Nah, guys. Leif didn't kill any of the natives. They traded with them. Unfortunately, one of the things they supposedly traded was cheese, and the Natives were lactose intolerant. Some of them did in fact die from that, though. And so the Natives expelled the Vinland settlers for "poisoning" them.
Diseases is the real issue, back when humanity was fragmented, we did not have resistance to diseases not native to a certain region. This is why some tribes that don't interact with humanity now do so. They would get sick quite fast.
I love this show, historical anime are my top favorite genre. Here's some non-spoiler facts: yes, this anime is historically accurate but what they could only get from the actual Vinland Saga memoirs written by Leif Erikson which is actually split into two; the saga of eric the red and saga of the greenlanders, so a lot of what is in the anime is real facts. Vinland is what the vikings called Canada, more accurately newfoundland and labrador where there are still historical viking settlements, of course not in use but they're a good tourist site. They called it Vinland or Vineland or even Wineland because of the vineyards. There's a lot of cool facts about this but a lot of it can head into spoiler territory for the anime
Im actually kinda confused about the accuracies and stuff of which is real tho. From what i read thorfinn isnt actually a warrior, but instead followed eric to vinland. So by your words, does that mean its only the timeline thats accurate? Or does it include the people with their actual roles irl? Did they actually fight such people? Did those wars happen but not the same people were present?
@@blueravenstar4162 the author said it's a mix of real stuff and fiction. Sometimes the character and the life they were going through is like the one in the real world, sometimes it's just the characters which is real and their life is fictional, sometimes it's completely fictional.
@@havildar5652 woah that comment was just 5 months ago?! I thought for sure it was a year ago already. I mean, have i even read and watched enough mangas, manhwas, manhuas, anime and novels that much in such a short time? Have i become a neet? Ive read and watched countless of them already that ive started reading even fanfiction and entered the vocaloid fandom!
@@blueravenstar4162 Of course there were some creative liberties that were taken. For example, I'm 100% sure there was nobody who could slice four people and a mast in half with a single slice of his sword like Thorkell could.
@@koolaidjerk Well, consider also that the Natives themselves are a mix of Siberians and archaic humans. The eastern coast of the united states was also home to European Hunter-Gatherers thousands of years ago until they disappeared.
@@QuantumFishFTW I'm pretty sure Askeladd's story is more of a legend, but Thorkell the Tall was an actual person who like the show did switch sides although for different reasons.
@@Elis_Gallacher he's saying they should have animated berserk with this animation instead of the awful 3d, but i feel berserk is way too detail to be in an anime, sometimes some mangas just can't be in an anime but studios can make a good 2d animated berserk idk why they don't try it
Actually lief Erickson was the very first person to discover the Canada/USA, he had a good relationship with the natives, it was only till Columbus came YEARS later and took the land from the natives by force
Thors can defeat Thanos by himself Edit: It just struck me that THOR from Avengers kinda did defeat Thanos by himself... I didn't even think about that...
I know this is an old comment but Thor didn’t defeat Thanos by himself at any point in either movie? He gets his ass beat off screen once, then misses a fatal blow that resulted in the death of half of all life on the universe, then he teams up with Cap and several other heroes to fight Thanos and his forces. If anyone defeated him *single handed* (infinity gauntlet pun intended) it was Tony, who managed to engaged him twice in close quarters combat and kill him the second time.
@@nickholcomb2220 Basically everyone except you for some reason counts the “you should’ve gone for the head” moment as Thor defeating him. True he didn’t succeed, but at that time he was stronger. Thanos won by mere luck.
@@pistolpew3377 i don't know any opening without spoilers. Like the opening in fullmetal alchemist where Scar and Edward clash with deconstruction alchemy, spoiler.
You guys are gonna love this anime so much. The info in this show is historically accurate and you will love these characters with their development as well. Great reaction so far guys. 😃
Y’all not ready for the greatness of this anime.. Which is nothing compared to the manga. Such a great story. Looking forward to your reactions on this!
You have to understand that back during these times, it was normal for wealthy people to have slaves. Obviously, that doesn't justify it, but it's easy to use hindsight and the way we were brought up, and judge people from historical times when in reality, most of us would have been the same as them in their situation.
Binged this show recently with a friend so I looked to see if y’all had watched it and low and behold Lupa and I both make the same joke with the same response
The reason Thors sold so many sheep because a true warrior avoids violence at all cost but when senseless Violence is imposed on others they defend them. That’s why Thorfinn told Canute he would just run away to wherever he wasn’t at. Cause he truly doesn’t want any violence
The show is for the most part historically accurate many of the characters were real people. Like Leif Erikson who is very famous for being the first European to land in North America, what the Scandinavian people referred to as Vinland (modern day Newfoundland). Thorrfinn is also based on a real person, and I won’t spoil what happens to him irl because I’m not sure yet but it might give away what may happen to the character by the end of the series. At this time slaves were very prominent across Europe mostly in the Mediterranean and in the North Sea and the British Isles, and a lot of these slaves were provided by Scandinavians who captured them in their raids across Northern Europe and the British Isles especially in Ireland (it basically became a slaver’s playground) and sold and trafficked them across Europe.
This anime will not disappoint, I tried most of the new ones out. Kimetsu no Yaiba is still #1, this is #2, and I haven't ranked fire force because it's honestly been average to me, nothing truly exciting
Yall should watch that new Netflix anime seis manos, im only on the 4th episode and i say it could be one of the best animes ever, like talking seven deadly sins level. Yall should give it a try, u might like it.
AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH nice joke. Seis Manos looks like its a college project or something aka animation sucks, story makes no sense, characters are boring and generic. Dont compare this trash to actual Anime.
