Is this a Catholic saint or a Russian Orthodoxy saint? I know in Catholicism you have to have 2 miracles attributed to you. Or if you are a martyr for Christ, as he could be considered, do you surpass this requirement? I did not think protestants believed in Sainthood, and (ironically) consider it idol worship. (I remember my Lutheran grandmother yelling, "We do not pray to Saint ANYBODY under this roof!" at my aunt, after she had lost her keys and prayed to St. Anthony...)

@@Wacholderwald If I ask anyone to pray for me, they pray to God, not to some "saint". In the same verses you quoted, it plainly says "fixing our eyes on Jesus". Catholicism is apostasy because it puts man in the place of God.

Saint Gabriel is a saint of the Orthodox Church, he is not Roman Catholic. The term "Orthodox" means "right worship". The term "catholic" only means the "universal" church. These men and women who are honored as saints were the greatest examples of faith and humility, who put Christ first in their lives, to the point of suffering persecution, torture, and death. They truly exemplified Saint Paul's words in Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." They are role models, as are the Apostles who wrote the Gospels and Epistles, who are the first Saints in the Church founded by Jesus Christ.

No no no guys this is just tiny portion of his life! Read his life, his prophecies! He was born in Georgia country that suffered for Christ for all its existence, thousands of Georgian martyrs. During his life all the churches were closed and clergy on its minimum or at least 90% were closed. One day he passed by church and saw man on cross, he didn’t know what or who it was, he saw older mans and ask who this person was on this cross, older man fearing about prosecution, told him that the best way to know who that person was, is to find Bible. Finding bible in that time was like finding Tiger in Tbilisi. Some people speculate that the person who gave(/sold) him bible with dirty robes which looked like bagger was some kind of saint. Later when in that days he started to diligently educate himself studying bible, he was 14-16 back then, then he ran from house because his mother was too consersed about her child, and demanded from himself to stop his bible teachings, he ran from house and he was going from one monastery to another, unfortunately, monasteries could keep him because of his age, then in couple month mother found him begging to come back home and she would never ask for such a thing, his life was going harsh, he was roaming from one garbage places to another, finding there thousands of orthodox icons. He was picking them up and taking them to his home. This is just 2-4 years of his life…
