A much needed current Review and Critique of the Glover Road HO Scale Diorama. This episode is filmed with a "gimble" crane (FeiyuTech AK2000C), coupled to a Nikon D5500 DSLR camera. New Design Concept: • The Model Railroad Maq...
I watch one or two videos of yours every few days, and I can't express how such a small space captivates my interest. So much detail, and realism. Great video, looking forward to the MP15 project completion!
Thanks for the layout tour and critique. Your track work looks very nice and you did an excellent job painting the ties. The muted paint colors on the structures captures the look of what you would see on prototype buildings. That is a great tip about not running the road parallel to the fascia. It looks like a fun layout to operate. -Tom
I appreciate your compliment. The nice thing about a small layout like this is one can approach it like a small canvas without feeling overwhelmed. It is also easier to maintain a central theme. Cheers.
The diorama looks awesome. Love the track work and all the details and weathering you put into the buildings, scenery, and rolling stock. Great video explaining what you've got so far and have planned. Stay well. -Wil 👍
I appreciate you sharing this information. I'm trying to build a Lionel set after 43 years away from the hobby. Wow have the train sets changed. Honestly thank you for the encouragement.
This is Beautiful, gives me inspiration for a new SWITCHING lay out i want to start in HO, which is also 8 feet long, but 30 inches wide.....THIS IS AMAZING! Thank you for this.
Excellent layout, I like the lines not matching the edge it adds interest. I also like finding fellow modelers the build their track work. BTW Wilmer sent me. Thanks for sharing and I will be watching for future videos.
I really enjoy your video's and adore your layout. Your track looks amazing as well, very nicely done and weathered. I agree with you on the shadowbox design, I think it makes the whole diorama stand out and pop with the lighting. I purchased some LED shop lights that have the same outer dimensions as the light you have except the LEDs are very thin and don't protrude from the light housing. I think that would be good for your diorama, plus it was only $30 from my local Home Depot. I'm actually doing a new video with the light in it soon.
Fantastic modeling! Really exceptional. I particularly like your work on the grain bins. I think you could add a curved valance above the blue building at the right end. It could be made from thin styrene in a kind of conical cove shape. The trick would be to put a 90 deg notch in the bottom of the styrene attach it flat to the walls just below the roofline of the blue building either side of where the walls join. At the top there would be the usual cove. This would result in a gradually increasing radius from the roof to the top of the backdrop. The styrene would be a slightly odd shape to fit but should be no problem to cut and bend if thin. Cheers, Coxy
Thank You for the sub and compliments. I appreciate your observation regarding the valance revision and I agree. However, I am not sure if this will be necessary "if" I transition to the new design I have planned for next year: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fMrBgbkqsD4.html I will consider it though. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Not bad now it's all good in the southisland I'm just redoing my shelf model layout again have just ordered a new train controller from a hobby shop in Christchurch its Australian made so I can run my locos that are made in Brazil frateschi make one of my locos is painted in kiwirail livery
Thank You for the sub! Much of my inspiration, early on in my youth, was inspired by the UK modeler whom I have high respect for. They understand the "diorama" concept when it comes to modelling a railroad theme. Cheers.
Great suggestion! I used to be into Proto 48 actually. The problem with Proto 87 (at my age) is the eyes unfortunately. I wear glasses for everything now. If I didn't, I would be hopeless as a modeler. I never thought it would ever happen but I think this is the dilemma of the life-long modeler (vision integrity breaks down). I would actually love to do another diorama (since this one is almost complete), in "O" Scale (1/48). However, It took awhile to collect the HO Scale stock I have now, and to change scales would be a total reset. Having said this, Proto 87 or Proto 48 is not out of the question for a smaller "vignette" diorama though . . . or even larger scale models that are railroad and logging subjects. Cheers. ~ Boomer.
It' sixteen inches by eight feet, with two feet of staging out of view. Thanks for having a look! Cheers. The new build is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tVBtTbr1mM.html Feel free to subscribe and follow along. Cheers.
Love your diorama but please stop panning the camera! Stop at each feature and let us see closely your tracks, ties, roads and crossings, grass, weathering, DETAIL. It looks super impressive but it all keeps flying by! Thanks!
