing to Ky; as in the past Ky was most successful when paired with an uber facilitator like Lebron and now Luka. I always felt Ky was a better player than Steph if you evaluate them without their rings, and just compare their talent and capabilities objectively.
Kyrie isn’t better than Steph. Steph can lead and can be the #1 option. Kyrie can’t do those things. Kyrie works best as a #2 option. It worked in Cleveland like you mentioned, and it seems to be working here. He had his own team in Boston and he was just holding JT & JB back tbh. Kyrie is my favorite player but to say he’s better than steph is false. Steph’s playing style as the leader and #1 option are much more effective for wins. Kyrie may have a smoother game and a deeper bag, even a better defender than Steph. But he’s not all in all better than steph. Steph is considered top 10 all time by everyone and top 5 about half of people. Ky ain’t even make top 75 list.. (it was definitely a snub but that just goes to show) I will say however, season for season…Kyrie could’ve had Steph’s all star spot and it would’ve been deserved. And Kyrie being left off Olympic team is criminal
@@brixaabrixaa3390 I'm not refuting that. It is a team game after all. Lets talk hypothetical. Say Ky's quirkiness is toned down, and switch places with Steph in those GSW glory days, do you think GSW would achieve the same or more levels of accomplishments? Say, Ky didn't his quirkiness and was mature never left Lebron, would you think they would have won more rings together?
I expect this series to be more competitive going forward, Mavs have a 2 holes in the rotations with Maxi out and Hardaway playing for the opposing team. Unless Exum shows up or Green makes his open shots, I got Mavs in 6.
Mavs are gonna win in 6 but I gotta say I expected Minnesota to take game 1… Luka sniffing the finals is a very dangerous player 😂. If they keep leaving mcdaniels on an island Luka’s dropping 35 a night, if they double and trap PJ is just gonna go off. The Kyluka gravity is insane
@dentonyoung4314 yeah, you also can't predict someone will win 6 rings based on them having a few good playoff series against mediocre to bad defenses. The Phoenix Suns aren't exactly the Bad Boy Pistons lmao.
If these games are gonna be in the mud and close in the 4th quarter Dallas will win the series in 5. Everyone sleeps on the mavs defense when they’ve been the best defense for 3 months
Hey Tucker, please don’t take this the wrong way, but I am so happy with how you changed your video format the last few months. I have been subscribed for like 5 years now, and there was a year or 2 period where I really wasn’t happy with the content, but I think you really found your groove and a strong uploading schedule! Good job!
Nah this series might be over lol. Minnesota got a nearly perfect game from McDaniels, Dallas couldn’t hit a single 3, and Luka didn’t even have a good game.
Luka definitely had a GREAT game but I agree with the rest of your comment. He’s still hurting and not playing 100% (more like 90%) and pulled out an awesome game with not too many turnovers
@@cdeleon3494 No he didn't, you misunderstood his point. He was saying they got a near perfect game from a role guy and didn't win the game. That's it.
My guy is still convinced the Timberwolves lost rather than the Mavericks won. Still a more biased take than the youtuber who's name is literally "Slightly Biased"
Better beware when we start hitting those wiiiide open 3s been saying it every damn series I'm a MFFL and am still unaware of how good we actually are after that trade I'm nothing but thankful and greatful and hopeful for this group they deserve the absolute most
Jayson Tatum's a choker meanwhile Ant has that dawg in him apparently. Never forget that at just a year older than Ant's current age, Tatum already led his team to 2 wins away from a ring.
Last night shows how Ant still has a ways to go. He’s great, and hampered by needing to play elite defense every possession but…. Kyrie and Luka’s ability to create is FAR more developed than Ants. It was glaringly obvious in a side by side comparison last night. And it should be. They’ve been in the league longer. Gonna be a great series. But the wolves will struggle if they’re leaning heavily offensively on Jaden and… *checks notes * … Kyle Anderson?
Luka, Kyrie and Josh green. That’s effectively all that’s left from the team that went 5-11 last year when Kyrie arrived to “help” Doncic get over the hump. Nico Harrison, who I’ve trashed off and on this year, has done the fastest and most impressive rebuild I’ve ever seen. Any team could have acquired PJ, Gafford, Lively and Jones over the last 11 months but here they are in Dallas playing their best basketball of their careers. Maybe it’s partially luck since we thought Kuzma was a better fit but clearly could not have been. To win a playoff game shooting 6-25 from 3 is a testament to how good the defense is. WE WERE AWFUL DEFENSIVELY LAST YEAR!!!!!! Now we might be the best defense in the NBA and the best Mavs defense since the championship team. We shall see. To beat the Wolves and then Boston would be a remarkable accomplishment, on par with the wins in 2011-12.
Minnesota is really really similar to the 2022 Celtics, they also have trouble with late game offence all year long if you watched the wolves you’ll understand
That’s actually a really good comparison I’ve seen their offense get stagnant late in the game that’s why I didn’t know whether they would beat the Suns but they did.
We shall not forget that Dallas had a horrible terrible shooting night.. like they only shot about 4/5 threes for the whole game.??? They sucked at three and the game was really close even when Wolves were hot on the threes..
The Mavs played better in the second games of the previous series ..I see the Mavs win game two ... They have had the best defense in the playoffs and can play amazing defense .. This could be a sweep.
I always said Kyrie was argueably the best player to put next to Luka. He can run the offense when Luka rests, can play off the ball when next to Luka. My biggest concern was on the defensive side. Kyrie is a smaller guard, and Luka is never going to be an elite one on one defender because he doesn't have that type of athleticism. Dallas, to their credit, has put the perfect complimentary pieces next to them, which allows Luka and Kyrie to play to their strengths on defense, and because they compliment each each other so well on offense, they arent having to be the primary ball handler on every possession.
I genuinely had no idea why anyone though dallas wasn't the better team. it baffled me. this is pretty much the jazz of round one last wcf run. okc I had anxiety. this t-wolves team doesn't stand much of a chance. doncic has proven he knows how to play against gobert In a way that makes him almost a nothing on defence, and he's simply doing it again.
If the Wolves don't figure out how to stop the pick and roll, they have no chance. They have lost with the Mavs shooting terrible, what are they gonna do when the Mavs shoot well from 3? Rudy has to be much higher in the pick and roll and wings watch out for open 3s and cuts. To stop the Mavs offense they need focus and intensity. If they, somehow are able to stop Mavs offense, will have to figure out his own offense... Mavis in 5 and then, the championship in 6.
You really have a sense of humor!...🎉😅 After the Mavs started all previous series with a loss, it would be divine humor to start this series with 2 wins (or even 4)...😜😅🤣
I've started to dislike Luka after watching OKC-DAL series for his constant crying and arguing.. He is so good and fun to watch when he just plays the game. 4q was a masterpice.
Soft of agree but it’s just part of sports. Players sell/complain for foul calls across all of them. Hard not to when so much of the game teeters on it. Even playing pickup at your local gym there’s the same problem. Can’t imagine having a national title thrown in the mix.
The Nuggets were not an elite defense, they relied on their fire power and when it comes from an inconsistent player like Murray and inconsistent roleplayers you have what happened in that series, blow out after blow out. Mavs, especially after tonight, can be argued to be the best defense in the league and they just beat the Wolves with rebounding and scoring in the paint while they bricked countless WIDE OPEN three point shots. Ofc nothing is set in stone, theres too many variables like Luka and Kyrie could both play badly one game for example. But when you're playing against 1 of the best defenses in the League the results wont be all over the place like they were with Jokić. I dont think people realise the Nuggets have 0 allstars, 1st team all defense or all NBA players aside from Jokić. He is the only superstar to win a chip in his first 9 years with 0 of those. Media overhyped the Nuggets into some monstrous stacked team when it was a Jokić carry job.
@@DebasedAnon very true. the mavs do seem like a more balanced team so its such a tougher match up. that paint got tore up tonight idk how the wolves will rebound but we def will see!
Where this hatred of Dallas comes from I have no idea. You are aware they won the game right? But somehow I’m watching YOUR HIGHLIGHTS and it’s just one Wolves highlight after another. Not really what’s normally done hoss. Townes goes 6-20 but you make a point of showing every basket he made LOL…..Maybe a little love for the defense PJ and friends played against him? Weird video. You are saying one thing BUT SHOWING ANOTHER. Do you edit this stuff or do you have a friend from Duluth who does it for you?
Where all the casuals who said kyrie and luka wouldn’t work together at ? Anyone with a brain knew this team would make the conference finals after the gafford and Washington signing…mavs were only bad last year cause they had no rim protection or wing defenders now they do
The Wolves shot 37% from 3 on 49 shots The Mavs shot 50% from 3 The mavs shot 70% in the paint on the DPOY The wolves missed their chance and they folded in the last 2 minutes of the game Mavs in 6!
sorry man, unsubbing....i like your takea, but i hate that you do that yt sports content creator thing wherw you only have 3 minutes worth of stuff to say, so you just repeat yourself over and over to get the video to that 9 min mark.....ill come back one day.and give you another try, but i hope you won't continue doing it the way you have been
Isn’t it interesting that Dallas can keep a huge team like Minnesota from attacking the basket? I find that fascinating given how poorly Dallas defended at the start of the season..
Yeah counting the lineups with the likes of AJ Lawson, Grant Williams, and Dwight Powell playing doesn’t really make sense in assessing the current team’s defensive capabilities.
