Industrial Light and Magic worked on the visual effects of Meteor Man!? Wow, that's the company who did the amazing effects for Jurassic Park, Death Becomes Her, The Mask and many many more!

Fun Fact: The Meteor Man was originally rated PG-13 for the violence and subject matter. But, MGM had the MPAA appeal the rating to a PG.

weirdly enough, i remember liking this movie when i was younger. i don't remember how old i was, but i remember at least vaguely enjoying it. after watching this, i can see why it was rated so poorly, but the concept was still interesting, i think a remake might be a good idea

@@FluffyBunniesOnFire Each to his or her own opinion. Especially when a good writer and director can take the character (or the idea of Meteor Man) in a different direction (e.g. darker, social commentary on a wider scale).

I watch the meteor man movie back in the day; I really loved that Superhero flick and Bill Cosby and his role in it- Bill in a lot of ways made the movie for me. Big fan, big BIG fan of Mr Cosby (and I, for one, don’t believe of word of those allegations made against him years ago- and forced his to unfortunately do time…).

Golden Lords were straight up murderers. Trying to run people over with their car and doing drive bys. And they didn't know that Reed had powers until he survived. Low key some of the most threatening villains in any super hero movie. And this was rated PG

I don’t agree with you on the switch from serious to comedic scenes in the movie. It’s a black urban thing, one moment there’s sorrow and then the next it’s laughter.

Townsend is a fine actor but he just misses that special kind of charisma a super hero possesses.

I hate to say it, but Robert is well...bland. Never had the charisma or comedic that Eddie Murphy has. Keep in mind that he was almost an SNL cast member in 1980 until a teenager did everything he could to get on the show. That teenager was Eddie Murphy. I agree, Robert doesn’t have that special kind of charisma to be a leading actor. You can say anything you want about Eddie’s spectacular flops, and they are earned, but he does have a presence you can’t ignore. Robert tried to be a lead but never had the presence.

I have to watch this again, I was so eager to see this and when I finally did, I was not impressed...and I think HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE and THE 5 HEARTBEATS are CLASSICS, but this movie was a misstep for Townsend, he really never bounced back after this one.
