With metal horrors I find it best to never have a doctor check another doctor, since if the first one is infected that can infect the other (who would then lie and say the first is clear on their turn) Instead have both/all doctors check the same colonist/prisoner to confirm that all doctors are clear. Alternatively, if you're lacking in doctors, have every colonist feed a meal to a prisoner (which would guarantee they're infected if any colonist that can warden is infected) then release the prisoner. When they try to leave the map all metal horrors will emerge.
That testing for the metalhorror reminds me of horror movies like The Thing .. where the colony nervously awaits the outcome of each test .. only then for one of them to turn ... RAWR. Loved the episode, thanks Pete.
11:33 Jay standing over Midnight with a blank stare. One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that emotionless face. What dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty? (Do You Believe In Magic starts playing in the distance)
I've been waiting for our very John Carpenter's "The Thing"-esque event to kick off, and was not disappointed. You can almost imagine this being filmed and shot so well, with that sudden "THE GHOULS!" moment of terrified realization after Ellie and Vul having so much mutual distrust. That slow, slow walk to the last suspect you didn't even think of. Even the quarantine moment felt on brand.
Man, Anomaly is really good at taking horror movie tropes and putting a new terrifying coat of paint on them. This stuff is like Dead Space meets The Thing, I love it
For anyone concerned about Metal Horrors themselves, pre-infected pawns may arrive as guests or raiders. a Metalhorror has a small chance to be implanted into a pawn by any other anomaly through attacking. Your starting pawns cannot be generated with an infection.
I know I'm very late to the party, but I'm highly confident the Metalhorror tripped from the Void Provocation ritual Pete did 2-3 episodes ago that seemingly didn't do anything. The corresponding Metalhorror event will look for a qualifying pawn to infect. Guests, raiders, and recruited pawns always qualify ("Implanted before joining..."), while starting colonists can qualify if they are attacked by some entities (Fleshbeasts, Noctols, and Shamblers IIRC).
10:44 that moment when you had Elpis pass by the metalhorror before the ghoul properly engaged gave me a fright. Had the metalhorror attacked he could have potentially killed a child in one attack.
Well done with the Metalhorror. If I may offer a suggestion, the Dark Study Flares will let you stun many of the Anomaly enemies and will reveal sightstealers and Revenants early.
@@PeteComplete Also there is one Anomaly I don't think you're going to get on the Sea Ice. It's called the Harbringer Tree. It's harmless though. It's a fleshy tree that if you have a corpse near it will EAT the corpse. But it can't harm anything. It can be cut down for twisted meat and some bioferrite and is content to just be a tree and corpse disposal. Think of it like a Tribal Solution to too many corpses. It's certainly faster than letting things rot at any rate and it eats ALL corpses including desiccated and rotted ones.
You made the right call giving the neuroformer to Ellie. But I just realized that the sun lamp right above the jade pillar looks like a street light you'd see on Sesame Street.
Your Rimworld series are one of VERY few things on YT I watch as soon as possible after I see an upload appear. Always excellent. I actually suspected one of the ghouls might be the body snatcher host from the start, especially since they're the easiest to check due to health not being an issue. But all's well that blenders well. And it did lead to another excellent combat sequence between the epic sneaky boi assault and the horror takedown. Regardless, really cool that Ellie got a Stun cast, taking directly after the best fighters of Jingz and Boyo and her unofficial grandpa Maniac. Girl's growing up and needs protagonist powers. (Kinda hope Elpis might get some too later, fitting for his role.)
18:02 When saying "We'll have to see who to give this to." while talking about the neuroformer, there is a audible... thing. I can't help but imagine that might sound like you're hosting a metal horror yourself. :) I enjoy the videos, keep it up.
Chunk Skip is NOT useless on the sea ice. It will attract any chunk or metal scrap from the whole map, allowing you to get chunks quickly and easily with no hauling needed. This is especially helpful if it's too cold to stay outside for very long and you need materials.
rather than storing the wastepacks, unless there is some way of using them just fill the outgoing raid with any spare weight and leave them at the raid point, hey preso clean base
In my colony, there's also a void monolith but I just leave it be, keep on building my community and now I have 17 colonists dwelling a sizable base... If Pete gets THIS many sightstealers with only 6 colonists (counting the ghouls,) I wonder how much of a pain it will be if I were to provoke the void now... 💀
12:12 You'll want to speedrun progressing towards mind-numb serum once you start advanced rituals. Not only does it make Alpha-psycasters immune to psychic drones (instead of suffering an OVER 60 mood penalty on a high psychic drone) some of the later void weather events impact psychic pawns far more severely.
You should check out Octopath Traveler 2, it’s an rpg game that doesn’t have very many walkthroughs and I think it would fit right in with the other games that you have played
I think metal horrors drop gray flesh where they currently are, so your prisoner couldn't have been the one to drop it, and while she might be infected hers would have a different biosignature, so surgical inspection wouldn't have revealed anything. So sadly you wasted two medicine
When doing drop-pod raids like this, is it possible to butcher some of the pirates and have the ghoul make their way back with just the meat? Might free up some space for lucre if so...
Haven't finished watching the episode yet. Out of curiosity: would it be possible that the gray flesh spawned if Nazeem were the imposter and while away on the empire quest?
