I can never get over how frequently Phoebe acts like every single instance of an innocent needing to be saved or every inconvenience is getting in the way of her important work for the advice column. Phoebe's column can't be that hard to write. I think it should be flat out explicit to anyone that she's just an utterly lazy, selfish bitch who doesn't care if innocents live or die because she has to be forced to do anything selfless.

I agree...but also don't lol. Ithink this is where the seeds were planted but their respective dismissal of the innocent's problem is bcos they're both so consumed with their own personal problems which is crucial to the plot. Both Piper and Phoebe needed to be caught up in their problems so as to justify the gimmicks of the 2nd part of the episode (Piper's fearless spell or at least her motivation for it) and Phoebe's whole mermaid romp. If they weren't obsessive about their issues then it wouldn't have made sense why Piper cast the spell or why Phoebe was the one to transform. But I think this mindset of "my personal life" quickly became the norm for the sisters moving forward, even when it wasn't necessary for the plot.

They even had Jason Lewis on and while he was on did a spoof where phoebe of course was like Carrie doing voice overs one the last season

For me It’s hard watching her in the show now with everything that she’s said and happened.

That explains why she started to phone in her performance by the later seasons. She did not want to be in that show.

Even the Seer calls Phoebe out on her choice at one point. The Seer directly states Phoebe chose to be with Cole of her own will.

Phoebe made the choice to be Queen of the Underworld all by herself long before The Seer gave her the evil🍷 so to be accusing Cole for all the problems during Phoebe's shortlived reign as Queen of Evil. But the true icing that cemented the shit 🎂 was how she abandoned Cole in hell because she's lazy and whinges like a victim "Thanks Colebama"

After Allison's reviews, I watched the whole series. Phenomenally stupid. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have to admit when Charmed first aired and I watched it as a child, I was a fan of it (I didn't know any better) and my first reaction to Supernatural was "Isn't this just Charmed but depressed and with guys?"

I think this was around the post-Felicity time at The WB where they got really weird and strict about actresses changing their hair. In fact I think Rose admitted once that she did it partly to rebel against them. Charisma Carpenter mentioned it in interviews for Angel when she wanted to cut her hair around the same time... she had to like officially ask permission and stuff.

Yeah. I mean in the first half of season 4 she was getting over Prue, but afterwards yeah she was really unlikable. Piper had actual human moments in early seasons (see the ending of Astral Monkey, Dead Man Dating or grief over Prue's death in Hell Hath No fury, the last human moment the character had.)

The show was gradually improving and reached its peak at season 3, but instead of progressing from that the quality sloped hard and squandered all positive aspects it had.

Never knew Prue was one of the most likable. Always thought it was Phoebe and Piper. Always saw her as the most underrated when her character was the most complex one.

@@baddestislandgal5744 Prue is easily the best Charmed One, she largely benefits from being in the show's run back when the sisters cared about helping people. Prue was also the one most focused on their jobs, her arc in Season 3 was she was so prideful that she wanted to save any innocent she could and died trying to save one. Prue has her flaws sure, I think she's a bit harsh in the first few Season 1 episodes for instance. She also has some hypocritical moments, but not to the degree of Piper and Phoebe. Still Prue's character was the only Charmed sister who felt like a strong female character. All of her characteristics were then transferred to Paige, which is why Paige became the more tolerable sister in the second set. As Paige (like Prue) wanted to focus more on magic and helping people, which was her arc most of the time. While Piper is insufferable I still like Piper she's my favorite sister, except in Season 8 where all her negative traits are ramped up to worse degrees and she becomes more of the villain than Christy or the Triad. I really hate Season 8 Piper! Even as a Piper fan. The only sister I legit hate is Phoebe.

Gleaming Roses Prue is my favorite of the sisters with all the points you listed. Phoebe is my least favorite, she was tolerable in the first two seasons but after that it was all about her and her love life. Piper too in some season after season 3 she come across as bitchy who complains all the time but it doesn’t annoy me as much as Phoebe does. Paige I don’t know. Never care that much about her. After mid season 4 I didn’t watch the show regularly. I was on and off with the show maybe because I didn’t like the direction of the show sometimes I found it silly to watch.

@@baddestislandgal5744 Piper was actually pretty decent in Season 4, a lot of her flaws were toned down in the first half imo. It was Season 5-8 where she got worse. Aside from not believing Paige Piper didn't really annoy me. Anything wrong in Season 4 was largely attributed to Phoebe. Yeah Phoebe Is everyone's least favorite sister after season 2. In fact you'll most likely see her as Charmed fans least liked sister. Even fans who like Phoebe only consider her likable in Seasons 1 and 2, not much else afterwards.

What's funny is The Milano ship aided in saving innocents far more than Phoebe ever did in all nine seasons of Charmed.

Yeah Season 5 is considered the downfall point of the series by many people. Including Charmed fans. Most fans like to say the show truly ended after Season 4 with the headcanon of them taking the Angel of Destiny's offer. Sure Charmed's writing was never its strongsuit and it largely relied on if a person could stomach a campy, but silly show. This show isn't for people deep in serious writing, even Charmed fans know this (or should) but earlier seasons made sure to at least throw in a decent episode here and there. Also all the sisters were likable in the Prue seasons with the exception of Phoebe in Season 3. Season 1 struck the best balance with the sister's characters. It's also unfortunate because the show was improving with Season 3, yeah it still had some rough edges and behind the scenes wasn't too kind, but having more interesting story and more emphasis on potions and magic the show was showing room for improvement, even despite its silly, campy nature. The show could've improved its writing qualms had the OG creator and tonal shift never happened. The only bad thing I can say about Season 3 was that it began Phoebe's character decline into the character she is in well episodes like this and Piper's whining started to show (though it wasn't enough to completely centralize her character and still helped save innocents)

It's funny how Paige shows up and seems earnest and willing to prevent evil from hurting innocents, I mean, later on she ends up getting a bit worse but she never goes as horrible as Piper and Phoebe. Not only that, but the other 2 bitched at Paige for giving a shit. It's insane.

@@Nightman221k Very true. Even at her worst she never did as horrible as PhoeME and Whinper. Sure Paige wasn't above henious stuff, but at least she never left someone in hell or abuses her spouses. Really its when she's around Phoebe and Piper that their habits rub off at times, however when separated from them she's the most willing to be a witch. (I call them Whinper and PhoeME because they aren't the same characters they were in the Prue era. More of demons who possessed Piper and Phoebe's bodies, at least that's my headcanon) In fact every main guy Paige dates she actually treats them like normal people Richard (a clear reflection of PhoeME/Cole's storyline done right) and Henry. Even so she'd be reverted back to her goal of helping people. In fact Paige's entire role in Season 5 is basically her practicing magic and wanting to demon hunt, too bad her subplots are really the only interesting plots of an episode and they get sidelined by Whinper and the PhoeME One. The episode where she gets bitched at is called "Soul Survivor" Paige wanted to help an innocent soul move on and Piper/Phoebe treat Paige as in the wrong for it. Even Richard was more supportive in the situation. I would say Paige was the most willing to do the craft.

@@Surgemaster2012 I think something that makes her into a more compelling character is that she was dragged into their mess, with the intention of filling a void left by someone else. It wasn't her destiny to be a charmed one, but in the end she was the only one willing to help others.

@@melvv18 Paige was the most willing to help others because she's the only sister to genuninely love being a witch in the later seasons. Sure Paige does start to get a little self involved later on, but not to the same degree as Piper and Phoebe. Paige would always find some way to do witchcraft or help magical beings/innocents. In fact most of Paige's subplots are about her wanting to help people and practicing magic, she spends the entirety of season 5 with the goal of wanting to be a better witch. Paige works best in episodes where she's not paired with Piper or Phoebe because when on her own she's focused on being a witch. Yet every single time Paige does something like practice magic or help people she's consistently treated as in the wrong for doing such. The prime example being Soul Survivor, the episode wants to see Paige as wrong for wanting to help and innocent soul move on, and during the end of the episode Piper and Phoebe complain about Paige luring them into helping her save an innocent. Paige was also the only one who didn't treat any guy she dated like crap. In fact every guy she dated (one's with personality anyway) she treated them as an equal and never did the things Phoebe and Piper did to their spouses. Richard for instance was basically Paige's Cole and Paige saved him rather than kill him. Paige also ends up with Henry, someone who she also treated well. In Season 1 and 2 Phoebe was basically Paige. Hard to believe but in the first two seasons Phoebe had Paige's personality, then she completely changed the moment she got a love interest into what she is now. It also didn't help that Phoebe not only treated Cole like crap, but her own sister Prue as well. After Prue died she basically contributed to ruining Prue's funeral.

If only season 1 Phoebe got a premonition of seasons 4-8 to stop the Charmed Ones from going to the dark side.

She stated in her video of the reboot season finale that she thinks 1998 Charmed is better if you only factor in the Prue seasons. Because anything within the realm of the first three seasons are enjoyably cheesy and fun and relatively harmless. The reboot is better than the later seasons (Seasons 5-8) though.

He wanted the focus on the sisters relationships and skimpy outfits, while the original creator wanted the focus on the sisterhood and helping innocents. She even protested against the idea of Cole being a love interest because she was afraid it would ruin their characters after the Piper/Dan love triangle went badly.
