The megalithic rock sanctuary of St. Mina is located near of the village of Mechkul - the region of Sredna Struma, Simitli municipality.
Archaeological research in the area has established that there have been settlements here since the Neolithic (7000-3000 BC). Field archaeological research in the area of the nearby village of Krupnik proves the existence of a significant ancient settlement of the Thracian tribe of the Medes.
In the area of the sanctuary no in-depth archaeological research has been carried out, which is why it is difficult to make a complete and accurate characterization of the cult site. Apparently, the site was part of a large rock complex, which the locals call the "stone city".
In the 1950s, the residents of Mechkul collected funds and built a chapel near the village of Amina, whose patron Saint Mina was chosen. Every year on November 11, the residents of Mechkul and the surrounding villages give a sacrifice for health and luck.
