At 6:48 I made a massive mistake. The "mansion" Luigi has in Dark Moon better resembles the Rank D Mansion from the original Luigi's Mansion, not the Rank F. I don't know how I let that slide. At this rate, I'm going to have to make a compilation of my blunders in the future.

very cool video, but i think Daisy could just pick a different sucessor rather than forcing her daughter to become a princess. I can see Peach trying to at least convince a hypothetical child, but Daisy really seems less strict about it

Regarding Orbulon, he ages eighteen years between games, so he's probably not using Earth years for his measurements. After all, it seems he's still a child by his species' standards, given the size of his father and of the Voice from Above-- his home planet's years are just really fast.

I wouldn't mind Luigi and Daisy becoming a couple definitelly some day... But why it HAS to be like that for some of the fandom?? Like, they are obviously friends and like each other but they are not condemned to be like Mario and Peach. I dont see how that enrichs anything unless they suddenly came with a lil plot for it.

I've been an avid LuigixDaisy shipper since I can remember, so when Get It Together came out, I saw Mona's cutscene and immediately thought it was too good to be a coincidence. The mansion and tiki statues were, in my mind, further references to this theory. However, the idea that WarioWare took place in the future with a seemingly un-aging Wario seemed to poke critically damaging holes in the theory. I was unaware of the diary entries (and, for that matter, the entire original Made In Wario website) until this video; I suspect a lot of western fans are in the same boat. You've made a lot of good points in this video, enough to convince even my stubborn self. Still, I can't help but be a little disappointed.

Sorry for your disappointment. You'd be surprised by the amount of hidden lore in the Japanese WarioWare websites, so it's no shock that a lot of us westerners don't know about them. Even the Mario Wiki has some information that came from these websites incorrect. I'm working on translating them and making videos on them in the future if you'd be interested.

@@lonedivider Thanks for the reply. Maybe "disappointed" is the wrong word. I get that Nintendo wouldn't prioritize relationships between their characters (unless you're in a Zelda game, of course), but I, and many other fans, would take what we can get. The Mario series is enough of a chronological nightmare without even considering future timelines. I appreciate your dedication to unraveling it all.

One thing I just noticed is that WarioWare is canon to the mainline Mario games, Cractus, a boss from Wario Land 4 appeared in Move It, and since Mario himself appeared in the first Wario Land game, it truly connects them all together. The Nintendo microgames are simply a meta joke that has nothing to do with the Mario series canon.

True, but meta stuff that occurs does have an effect on the world itself. Like when it gives some world building when referencing past events but using the names of games to refer to them. Or possibly when it comes to those characters in PM64 and TTYD saying they are going to write a book about Mario. Some outfits but especially the bizarreness that is Pixel Mario.

The Nintendo Microgames exist in-universe, just as Nintendo as a company does. It’s mentioned in several Mario games. WarioWare has always been connected to other Mario games. Some examples: - Dr. Crygor made the Wario Car from Wario Land 4 and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - There’s the Diamond City track in Mario Kart Arcade GP but also the Wario Bike appears in Mario Kart Wii. - A picture of the Golden Pyramid from Wario Land 4 and the Music Box world from Wario Land 3 both appear in Wario’s house WarioWare: Twisted! - Wario’s treasure-hunting adventures are mentioned by Mona. - The WarioWare logo and Wario’s Biker outfit appear in various Mario games. - Wario World is stated to be a direct sequel to WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, where Wario built the castle using his funds from the game sales. Some Microgames are also unlockables in Wario World as a result. It’s really cool how it all connects!

Indeed Geno is not connected to Rosalina, he's connected to the Star Spirits. I do think the heights are consistent throughout games. I believe in the 3D games characters like Peach and Mario are in their small forms since neither have eaten a Super Mushroom. This is why Bowser Junior is so much bigger than Peach in Galaxy, that's small Peach. If you compare Super Mario to a Goomba he's bigger than them, but if you compare Small Mario to the Goomba's he's relatively around the same height. Now if you take then into account and look at Mario in the 3D games Mario is roughly around the size of Goombas. I actually made my own height chart of this for various Mario characters using Goombas and Mario as the basis, and side by side comparisons of characters from throughout various games to see if it matched up, and it does. Also, the Mario + Rabbids games are not canon to the games and we know Bowser can often change his size probably using magic to do it, but he does have a default size. The mustache is also brown instead of black. Doesn't the WarioWare series take place outside of the Mushroom Kingdom while Luigi's Mansion takes place inside the Mushroom Kingdom. While we know Mario and Luigi have had several jobs over the years, their main and continued profession has always been plumbing. I wouldn't take everything Miyamoto says as useful for lore. I think it would be better to use the Dr. Mario manual for that. Wario and Mario wouldn't be enemies at this time but rivals, but overall are on good terms for the most part. E Gadd does play a part in said Mario Kart game, and we know the various Mario Kart races are events various places take part in. I can confirm the diary entries are indeed canon. All those remarks aside, good video.

The Luigis Mansion series doesn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom, well I know Evershade Valley and The Last Resort doesn't. They are very far away from the Mushroom Kingdom.

@@ivanzoneBR24 I did just say Luigi's Mansion might as speak on this now bleh. Also I should have been more specific, my question was isn't Diamond City outside of the Mushroom Kingdom. But I was actually asking if it took place on the Mushroom Continent. While there is the Mushroom Kingdom and areas under it, there are other locations on this continent not under Peach's control. As for what you were saying aside from referring to the first game, I was specifically referring to Luigi's New Mansion the location from the first game. The first game takes place in Boo Woods which is within walking distance of the Mushroom Kingdom as we see Luigi walking there with a map. As for the Last Resort while we don't know the distance we know E. Gadd and Luigi and Co. were all able to get there by driving. This would mean it's on the same Continent, otherwise they would have used a boat or plane. As for Evershade Valley well have a few reason why I think this would also be on the same continent. First off is E. Gadd, we never really see him outside of the Mushroom Continent. We've only ever seen in him places like the Bean Bean Kingdom, Thwomp Volcano, the Koopa Kingdom, and Boo Woods. All place on this one continent. The only time he might venture out of it is to aid in karting events. As for King Boo, we've only ever seen him operate inside the Mushroom continent and specifically in areas that Bowser and Peach have control over, with places like Boo Woods being debatable if anyone controls that. The only time King Boo has ventured outside of the Mushroom Continent or the general areas was when Bowser had scheme like in Super Mario Wonder and Super Princess Peach. Or when there has been karting events, outside of that he seems to stay in the general area.

You're right that Mario in the 3D Mario games is actually in the same form as "Small Mario" in the 2D games. Mario 64 DS is an example proving this, for instance, as 64 DS DOES have a Super Mushroom in it. Collecting it makes Mario bigger and stronger for a bit and it's specifically shown and said to be a Super Mushroom. People sometimes mistakenly call it the Mega Mushroom but that's incorrect not just because of its appearance (and how it doesn't make Mario THAT big) and name but because the Mega Mushroom didn't exist yet as NSMB wouldn't be made until after 64 DS. The Super Mushroom's implementation in 64 DS definitely inspired the Mega Mushroom, but it's still supposed to be the Super Mushroom. The reason it functions differently from the 2D games with it being on a timer and not making Mario exactly double in size is just because of how vastly differently Mario 64 (and similar 3D Marios like Sunshine, Galaxy, or Odyssey) works from 2D Mario mechanically, including with power-ups, where power-ups are all short timed things unlike in the 2D games (this is the exact same reason why the Fire Flower is timed in Galaxy and also isn't like its 2D counterpart, it's still following the Mario 64 design of things). So just like Galaxy's Fire Flower implementation, the Super Mushroom in 64 DS is a Mario 64-style implementation of the power-up, taking the general concept of "Mario gets bigger and can break stuff like bricks" that it has in 2D Mario but implementing it in a very different way that matches Mario 64's design more. It just gets confusing because, I guess for branding reasons, Nintendo uses the same character design for both Normal Mario in the 3D games and Super Mario in the 2D games, making Super Mario look normal while Small Mario looks different.

@@legoboy7107I actually have a hypothesis there are different species of Mushrooms or at least subspecies. For example I think Super Mushroom have several species that look similar but have different effects. One makes you big until you get hit, one heals you, and one makes you a bit bigger than normal and acts like a Mega Mushroom. Also, Mega and Mini Mushrooms were introduced in Mario Party and had a different design. Another example is the Fire Flower in one game that changes one's outfit and makes their clothing color change and lasts until they get hit, another lasts for a certain amount of time changes outfit color, another doesn't change outfit color and lasts for a certain amount of time, and another changes outfit color and lasts for a certain amount of time.

@@lonedivider I don't know, from what I remember the evidence is just "Rosalina is tall and Luigi is tall, Rosalina looks like Peach and was initially planned to be related [even though the devs explicitly scrapped that idea], Rosalina is shown to come from a planet with a castle that looks kinda like Peach's castle [I guess], and beating the game as Luigi gives you a Wii Message Board photo showing Luigi and Rosalina near Peach's castle with the Toad Brigade," that's...kinda it I think. No, no I wouldn't call you crazy. I would call you a fan. Nintendo has a LOT of posers and tourist. This is dangerous because, as seen with early SEGA with Sonic, movies and most recently video games and the comic industry, posers snake in with the tourist and make demands. They trick the tourist into believing their lies to change things to what they want and then, like locus, they leave. This is absolutely needed by the fandom to keep it innocent. The theory sounds like it came from Reddit. This is my first time hearing it because I don't really play the Wario Ware series, but I am aware of how stupid Reddit usually is most of the time. Defending against the theory makes it seems as tho' the theorist didn't play any of the games, but saw a screen shot and fished for "credit points". Looking forward to your cover on Wario Ware. Good job.

Great video! This theory has been incredibly annoying for the last few years but you’ve done an excellent job debunking it here. Do you speak Japanese? I’ve seen translations of some of the blogs but some still haven’t been translated and it’s a bit difficult to navigate them when the translations are all on obscure tumblr pages. Looking forward to seeing you cover more of them, because there’s some excellent lore in there - some of which the new WarioWare site brings back. I do have a couple of small corrections or thoughts. On Luigi’s NEW Mansion, it’s actually Rank D Mansion that Luigi has in Luigi’s Mansion 2. A model resembling the Rank A mansion also appears on Luigi Circuit in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! though it isn’t an exact match and is probably just a prop rather than Luigi’s actual home. I personally don’t think Wario hates Mario, hence them hanging out all the time, but he does find Mario’s attitude annoying and complains about him to his friends given they are rivals. I’d suggest his opinion on Mario swings depending on the scenario. Wario is actually shown in his overalls at the beginning of WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! when he’s relaxing at home. He only puts on his biker outfit when he actually goes for a ride. The Geno doll in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is just a doll, not the Star, which is being puppeteered by the Star ‘Stache Smash arcade machine (you can see the stick it’s attached to). The Blocks in Woohoo Hooniversity are actually blocks being researched by the Beanish, which they are likely trying to replicate the technology of. They’re stated to be prototypes. I wouldn’t say the mentions of game titles are in-universe, instead being mini fourth wall breaks for the sake of the player, though if they were in-universe this is explainable by Nintendo making popular games based on those events. In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door a Toad kid in Petalburg literally mentions bearing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door before the player does, so how that works I have no idea. “Mario Sunshine” is also mentioned on FLUDD’s scan at the beginning of Super Mario Sunshine, as the latest game in a timeline of other game titles. It’s also probably less of a floating timeline and more that Nintendo just pumps out games and consoles super quickly in this universe. Minor point but Bowser Jr. hasn’t developed any technology, he just pilots it. The technology is likely produced in Bowser’s factories or random other factions depending on the instance. Of course, this technology still exists and Fawful and E. Gadd do have their inventions, thus your point still holds true. I also don’t really see the issue with Professor E. Gadd in Diamond City. He’s just got a single shop there and Crygor lives out on his island, it would be hard for a course in the city to show it. Most of the course has you driving through the WarioWare, Inc. building and there’s also Diamond Taxi and the Gelateria. In fact, if you look at it from above you can see that it lines up almost exactly with Diamond City from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! What’s more is that it just has fun implications. Are E. Gadd and Crygor old buddies? Bitter rivals? How does Dr. Crygor feel about the Professor opening an Item Shop on his turf? Maybe E. Gadd grew up in Diamond City given he’s human. It also just makes WarioWare feel a bit more connected to the greater Mario World. We also see a shop called Monte Mart (Monte being the Japanese name for Pianta) with Palm Trees on the roof. It’s neat to imagine some Piantas live in Diamond City too, just off-screen. Anyway, that’s all I have to say - once again well done! Very good argument and very well researched!

We do know buildings and other places can often undergo restructuring for various events, or have to be rebuilt. Events can be for karting events and sports events, and being rebuilt is because well you know the whole battles with a giant turtle. It is possible Luigi had upgraded it overtime, we don't know exactly when Double Dash takes place relative to Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. In addition the Mansion could be a separate one built for the event. We do see the original Boo created Mansion in Mario Kart as well. As for multiple timelines, unlikely there is just one Mario and most games are connected. In addition there aren't timeline splits given the whole timeline changes when you alter the past established in Partners in Time.

@nicholassims9837 From what I could find, it's complete nonsense. The main source used is an old statement in a Nintendo Power Magazine, but consistently, they're stated to be childhood friends turned rivals. Though the rivalry is likely only on Wario's end.

@nicholassims9837 I don't think the are. A majority of sources on there relationship state they aren't related. Though what is up for question is whether or not they're friends. It's a mix between them being two bad guys that happened to find each other and them being pals. And for clarification, do you mean character vs as in a vs battle or a character comparison? Either way, I'd do both.

Common such as starting out as a rival to Mario before getting there own game series Donkey Kong Country and Mario vs Donkey Kong for DK and Wario Land and Wario Ware for Wario and tv tropes gave them a few of the same tropes DKThe Big Guy: Shares this role with Wario whenever DK is in Mario's friend group, but not so much in the Kong family where that role belongs to Chunky. WarioThe Big Guy: When allied with Mario, he typically takes this role, sometimes sharing it with Donkey Kong DKA Hero To His Home Town: Since Donkey Kong Country, DK has been established as the guardian and hero of his Jungle Home, to the point where the Island he lives on is apparently named after him and even shaped like his head in the Rare-developed games. He's rarely seen without his supportive family members who look to him as their leader and has more than a few animal friends of varying species ready to help him on his adventures. In games set in the Mushroom Kingdom, however, he's usually treated neutrally or with outright fear going by the Toads' reaction to him in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, due to his mischief and rivalry with the heroic Mario. @@Skypatroller_BenCDoh Double Dash. So there's a few ways I can see this being interpreted. One is Double Dash takes places after Dark Moon and Luigi decided to upgrade his mansion. But another way to see it is the one from Luigi's Circuit was built as a prop for the Circuit for the Mario Kart event.

@Eris1987 I wouldn't make sense to place Mario Kart 4 after Luigi's Mansion 2 especially that Mario games doesn't have timeline shenanigans like this so for a Mario timeline it makes more sense to place the games in their release date

@@Skypatroller_BenCD while they don't have an official timeline, one can be figured out by references to past events, but also who shows up when and other details. I wouldn't necessarily rely on release dates, especially when some games could take place before others even if they were released after the fact. For example Bowser's Inside Story was released before Super Mario 3D Land. Super Mario 3D Land was released in 2011 and was the first time Bowser gave Goombas Super Leaves to fight Mario. Bowser Jr's Journey takes place during the events of Bowser's Inside Story, and was released in 2018. Bowser Jr's Journey has Big Tail Goombas aka Goombas powered up by the Super Leaf. This would place the events of Bowser's Inside Story after Super Mario 3D Land. Another example, the Mario Game N Watch games. Most of these game were released after Donkey Kong which was released in 1981. Wrecking Crew 1985 Donkey Kong Hockey 1984 Mario's Cement Factory 1983 Game n Watch Mario Bros 1983 Donkey Kong Circus 1984 These games while released after Donkey Kong probably took place before Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong Circus is obvious but what about the other games? Well the other games seem to not have taken place before the events of Donkey Kong but while Mario is still in Big Ape City obviously. But it seems there may have been a retcon on Mario being a Carpenter during Donkey Kong. There is implication of Miyamoto's part that Mario was already a plumber during the events of Donkey Kong. This does work since Mario and Luigi in the games have always been depicted as Construction Plumbers. So yeah I don't think using release dates is the best way to find out when certain games take place.

What's ironic about that is the early concept of Mario galaxy included Luigi and peach as rosalina's parents. Of course Miyamoto shot that idea down. Koizumi still included the secret rosalina book at least.
