The fact that this meme inspired cinemas to bring the movie back only for it to flop again makes the meme a resounding success. Very rarely do corporations trying to capitalise on a meme actually add to the meme
Did you know in the 2022 film "Morbius", the line "it's morbin time" was not in the original script. When Jared Leto improvised the line the entire cast and crew including director Daniel Espinoza all burst into tears. Espinoza instantly knew the power of that line would propel morbius into being the best movie of 2022 and decided to keep it in the film.
@@fabriziocarbajalpimentel4700 Leto will surely get an academy award for his brilliant method acting, actually turning into a vampire and the delivery of the line "it's morbin time". I'm truly surprised at how few people are mentioning the scene where morbius chases the anti morb forces in his morb bus, after catching them and defeating them in battle, he acquires the morb orb, which reduces his cool down time between morbs by 4%. Absolutely the best chase scene ever shown or conceived of in cinema.
This is a prime example of "laughing at you, not with you." Sony thought people wanted to see their movie again cuz of the online chatter, when really we just got a kick outta making fun of it 😂
The icing on the cake for me is that I bought tickets to see Morbius tonight. My friend and I had yet to see it and thought the re-release would be a good time to witness it for the memes. And then no more than 30 minutes later we receive tornado and flooding warnings in our area. Not even the universe itself wanted us to see this abomination in all its Morbin' Glory
I went to see it with a group of theatre kids, and we all sat in the theater and talked the whole movie because there was one other guy there and the whole time he was on his phone. as soon as the credits rolled that guy was OUT of there lmao didn't even get to see the post credits scenes
If you went to the cinema, you would have had to stay there all night. You could watched Morbius over and over agaib but you didnt. I hope you are ashamed of yourself
The only meme with a larger impact that I can think of was “We are number one” where the funds raised by the meme helped that actor out of cancer before it unfortunately came back. Truly morbin time will live on in the internet graveyard
Jared Leto could announce it was all a social experiment and it would make more sense than the collective existence of this movie and it's surrounding ethos.
I still can’t believe when Charlie popped out at the end screaming, “it was all a morbin joke!” and proceeded to give Morbius, for the first time ever, a 15 out of 2
Can’t wait for the upcoming sequels: Morbius 2: more bius Morbius 3: the morb the merrier Morbius 4: back for morb Morbius 5: morb money morb problems Morbius 6: mighty morbin Morbius 7: morby road Morbius 8: to morb or not to morb Morbius 9: I’ve lost morb than you know but nows no time to morb Morbius X: nevermorb
People often say that Morbius is absolutely one of the movies of all time, but now we can also say that Morbius is now 2 of the movies ever released to cinemas
To be fair, Leto’s joke at least had a level of subtlety, as opposed to him going out and just saying “It’s morbin time”. PR stunt or not, it makes him look at least able to take a joke if not rather cringe. I respect that.
yeah, spiderman actors kinda does the same shit too and i would bet charlie is alright with that. if anything charlie just hate him cuz of the cult thingy lol, and tbh i would too if i knew who tf Jared Leto is outside of this absolute unironic meme of a human being
When they discussed putting this movie back into theaters there must've been not one person under 40 years old anywhere nearby who could've explained that the meme is the opposite of people having interest in this movie.
I feel like they probably did understand that the memes were about how bad it was, they just thought that the memes would be enough to get people to actually pay to watch the movie in theaters ironically. Obviously, that was clearly never going to happen though
Try under 60. Millenials are in their 40s now, and Internet memes have been around since 1990 at the latest. Sony execs are as clueless as Senator Alan Simpson who thought "kids these days" had to "pull their pants up" and were calling themselves "Snoop Doggy Poop Dog" when Snoop was already a grandfather.
Seems like only boomers are actually interested in going to the theater based on what’s going on with Top Gun. Why wouldn’t they just stream this, seems more likely that the memes translate to clicks better.
This is probably one of the only times a meme died with a bang. It didn’t die due to spam and overexposure of people misunderstanding what the meme was made for, or just fizzling out because new memes became popular. This time, the ones that unintentionally created the meme tried to capitalize on it, and lost a lot of money thinking they could get a second chance. Just beautiful. Just saw a bot copy my post. I think I’m honored?
@@YoungDeathWish true, but it’s a bit different compared to overexposure of people running the meme into the ground for no reason like Uganda knuckles.
That could be possible.....if people actually watched the film. Plus the film itself isn't super hated or remotely memorable, it's just bland. I feel like the sincerity aspect will come more from fan communities making their own versions of Morbius based on what people are pretending the movie's about.
i find it hilarious how people will unrionically repeat the exact same meme without variation for weeks straight but the second jared letho acknowledges the meme it's apparently unfunny now
Morbius was, by far, one of the highest grossing films of all time, due to it selling 40 Morbillion tickets. Shame to see it end like this, but let's not forget that whoever said, "it's morbin time", made the film truly morb.
How is a meme dead just cause the people its about embraces it? Just sounds like whenever someone's trying to make fun of you and what they said made you laugh and that makes them angry
i didn’t think he killed the meme i thought it was pretty funny by him. the meme isn’t about jared it’s about the film. he’s allowed to make fun of the garbage movie too
I think the problem is how Jared Leto joking of having script of Morbius 2. Whether it's fake or not, the fact that the script exist in our minds subconsciously is kind of annoying since no one wants to see Morbius again. This is also a bad idea but I want Jared Leto to have jokingly promote the re-release of Morbius with "It's Morbin time" line instead of showing a script. The meme would definitely be dead, but at least we have new meme template.
@@ismellmandude6401 Im not one of them but i think its cause of this. So heres an example, when a kid does something funny without trying (such as spilling a drink on his shirt) people laugh n all. Then the kid wants to make them laugh more by spilling it twice and making jokes out of it. Then the people who laughed arent laughing no more cause hes doing it too much and its dead This is the logic thats going in my head
It's definitely about Jared Leto lol. He's the star of the garbage movie. He IS Morbius. He put so much time and effort into this role, going so far as to go to the bathroom in a wheelchair to stay in character lmfao. Now he's trying to be like "yeah, hahah. Im in on the joke too." No, bro. You ARE the joke.
I still think it's hilarious that thousands, perhaps millions of people managed to gaslight a billion-dollar company into re-releasing their movie through constant ironic memes.
and yet they were convinced the hype was genuine there has to have been SOMEONE at Sony who realized all these memes were an ironic joke and that flopping again was inevitable
We've gotten to the point in internet culture where ironic memes can artificially inflate the popularity of a mediocre movie. I'm not sure if I should be happy or alarmed that memes have become so powerful.
There is also the inverse were memes can artificially inflate the popularity of a great movie that didn't get enough attention. The Road to El Dorado got allot more attention and respect because of meme culture.
This is so very saddening. My morbin heart is aching. Never did I think in a morbillion years that this would die out. Morbius will live forever in my deviated heart.
I honestly don't think that Jared Letho killed it. He embraced the meme and by so laughs at sony too. Man's got some horribly written characters to play.
The funniest thing about the joke “it’s morbing time”, is that it’s never said in the movie, but did anyone know that? No they didn’t, because it was so bad no one would ever consider watching it
Honestly, that's actually a really smart move, if the person being made fun of embraces it and makes fun of himself too actually ruins the experience, Jared Leto probably did that on purpose to ruin the meme, he probably got sick of being made fun of.
Well memes never truly die, as there are people (I am one of them) who use “dead” memes either to shitpost, because they like it or maybe some other reason
I will continue to laugh at corporations who continue to try distilling memes into profit. It is like watching them try to catch lightning in a bottle but they themselves keep getting struck.
It’s odd because if the memes caused a Morbius sequel to actually happen, I’d be very interested to find out whether they take a joking tone with the film or try and actually make a fantastic film with a new writing team and better people on the direction team. Granted a sequel should never happen ever, but it would be interesting.
@@everettenjeze6276 i didn't ask about his acting specifically, i am not questioning his acting abilities, i am asking if he was in any decent movie, since every movie I've seen him in has been a flop.
When morbious sacrficed himself at the end of the morbiousverse of madness and said: "...i am morbin-man" i cried and shat myself in theather, rip michael morbious, truly one of the superheroes of all time.
"The meme Is dead, and the cause Is cringe" It may could be but I don't care, for the rest of my life It Will be Morbin' time, and nothing will stop the morb in my soul, MORBIUS FOREVER
At this point the definition of "Morbin'" needs to be "to commit to a joke to the point where one reaches financial loss and total loss of humorous effect"
Nah this was the least cringe thing that has ever been posted about the meme. Jarod did a good job, he did the joke. I told people this was what was gonna happen, it old everyone they would take the meme seriously and now Sony re released the movie, honestly I think the meme is even greater now
If this is the only time he officially acknowledges the meme then I think it's fine. If he tries to beat it into the ground after everyone else did then it's a big ol' fat L
Excactly! Memes just Morbed the movie back in theaters! And Jared Leto is into it! It's just getting more and more epic. Thanks, Michael Morbius for inspiring us all. It's morbin' time!
Still, I'll never forget one of the greatest lines in film of all time: "All those morbs will be lost in time, like tears in rain." Truly a masterpiece.
What’s even more wild to me is the fact that despite how horrendously the movie was received by literally anyone with an at least partially functioning brain, this steaming piece still managed to be a net positive for Sony. The budget for Morbius was $75-90 mil and it still managed to scrape up $163 mil worldwide. As much as I want to agree with Charlie and call this a “colossal failure” - and in many ways it sure as hell is - it’s still a win as far as Sony’s concerned 😒
Marketing isn't included in the normal budget so if you throw that in they might have still made more then they spent but it's not a win. Sony wanted to make marvel level of money and either netted zero or a little higher, so it sort of still flopped. It's also embarrassing to re-release the movie expecting it will magically rake in money to get shit on by the whole internet.
"Morbius is not about failing, Morbius is about leaving an impact for generations to come. It's better to bad but amusing rather than being average and uninteresting." -Sun Tzu, The Art of Morb.
Look, those bitches don't break when you take care of them. And the mic is pretty neat so even I, a Samsung and Tozo 11 user, can respect it. And Charlie is eons ahead of us, back off of him.
You can clearly see his actual super expensive streamer microphone and he lives in a mid sized house, so why would he need headphones? I feel like it’s just a meme at this point and they’re not actually hooked up to anything.
@@TheDirtysouthfan think they're plugged into the mic so he can replay what he's saying in realtime to make sure there aren't any fuckups, idk how people are able to talk while listening to themselves in realtime cause it fucks my focus personally but some people just are
I’d watch it, morbius is the best movie, they need to make a morbius vs joker Snyder edition I’d love that movie!!! My two favorite characters played by the best actor Jared Leto!
It wouldn't surprise me if these out of touch film producers see the memes for Morbius and mistake them for genuine hype around the movie, so they think people actually want a sequel.
I don't agree with your take on Leto's participation. Weirdo or not, I'd much rather him try to laugh at the joke than get defensive. I thought it was mildly funny, which is on par with the meme overall.
@@typhonnix yeah, personally (excluding some cases) I love seeing bigger corps or famous folk dabble in memes, it's a mix of weirdness and lack of expecting it that makes it funny for me
When Morbius flew onto the screen last minute to save the girl and said "It's Morb...Just in time" I literally fainted. I couldn't handle the most amazing written line in all of cinema.
I can't believe they put it out of cinemas, because they were unable to print more tickets and when they brought it back it sold a trillion tickets again. A Morbstmas Miracle
My entire family died due to crowd crush trying to get into the Morbius movie. It was worth it however to watch Michael Morbius defeat Milo for the 59th time that day 🥳🥳
Gonna be honest, I don't see how Jared Leto acknowledging the meme is "cringe". I mean, I don't want to excuse the awful shit associated with him either, but I think what REALLY killed it was Sony rereleasing it only for it to bomb again. Even then, it was more a funny ending than insulting.
When Jared Leto acknowledges Morbin’ time, he is criticized for ruining the meme. When Kumalala acknowledges his duty to fight Savesta, he is praised as a warrior. This shows how we truly live in a society
Idk about Kumalala but Jared Leto killed the meme because it's how he delivers the joke. No one wants to see a "script" of Morbius 2 whether it's fake or not. He should have delivered the line instead of showing it. Atleast we will have a new meme template for Morbius memes.
Can't believe that Charlie would just lie about one of the, if not the, movie of all time, when it actually made a morbillion times more money than the first release, he just wants all the tickets for himself
I desperately want this meme to survive because it's one of the few good memes this year. Most of the popular memes this year have been so fucking mid-to-shit that something as stupid as "Morbin' time" was enough to send me.
Regardless of who Jared Leto is I feel like that contribution wasn’t even a bad version. If he leaned into it and have made 200 posts about it it’d kill it but this was a pretty tasteful addition to the meme
“You can’t hurt me if I’m in on the joke!” -Ugly Sonic in Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers, another 2022 movie that the Internet only cares about for the memes, Jack!
I’m 100% sure that Sony saw the memes and was all like “Hey they really love the movie let’s release it again” just so the movie can fail twice. The funny thing about this meme is it was the only good thing about the movie in first place.
The rerelease really just feels like a public service. Out of the kindness of their hearts, Sony gave us the perfect sendoff to these morbin' times just to make the meme even better at the last second.
Morbius is honestly the best movie I’ve ever seen. I know it sounds crazy, but it touched me. I came thrice while watching it in the theatres. I’m so glad we finally get to see Jared Leto, my favourite actor of all time, in the role of Morbius the living vampire. I thought the plot of the movie was very entertaining and original, and I never could have seen the twists coming. This is a really good change from all this Hollywood propaganda we’ve been fed over the last few decades. The industry needs more people like Leto to play such diverse roles. I could really see myself in the character Morbius, he’s really relatable and fun and quirky. Overall, Morbius is the best cinema experience I’ve ever had and nothing will ever top it. I’ll cherish this memory for the rest of my life, I’ll remember the fabric of the seats and the sweaty atmosphere in the theatre. When Morbius first got on screen, me and the other man who went to watch cheered as loud as we could. I was so lucky to be able to have an almost empty room to see the movie so I wasn’t annoyed by exterior noises while watching. In fact, every time I went to rewatch it now that I think about it, the room was empty. My guess is that everyone was so shocked by Leto’s incredible, revolutionary and profound acting that they had to leave the room. I’m repeating myself, but Morbius is and will always be a true classic, a masterpiece between trash movies from money-hungry studios. When I tell myself I’m watching a movie, Morbius is the kind of cinematic experience I’m waiting for. It was way better than The Batman (2022) and now my favourite movie of all time, a direct cult classic. I’d recommend avidly. 11/10.
Oh come on, at least allow him to cope with the fact that his movie sucks by letting him in on the joke he HELPED create bro... (Though the re-entering theaters is just gold)
