An idea I had: During the final boss fight against Venom Snake, he tells a speech on being manipulated and soldiers not having free will, then he reveals the horn, makes a final statement and the fight begins. First timers will think he is merely talking about the government, while already knowing fans will understand Venom is reflecting on how the actual Big Boss used him to glorify himself by spreading his legend during the Phantom Pain Incident, making him a huge hypocrite. This would look epic af.

I bought the collectors edition or whatever it was called, that came with the full length movie made out of mostly all the game's cinematics. I heard from somewhere that the reason Kojima wanted the separate keycards is to increase the feel of panic when you're discovered and you're desperately rifling through your inventory to find the correct card, it's also a bit of a nerf to resetting everything by changing zones (which idk if they had the technology to fix that back then)

I’ve had the idea for the longest time to turn Metal Gear 1 into “MGS0: Outer Heaven.” Bullet-point summary below: • Retconned backstory: Venom Snake gets nanomachine injections sometime after MGSV to assist with a robotic surgery done by Dr. Madnar to remove his shrapnel horn. The surgery succeeds, but the nanomachines are prototypes that damage his psyche and make him go insane. He stops doing things according to Big Boss’s plans by 1995 and goes rogue. Venom acts a clown basically and gets the world concerned that OH has nukes, and the UN demands an investigation be done. Big Boss determines he needs to assassinate Venom and take over OH for himself and get things back on track for his eventual plan to overthrow Cipher. • Solid Snake has his own Virtuous Mission: “Operation N311 ‘Bloodhound.’” He infiltrates Seychelles Mother Base, now a FOB that Outer Heaven has mostly abandoned, to find out if they really do have a Metal Gear. He doesn’t find any conclusive evidence (just as Big Boss secretly hoped for - a lack of evidence could be used as damage control and quell any suspicions.) But the mission goes wrong when he’s confronted by Venom Snake, who now goes by that codename and wears a masquerade mask to conceal his face, and long-sleeved clothing and gloves to hide his bionic arm. Venom foils Solid’s mission and distracts him until the base begins to be demolished by C4 detonation. Solid barely escapes with his life and enters a coma for 9 days. • During that 9-day period, Gray Fox goes on his N312 mission to Outer Heaven’s main base to assassinate Venom. He fails and is captured. • We finally get to N313 “Intrude.” The way it plays out combines narrative elements of both the MSX2 and NES versions of the original game, with new stuff as well as references to the rest of the series. For example: - Solid Snake parachutes into a jungle just south of the facility, while “Beta Squad” lands closer to the fortress to distract their defenses and allow Solid to sneak in. - The resistance against OH is none other than the Gindra Liberation Front - yes, I partially “canonize” Ghost Babel but also retcon its world-building a ton. - The first boss, Shotmaker, being former Spetsnaz, is acquainted with Ocelot, and is clued in on Solid Snake’s origins. He mocks and teases him about it during the fight without revealing too much. - I combined the Machine Gun Kid, helicopter (MSX2,) and turrets (NES) encounters into one singular fight, with the turrets in question being AA guns turned against Solid Snake on foot, and Machine Gun Kid mans one of them. The helicopter is piloted by Pequod. - The tank fight is replaced by the scrapped Battle Gear concept from MGSV. - Bloody Brad is replaced by the “Firebolt;” basically Volgin/“The Man on Fire’s” semi-conscious body attached to a cybernetic exoskeleton powered by his innate electrical powers. He wields both electricity and fire. Solid Snake **finally** puts Volgin to permanent rest by blowing him up. - Dirty Duck is replaced entirely by the scrapped Adult Chico concept from MGSV. Lore is Venom found and recruited him in Africa (originally intended for V but left on the cutting room floor,) and he has Mist Unit abilities. - Venom Snake pretends to be Big Boss to destroy his reputation. Basically “if I’m going down, I’m taking you with me.” He actually pilots TX-55, you take it down by firing rockets and hurtling grenades at its legs. When Solid destroys the mech, Venom climbs out, uses a remote to activate the self-destruct, and engages Solid personally. His nanomachines are an early prototype of Vamp’s from MGS2 and 4; Venom Snake isn’t immortal, but bullets don’t kill him. Solid has to use rockets to blow him to bits. At the end of the fight, the now-disfigured Venom pleads for Solid to kill him, similar to The Boss with Big Boss, but Solid refuses to do it, saying the world would be a better place “if people could just put the gun down.” - Like MGS3, Solid Snake gets his own long ladder-climbing sequence at the end, with “Here’s To You” from MGSV playing in the background. Like MGS4, half the screen would also show Venom Snake slowly dying on the floor, smoking one last phantom cigar. • After Outer Heaven is destroyed by the bombing campaign mentioned in Metal Gear 2, the GLF believe their leader (retconned Kyle Schneider) was unalived in the explosion, and initiate a vengeful independence war against South Africa, with their new leader vowing to have revenge on the West. This sets up a possible Ghost Babel remake that fits with the canon. • Kaz Miller joins FOXHOUND after hearing about the supposed “death” of Big Boss in South Africa, assuming it was Venom, in order to train Solid to one day fight the real man. • The after-credits phone call is Ocelot talking to the real Big Boss about Venom’s failed uprising, and how Cipher has been replaced by The Patriots AI system. He’ll infiltrate the Patriots to help Solidus Snake try to find a way to take the system down. Finally, he bids a somewhat emotional farewell to Big Boss, remarking that that call could be the last time they talk to each other, and wishes him luck in “Zanzibaristan.” He finds it poetic that Big Boss’ ultimate plan will culminate where everything started - confirming the fan theory that Tselinoyarsk is Zanzibar Land, and setting up the MG2 remake…

All great ideas, I'm very impressed!! While MG1&2 remakes would have been the obvious choices, I think an MGS3 Remake was definitely the right move to regain a LOT of lost goodwill in both Konami and the Metal Gear IP now that Kojima won't be working on it (as long a they don't fumble the ball...Delta needs to be amazing). As long as Delta is good, that will revitalize the IP and bring in a TON of new eyes on it as well which would be exciting. The next move is to capitalize on it by making MG1&2 remakes/reimaginings; returning players from Delta will love to have more quality Metal Gear content, and even old fans who were too skeptical to get Delta should decide to cross the pond having heard how good Delta was since they'll be getting somewhat new Metal Gear content after more than 10 years. How could anyone resist? If Konami play their cards right, they might see a spike in consumer trust and engagement like what's been happening with Capcom ever since they released Resident Evil 2 Remake. They'll be the new posterboys of the gaming industry. Now let's hope they're smart.

I think for the South Africa portion of this hypothetical remake it could tie in a lot with MGSV. For example the Bloody Brad cyborgs could be replaced with members of the Skulls unit that were caught and brought back to Mother Base by Venom along with adding soldiers on D-Walkers as enemies. On harder difficulties like Extreme for the final boss against Venom he could even be wearing the Parasite suit granting him access to their abilities like in MGSV for an added challenge.

21:47 That backstory would not work because Solid Snake told Naomi word for word that he first met Gray Fox on the battlefield being held a prisoner of Outer Heaven. MG2:SS is in particular a masterpiece in terms of story, and has interesting gameplay despite many backtracking and cryptic things, this is criminal to not remake it (maybe by adding the dialogue during which Big Boss reveals he is Snake’s father, making the fight against Grey Fox more epic, giving more Codec calls when you are stuck and maybe even integrating some MGS3 survival elements, since both games take place on the same place).

I remember having an embarrassingly long argument in a YT comment section trying to argue that Metal Gear 1& 2 should be remade. Like many (but not all) MGS fans who who push for this, I had never *actually* learned how to play MG1&2 and was simply a salty about falling off the learning curve that I couldn't see past the old graphics and no voice acting. But now I can definitely say that I adore MG1&2 just as they are (especially 2) and personally feel they never did and never will need a remake beyond the Subsistence update. 1 is a somewhat tough sell if you aren't a hardcore fan but MG2 is still an incredible game and once you learn how it works, you realize how bonkers ahead of it's time it was and how it's aged as well as Super Mario World (which came out the same year)

I would love for them to be remade, but maybe not just yet.... Instead, we start with 3 as we already are, and then remake the games in in-universe chronological order. - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater [remade as Delta.] - Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops [built within the Phantom pain engine and altered to better match it's scope rather than being just a remake of the handheld game.] - Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker [as above.] - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [Included in The Phantom Pain as originally planned as well as one or more additional missions where you return to it within TPP's story.] - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain [A graphical remaster at most, very little would need to be done to what currently exists..... put the money into finishing the game and adding the 3rd act that got cut.] - Metal Gear [Your idea.] - Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake [Your idea.] - Metal Gear Solid [Full delta treatment, perhaps with additional content that had to be cut from the original.] - Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty [As above.] - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots [As above, but for the love of crap trim the cutscenes or at least replace segments with playable versions.... 71 minutes at the end.... NO, show restraint.] - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance [Full remake where you better realise the original vision of the CUT ANYTHING gameplay. DO NOT lay a finger on the soundtrack or hammy acting.] Ghost Babel, Acid, Acid 2, Mobile and even Survive too, IF they can be fit into the timeline and adjusted to be canon. [At the least, include these and portable ops in a master collection volume so we can have all games in one place.]

I think that Kojima should do the favor and cooperate with Konami to make a GZ-TPP style remake. As you said Max, it'd be absolutely epic. Imagine playing like in TPP games with huge scenarios and variety (especially Zanzibar). I though, would implore Kojima to think about the first MGS (1998) in order to depict the personality of a young Solid Snake, more idealist and loyal to his country, the US, while focusing the hole production about the theme of "youth", its strength and the infinite possibilities for it to change the future. I would love seeing an inexpert Snake learning from Fox (literally, with more moves available in following stages of the game) and grow a strong friendship, destined to end dramatically in the second segment. The Bosses should be emphasized with the respective backgrounds, and the protagonist's growth told with timed and deeply meaningful cutscenes. I loved how MGS broke the 4th wall; I wish to see that again. And my dream, Max, would be fighting Gray Fox in a rainy night battlefield, the two soaked and gazing grim, ready to fight, with explosions all around them. We know Snake was helped by the local resistance against the regime... and I remember the spoils of African families destroyed and burnt alive in MGS 5. Easy to imagine a game that denounces the world's worst acts of infamy and ruthless slaughter of innocence, with the West turning the blind eye. About Venom and the real Big Boss: I just wish to see the emotional battles and philosophical premises of these showdowns, and how the losses Snake endured along the story tempered his character. All this simply CANNOT be made by Konami's butchers. We need a fine hand and head: We need Kojima-Sama
@BORN753

The other thing is that some part of the global narrative is developing in order of game releases, not in chronological order of games' stories. You learn more about things mentioned in MGS1 and 2 later in MGS3, which chronologically now is first to be remade. So if they remake other games, some things won't be as mysterious and confusing for new players, and the way they are presented in originals would look strange for a player who is already aware of them. So that would warrant some changes, and I don't think anyone trusts Konami to change the story of those games.

As we all know, Big Boss became villain in Metal Gear 1 and 2 because of events during Snake Eater, when he was forced to kill The Boss, his mentor and mother figure, how Zero treated him as tool for sake of his own ego ever since he created Patriots with Philosopher's Legacy and betrayed him with Les Enfants Terribles project, and all the things he went through in Peace Walker and MGS 5 have caused him to become disillusioned with every country's governments, about how they treated soldiers as political tools, likw how he and The Boss were used for personal political gains rather than for protecting their country. With many Metal Gear games that expanded the Big Boss's lore, his motivations in MG1 and MG2 became more clear. However, with expanded lore, if they were to remake Metal Gear 1 and 2, they would have to make Big Boss in MG2's final boss fight explain to his son, Solid Snake, about why he did he do all of that, how he was betrayed by his own government and wishes for soldiers to not walk the same path that he and The Boss did.

I love the idea of the Metal Gears being just slightly choppy in its animation so it looks like stop motion animation of a miniature.

I don’t know if this is a hot take, but as much as I love David Hayter, the dude is 55 years old; He’s not a spring chicken anymore and I think it might not be a bad idea to get a new, younger actor to play a younger Snake. Also, if the games are gonna be combined into one humongous adventure, they could get Kiefer Sutherland back to play Venon Snake in the first half of the game and Hayter could play John in the second

Here's how they can do it: frame it as a sequel to MGS V! Take the original stories and merge them under one roof, sure, but incorporate all the ret-cons and new themes, and then make it less a prequel and more a sequel that brings the Metal Gear series full circle. Metal Gear Solid VI: Outer Heaven.

When MGSV came out, I was really hoping that it was leading to MG and MG2 remakes in the Fox Engine. They would have fit right in with MGSV's episodic format and we could have had two smaller, detailed maps closer to the scope of Ground Zeroes. I prefer GZ to TPP and would have loved two more maps like Camp Omega to do missions on.

Timeline and review wise it makes a lot more sense to remake MGS3 first. It’s by far considered the best one, so it will sell well and then we can get the others. If they remade the others ( besides MGS1) it might have missed the mark in sells and we would have got nothing after that.

Metal gear 1 and 2 do deserve remakes but I've always thought that the bigger big brained play for Konami would be to remake Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel and expand on that games alternate timeline. That would give them an excuse to make brand new Metal Gear solid games without conflicting with Kojima's continuity. Just call it thr Metal Gear Ghost series

In MGS2 when Raiden discovers Snakes identity; Snake tells Raiden that the legends of him don’t live up to the reality. This could be a cool moment if these games were remade to show that Snake had more help than the stories let on, or that some more dark decisions were made that contradict his legend status later on. Just my two cents! Awsome vid, subbed.

I think the easiest way to get people to play remakes of games they know little about is it market them like "Discover the origins of the legendary Solid Snake!" similar to "Discover the origins of the legendary Big Boss!" in MGS3. People are already curious about what happened between MGS5 and MGS1, especially with how often the events of the MSX games are references in later games. If you put "Discover the origins of the legendary Solid Snake" on top of that, you are not only drawing in people who were already curious, you're also drawing in most people in general, because everyone loves Solid Snake and would want to know more about him as well as play as him in his prime again after 20 years of him being not playable or an old man.

Have Gray Fox be the one who brings David to BB's attention and thats howbhes selected as Foxhound's newest member. That way Intrude N313 can still be David's first solo infiltration, but we know he isnt a conplete rookie and can handle himself. Make it less obvious that its intended to be a suicide mission.

Super happy someone’s finally taking abt how these games need to be remade. Keep coming back to MG1 but it sucks. Here are some ideas I had: -Start the game as an Outer Heaven soldier. You and some other guy see movement in bushes, and you eventually get taken out by Snake; where he reveals himself dramatically and title screen rolls. It would show that even though Snake is an elite soldier, he’s still pretty green (23yo). Intro cutscenes play after. -At this point, Boss wasn’t considered a traitor, so have Snake use CQC, but since he’s so green, have him mess up, like his hand slipping when trying to grab someone’s face when performing a throw. In the Zanzibar chapter, have CQC no longer be an option besides MGS1 and 2 movesets. -I’ve only played the first 3 MGS games, but abt Venom, have Boss call Snake right before the fight with Venom. After beating Venom, he tries to search his body for the radio, finding nothing. He leaves in a hurry as bombs drop, still believing Boss betrayed him, but confused. During a cutscene at the end of the South Africa chapter, have OH soldiers come across Venom’s dead body, torn up from the bombs but still intact, save for a torn beret revealing his horn. -With the game being in two separate chapters, have it like MGS2, u can play one or the other, or both consecutively. When playing the consecutive version only, with a more natural gameplay flow, have mini games between the two chapters of Snake dissociating himself from the armed forces, and using his skills to get ahold of guns and intel for kicks, culminating in a bar fight where he’s mocked for using Boss’s CQC. Gray Fox intervenes, they talk abt life after OH, but he leaves, this portion only being available when playing the two chapters in the back-to-back option. -I’m really not very familiar with MG2, but at least for the final fight against Big Boss, make it like the final fight in MGS3, where Snake asks Boss about his motivation, similar to how Snake asked the Boss 35 years ago, and like MGS4, have the echo of lines from previous games, like “Boss, why are you doing this?”, and Big Boss almost quoting the Boss word for word (“To make the world one again”). Would add some real emotional depth, Boss being the mother to Jack, and Jack being David’s father. -My knowledge on this part is pretty sketchy, but after Zanzibar falls and the Patriots recover Boss and Fox, it would be pretty cool if they came across Schneider’s body, and said how they could use something like that. -Would ask be cool in the final cutscenes for there to be a reference to Liquid rising to the position of FOXHOUND’s commander. -When you finish the whole game, three mini games could be unlocked (Or I guess if it requires a name you could put in the Konami code like how you unlock all the VR missions early in MGS2), Fox’s infiltration, Boss leaving the United States for Zanzibar after OH falls, and maybe a final mini game as Gray Fox, where you have to come to terms with the fact that you are no longer Frank Jaeger (Which I guess isn’t even his real name in the first place), or Gray Fox, but Cyborg Ninja, an agent and servant of the Patriots. -All throughout, particularly in MG2, if there were references to Snake being a puppet of the Patriots taking out their biggest foe, that would help it fit into the whole Boss’s will narrative the series is based on. Those were my thoughts, so say what you want, whether you want to see more, and hoping that Konami realizes how much money they could make if they properly market Delta and Vol 2 to grow the fanbase even more before releasing a banger.
@linusenglishtips7523
@linusenglishtips7523 Месяц назад
Side note, the CQC controls from OH chapter could be brought back solely for the fight against Big Boss as the only way to beat him, but the player would have to find that out themselves and no one else would tell them the CQC controls work.

Its funny i was going to mention the loresmith videos. Not only did you reference them but you said most of the features id like. Something I would love and actually thought was a missed opportunity in mgs5 was greater dialogue/character opportunities. Snake could be portrayed as a idealistic patriotic type, a taciturn professional, barely repressed bloodthirsty type depending on choices gameplay and dialogue options. His relationships with the boss and gray fox could be paternal/big brotherly, purely professional admiration or insubordinate/jealous/rivalry or a combination of all of any above. I actually assumed they started with 3 because it’s the easiest to adopt to modern standards by virtue of mostly aligning with modern standards; once they’ve got their team up and running, and with sales numbers backing them up, I assumed only then they’ll attempt tackling the more archaic titles as these require a far more comprehensive approach. You yourself pointed out MGS3 is basically carbon copying that which is already there, MGS1 & 2 whilst still relatively complete do require a thoughtful and nuanced approach given the camera, MG1 & 2 basically require building a game from scratch. Credit where credit is due, if they’re actually hoping to get back into this having a new team build a game from scratch under the Metal Gear banner is a receipt for disaster.

Just an idea, but it'd be surreal to make Venom Snake to tell the story of The Boss betrayal, but somehow twisted(?) to resemble how Big Boss betrayed Venom Snake. *** "Why did you do it?", Solid Snake asked. "I had a mentor too, once. Just like you and I. A mentor I was loyal to, and would give my life for. Until that day America used my mentor for their agenda. 1964." "Operation Snake Eater?" "Yes. It was the Cold War, and the world was rather simpler. Red or Blue, black or white. The Boss detected to the Soviets, but it was all a ruse. Some bastard screwed everything, and the Americans need a scapegoat. They needed someone to put on a performance and do no one in their right mind would." "The Boss betrayed America for her selfish gain, for the lack of appreciation, for revenge. Sounds like a mean ex girlfriend ." "Oh no, far from it. She was loyal to her country. She was willing to become the demon she is known for, and do what they want. She had no say in it, but she did it anyway. All because she loved her homeland and what it stood for. And I hate them for it. That's why I do what I do, and that's why I created Outer Heaven. The world must become whole again. The world needs a Boss, the soldiers a place to always exist. For us, Snake, so that we are not played around with and thrown away after they're bored with us. You of all people should understand, really." "Hating on the world is one thing, Boss. But to burn it, keep the flames of war, is another. I've met wonderful people along this journey. Fox, Schneider, Jennifer, all of them deserve to live in a world where wars can end. I won't allow you and your twisted desire to take over the world." "Is that so.. Then let us make the next five minutes the best time of our lives. Show me the soul of a warrior, Snake!"

Nice to see someone who agrees. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 should be done together in one game, and if that was konami's first choice, it would have been a proper relaunch point to inform how they approach the future games going forward. (more room to experiment, but also more room for error without screwing up a more beloved pre-established game). I just see more freedom there; It's the stuff they can play around with most, and the stuff that can see the greatest improvements being updated the most, which excites me a little more than simply the same exact game with prettier fidelity. It's the same reason I prefer Resident Evil 2 Remake over RE4. Or Final Fantasy Rebirth in general. In any case, MGS 3 is still probably the second-best decision since it's where the mythology starts. And it's interesting that all your suggestions for how to handle it are based on character and story, where all my ideas for a potential MG+MG2 remake would be on the developer side, like the levels, tools and mechanics, and how to do the boss fights. It's going to be a challenge to make Jungle Evil feel different from The Fear, or Fire Trooper feel different from The Fury. And that's not including the attack choppers and the Metal Gear itself. This franchise had 4 different sniper battles across the Solid series, but they all had their own style thanks to Kojima's knack for game design.

to add to mgsv's motherbase infiltrations. Considering the msx games are all indoors (near enough) of the base, why not add a doom/halo-like map editor of some form where you can string different types of rooms together where you can code/premade block-code to make little custom community levels or as a way to continue innovating the MB infil feature anyway with letting us actually hand place elements of the bases (obv this would be for replayability and the online factor konami seems to want to push everywhere, nothing to do with the story or lore, just a fun extra mode to add more gameplay

Ironically, MG1 and MG2 are the most remade games in the series. MGS is actually a remake of them, and itself was remastered as Twin Snakes. Regarding the card keys: it is no design flaw. Kojima was inspired by a zombie movie, Dawn of the Dead, in which the characters at one point are running from zombies and need to get the correct key to open a door and escape. He wanted to create that feeling in the players when they are being chased. I played it for the first time knowing this and enjoyed it, but it really is cumbersome when you are not being chased, as you said.
