Fitted Michelin road 6’s 2000 miles ago , now my 3rd set tyres on my v4 pikes peak. First two sets were obviously the standard rosso 4’s ,I then fitted same tyres as a pair at 4k , did 3500miles on 2nd set,so tried the mich 6’s. Gotta be honest when I first rode away from having the Michelins 6’s fitted my pikes peak felt like I had off road tyres on it😳, was weird. But! After doing maybe 100 miles I kinda liked them. Did 1500 miles following week all around Scotland ,a lot in rain sometimes heavy and all the miles on twisty roads , at speed. Now I really like the Michelin road 6’s . I’m now at 2000 miles , tyres look good, I’m sure I’ll get another 2000 miles ,hopefully as I’m going to Isle of Man in august for week to watch Manx TT. 😊👍. I now really like these tyres. More than I thought I would to be honest. My v4 pikes peak is on 9000 miles now and it’s 10 months old, I’m out early morning and I consider myself a fast quick rider , those who do long rides or bigger mileages will understand when I say you get into rhythm quickly. That’s me. My only problem is I can’t stop riding my bike😂, I rode lot demos, Tuono, ktm 1290r, v4s, etc etc so happy I bought this v4. It’s effortless. Love your content Rembo. You are welcome to come stay and enjoy the twisty roads of Scotland anytime . 😊👍👍
Road 6 tires are legit. Dont get me wrong, the factory Pirelli tires were great, but they dont hold a candle to the Road 6 tires for road use in my opinion. Absolutely love them up here in Colorado. Cheers
Dude, I also noticed no cupping on my Road 6 front! All my previous bikes would get at least some cupping with the Pilot Road 4 and Road 5 fronts. It could just be that my KTM's suspension is so much better than my previous bikes.
Hey Brother! Those still look virtually new! Perfect choice for FL! Kudos for riding the snot out of the thing. The minimal chicken strips prove that you’re not adverse to throwing it on it’s side! Salute!
I have nearly 12,000 miles on a PR 4 on the rear of my Vstrom650. By far the best life I've gotten and a very confidence inspiring tire. It's worn out but not yet showing cord. I have a Road 6 waiting in the wings! At 70 y.o. I mostly ride secondary roads here in NW GA /TN/AL so it gets a good workout.
Dear friend. I just bought Michelin road 6 GT 190/55/17 for my gsxr 600cc And i noticed that road 6 gt is for heavier bikes. Is it ok if i install it on my sport 600cc bike?
I must admit I was sceptical about the road 6 when I got my new ( new 2nd hand ) bike that they would handle the power and still grip So far I am well impressed the H2 SX se runs well on them and I hope I get 4500 miles out of them I used S21's on my zx12r and loved them but only got 2500 miles out of the rear and 3500 miles out of the front.
I bought the exact same tires for my 2020 Multistrada 1260 S. I had to rplace them after 7,000 mi. they did not last any longer than the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tires. The front tire also cupped much more than the Scorpion. I don't believe they handled any better than the Pirellis and are not as good in gravel. I went back to the Scorpions for my current tires.
I’m a daily commuter averaging 50 miles round trip. I’m curious how these will hold up with more heat cycles in a given month compared to a person riding less frequently with more miles. We also have to factor in Highway miles compared to stop and go city miles. Guess we’ll see.
Hi Rembo, I have Road 6's on my V4SMS now, only 3k KMS so far but the R5's I had on my previous bike (KTM 1290 SDGT) easily lasted 15k kms (9,000 miles)with tread still above the wear markers and good grip to the end 👍 I run Michelin's around 35psi Front & 37psi Rear because they are Kevlar belt construction, not steel belt, so they last longer by running cooler than steel belted tyres. I love their profile. They feel planted and neutral yet tip in nicely in corners and their grip is phenominal, dry or wet. Truly great tyres....👍 Running high pressures does not extend tyre life or help maintain good grip. Modern tyres have high silica content and multi later compounds for more even wear. You will wear yours out faster than me so I look forward to your 9k mile assessment 👍
3500miles on my gen 3 busa tyres showing as new absolutely brilliant Michelin road 6 gt. you don’t need anything else The crap that was on their from new should never be on a bike like that they were awful.
Hello. Thanks for the video. Changed the handlind? I also ordered the Michelin Road 6 for my Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak last week. After 8300 km (5300 miles) second Pirelli Rosso 4 worn out. Mileage of 4,200 km (2600mil) is very low, this is the reason why I chose Michelin.
On my KTM SA S 2,9 bar on the rear and 2,5 bar on the front as recommended. When its dry with normal temps a bit less is no problem but in rain? For sure the recommended settings so the water can dissipate as promised by Michelin 😁
Morning, I use the Michelin roads already from number three to the 6 that I have now installed on my KTM SA S and the 5 on my Kawasaki Z900 rs and very very happy with them
They look good, but why do Michelin tyres have that line appear in the middle of the tyre after a few miles? I’ve noticed it on several bikes I’ve had, but only with Michelin tyres. It’s not an issue, but just a bit strange, as no other tyre brands have that.
Hey bro! Great video and very timely for me. I’m in the market and I’ve been leaning towards the Road 6’s. I have a 2K mile ride coming up in September and I really think the Road 6’s will work well. Anyway, thanks for the update and keep the videos coming. 🇮🇹🏁
Thank you, for this timely review. I guess the algorithms detected and reported my search for the Michelin Road 6 motorcycle tires and led me to you. I'm very happy with your results; as I have yet to receive and mount my new tires. I greatly appreciate the fact that you are an honorable and principled man. Stay safe.
After 4500 miles on my BMWR1250GS I ditched mine and have switched over to the Metzeler Tourance Next 2's. R6 was a very good tyre but it dived to the nearside when I took my hands off of the bars, both on UK roads and in France. Yes, I know leave your hands on the bars at all times ladies and gents. I think I may have had a duff set!! Enjoy the R6's.
2003 FZ1 going into the shop tomorrow AM for a few upgrades. Need new sticky/confidence-inducing tires. So, the road 6, power 6, and what else sounds great for this bike. It's the end of January 2024, cold concrete, and an old hooligan at the controls.
Interesting! My rear Road 6 has lived a similar life to yours in the ~5k miles I've put on it so far. I'm showing 4/32 in the center and 6/32 on the sides. I wonder if the larger size on the Pikes Peak leads to longer life?
Hi Rembo, Thanks for the review, I have a Multistrada also, Im interested in your feedback to the flowing questions please. 1) Is this a standard Road 6 or the GT version they recommend for heavier sports tourers like the Mulitstrada? 2) I live in a very warm part of Australia, is this tyre suited to extreme heat and monsoonal rain? Thanks
The road six is definitely one of the best rain tires out there. I believe the GT version is a heavier carcass design for something like a heavy Harley, probably something that weighs several hundred pounds more than a multi
Hey There Shipmate!!! Great job on your videos, I had to subscribe!!! I’m also here in South Florida, but when I retire, I plan on moving to the P.I. where I spent my whole active duty…. I’ve got a few bikes that need work, and tires, and stuff. What’s the name of your shop and where are you located??? Thanks!!! Fair Winds & Following Seas!!!
Hey Rembo, Another Pikes Peak owner here and the timing of this video couldnt be better!!!! I am just about to get new tires as my Rorro Corsa IV's are gone at 4200 miles. I had just about made up my mine on these Road 6 tires, but your video makes my decision easy!! I ride the Malibu Hills pretty hard every Sunday, so Ill let you know how they hold up in the canyons. I had 6000 miles on Road 5;s on my 2023 BMW R1250RT that I rode hard and they had at least 2,000 miles left when I sold it. Thanks again! Next will be the full exhaust!!
Hi Mate, from Australia 🇦🇺. Really like your channel, so keep it going man!!....lol. One question though, you said that there is plenty of tread left ( that part was obvious), but not much wear left... could you explain how you knew that with the road 6? Does it have a wear indicator to tell you when to change the tyre ?
I have mixed and matched tires such as the Michelin Road 6 on the rear with a Pirelli on the front with no problems but I prefer to change both anymore.
I just got a good 7k out of my road 5s on a 21 zx10r. switched from stock r11 to road 5 at 4500 miles now have 12200 on speedo. im running r6s on my 2007 zx10r and i have around 5k on them now and they have plenty of life left
Thinking I’ll get a set for my multi V4s when I replace the Pirelli scorpions…… and they have the added bonus that Michelin say they don’t use any animal products in the tyres, which makes me very happy. Did you have road 5’s on your V4s? Are these better?
That mileage is remarkable! I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. On my 2023 PP I’m on my 2nd Road 6 GT. My first Road 6 GT I got about 3700 miles out of it. I just replaced my 2nd Road 6 yesterday and got 4,377 miles out of it. Tire replacement is ($) killing me!
Why are your pressures so low? My 4s got a triangular shape on front, was told pressure too low at 33. Only negative of my 5s have been punctures, now noticed they are very soft in centre when at 5mm.
Not bad, but I heard Revzilla, I think, say they got 18k miles out of the rear on a 765. It's a little lighter bike, but that's a still crap ton of miles for a ST bun. I don't think your rear's gonna make it. Probably better than avg and given that all tires have gotten a healthy dose of inflation lately, it's probably still in the running for best bang for the longevity buck. I'm still not sold though. Way too much edge without rain grooves. That may fly in Miami or running down the highway, but it ain't something I'm going to put on to run thru a rainstorm on twisty mountain roads. Get it heeled over and it's essentially a slick. The 6 has improved on the 5 which was completely ridiculous, but I'm not a fan yet. On dry days I'm sure it's probably one of the stickiest ST tires, but I'm willing to trade off ultimate dry grip for grip in the inevitable summer mountain pop up storms. There's a reason racers put rain tires on when it rains. Michelin accommodates them. photo.gp/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Michelin-Brno-test-rain-rear.jpg
