We trace Mr. Kazuo Inamori's thoughts and feelings through the video interview he gave us in 2012, 10 years ago.

When I was a child, I often looked up at Sakurajima from Shiroyama, Kagosima City. I still think about it.
Kazuo Inamori has a special place in his heart for his hometown of Kagoshima.
He has founded numerous companies, including Kyocera and KDDI, and has led them to success with his strong management skills.
Mr. Inamori, one of Japan's most respected leaders, has actually had a series of setbacks in his life.
He suffered from tuberculosis as a child, failed two entrance examinations, and graduated from Kagoshima University with a degree in engineering.
After graduating from Kagoshima University with a bachelor's degree in engineering, he finally found a job at a company in Kyoto, but the company was on the verge of bankruptcy.
He says that he almost lost heart again and again.
However, it was his "dream" that kept him going.

After the war, Kagoshima City was burnt to the ground in an air raid, and my house was also burnt to the ground. I was very poor, so I had a big dream: 'When I grow up, I want to somehow show filial piety to my parents, who suffered so much, and bring them as much joy as I can.
The “big dream” that Mr. Inamori mentioned. It was to please my parents.
Later, Mr. Inamori founded a company with eight of his colleagues, which is now Kyocera Corporation.
As an engineer at this small factory in a small town, Mr. Inamori devoted himself to the development of ceramics.
Oil shocks and recession
Despite the various difficulties that confronted him, Inamori and all of his employees faced the work in front of them.
After work, Inamori and his colleagues enjoyed drinking together.
At these drinking parties, known as "compa," they discussed their dreams for the future until the wee hours of the night.
We are going to make this the best company in the world.
Eventually, their efforts bore fruit.
The company produced one after another products that enriched people's lives, from television components and medical devices to cell phones and solar panels.
One after another, they produced products that enriched people's lives, and the small town factory soon grew to a company with more than 70,000 employees.
Overcoming adversity, Mr. Inamori has paved the way for the times.
To those who live in this era of stagnation, let me offer this message.

First of all, I would say that we should be thankful. I believe that if we can live our lives without complaining or grumbling and with a heart of gratitude to those around us and to everything, no matter what adversity or circumstances we find ourselves in, we can become a person who receives support from everyone. I believe that we can become a person who receives support from everyone.
In times of adversity, we must never forget our dreams and gratitude.
The words Inamori left behind in his hometown of Kagoshima were filled with the kind thoughts of a top leader who has sincerely worked his way up through a life of hardship.
