Exploring the remains of the Meltham Branch line in Huddersfield from Lockwood to Meltham finding the railway stations and remains ( junction to netherton tunnel northern portal )
Awesome video! I live in Australia since 2001, I grow up around the corner from beautmont park. Used to always explore the old rail line but never knew the history about it! Brings back memories :) cheers :)
Really interesting. I live near Woodfield station (Eva told me about your RU-vid). I particularly enjoyed modern views at the far end of Butternab and on to Netherton tunnel. I’ve never seen those views before but always wanted to. Looking forward to part 2 today!
Thank you ! He’s this video kicked off my channel ! Eva did walk the whole line with me over a year ago ! And that section of the line spiked my whole interest in disused railways ! Glad you enjoyed it ! However I do think Woodfield station was more further south west from where I originally thought Enjoy part 2 ! I’m also looking to re boot these videos with more maps and other things discoverd 😃
Just at the start he line after it leaves the Penistone line was a siding where they used to park the carriages of the South Yorkshireman express. As a teenager i used to go and sit in the first class carriages with my friends. T
Great video Ashton, but you were wrong about Woodfield Castle. The building just inside the park was popularly known as 'The Castle', but was actually built as, and served as, refreshment rooms for visitors to the park and included accomodation for the lessee and family.
First thanks for the video I have never explored this end of the line. When showing graphics they need to be good quality and preferably stay still so that we can study them. And stick to Railway Station not train station
