I was at this show. I remember they soundchecked Blockbuster with David while we were in line waiting to get in. But when they did this during the show, it was epic! And being like 15 and never getting to see Jesus Lizard, I wasn't ready for Yow on top of me. Great show all the way!
Kurt would have loved this, the Melvins were his heroes, and more importantly his friends. When two bands are friends they cover each other songs all the time, this is totally normal!
David Yow is doing a generous cover of their song using HIS OWN style. That does not mean any of them are making fun of the song at all. David and Buzz were both huge fans of Kurt and his music
Not true at all. Jury was a huge fan of Scratch Acid and The Jesus Lizard. David in no way reciprocated those feelings adulation. The Jesus Lizard opened for Nirvana on one of their last tours and just talked about how much a bummer it was. Mudhoney said the same thing and neither Mark Arm nor David Yow has ever said they were fans of Nirvana’s music. I sure they dug Kurt as a person, at least Mark did, but that’s probably about it.
Andrew Lakritz not true, David has said he was a fan of nirvana’s music, esp after the first time Jesus lizard played with them in 90. He just said the 93 show was a bummer cuz Kurt was barely functional.
this is so much better than the original, and i love nirvana. but i'm so bored with this song, i can't hear it anymore. and everything david yow sings is great. he sounds completely insane, like a psychopath. god, this is so great. i love it. so much better.
I could never figure out those those absolute morons who do not actually get that what people like Yow and Buzz are doing is nothing but scorn the big corporate music industry as a whole - EXACTLY that which did their CHILDHOOD FRIEND´s right in ( directly or indirectly ) , they are hardly scorning Kurt , the TRAP ( and all which comes with it - yeah , you can´t think of a single ONE of them who walked right into that world and didn´t , either became a Bono ( e.g. Eddie Vedder , but that was never truly any punk or grunge , was it ? ) or a CORPSE ( Staley, Cornell, Chester etc. etc ) he walked right into rather .

@hearsedriver100 of course this is silly. can't you have any sense of humour about it? like the point is that this is hilarious and the melvins are just having fun playing this in such silly way as possible. like when theres a band (nirvana) who came from underground punk rock scene and later on their song gets on the top of some lameass pop charts and today we see ppl like miley cyrus covering it, that just shows how unseriously can the song be taken anymore.
I would like to see how you can validate that statement. I can't remember that ever being stated by either the Melvins or The Jesus Lizard,in words or attitude. As far as "Genius" goes...that is up to the person stating it,I guess. I never thought of Kurt of being that at all,talented, of course..calling him a genius is a little too much.
