Today, February 29, 2024 is "Davy's Day" at our house. It's also the 12 year memorial of Davy's passing. Davy and I go back to the late 70s and early 80s in SoFla, when my brother and I owned a hotel, night club and tennis resort on Lauderdale Beach. Davy and l played tennis there together, making a very competitive men's doubles team. I remember and loved his easy going humor. I respected how generous he was with old fans who recognized him. And he was a big hit with my night club and hotel staff... always kind, always gracious. Unknowingly, millions of Daydream Believers around the World will be paying tribute to Davy today when they hear his marquis song, "Daydream Believer" as their minds drift back to the days of his Monkees' antics. Rest quietly my friend. As my years roll by quickly, l'm looking forward to picking up those racquets and heading to courts once again with you...on the "other side". With eternal honor and respect, Don M. Co-Founder, New Wave Lounge, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. (Facebook) ❤
I was blessed to see Micky April 2023 Micky Dolenz Remembers The Monkees. It was fantastic. My best friends and I were able to song every word to every song. It was amazing!
I am nearly bloody 70, and I'm STILL in love with Davy Jones!! I tell you what though, the music is STILL bloody BRILLIANT. Can you imagine any of today's stuff STILL being bloody BRILLIANT after over 50 years! Listening to this makes me feel like a teenager!! And if anyone thinks that that's pathetic... Well they can just Fuck off!
I met The Monkees just when my father gave me a record player in 1968. Since then I bought all their records and still now, at the age of 68, I love their songs. Certainly they ware pre-fab, but they wanted to go farther, ... and made it!!! God be with David, Peter and Mike, and preserve Dolenz as far as possible with us!
My fave band in the 60s and now in 2024!!!! No other band encapsulated the 60s magic better!!!! RIP DAVY, MIKE AND PETER!!! YOU ARE GREATLY MISSED, BUT YOUR LEGENDARY MUSIC LIVES ON!!
This is bring me back to wonderful era❤️. No cell phones, pagers, internet, real conversation with friends. Surfing, riding 10 speeds, out till the street lights come on. I feel so lucky to have lived in the 60, and 70s💙❤️.
I grew up with the Monkees since I was 13 years old and when they came on TV in 1966. I fell in love with them and to this day at 70 years old I still listen to their music. They had so,so many songs it's hard to choose. God Bless Davy, Pete and Mike who are playing their butts off in Heaven. God Bless for Micky to keep the Monkees legacy going on and performing for his fellow brothers. He is such a strong man and holding up for all of us to make sure we enjoy Monkeemania. Love you Micky and keep on singing and rockin away. We all love you A fan forever from Maine and thank you for the wonderful memories going.
Now 68 and the Monkees' music easily takes me back to a great time in my life, learning to surf, becoming interested in girls, and of course watching the Monkees on TV. A different world back then. Found this on RU-vid with my wife who is thirteen years my junior and their songs bring a smile to both our faces and we immediately go into sing-along sessions. Way cool for their time. Miss those days.
Been Monkeying around for 68 years now 😂 Love their music and had all their records too. RIP Davy, Peter, Mike and God Bless Mickey!! ❤Pam from Virginia
Absolutely love "For Pete's Sake" and the lyrics; STILL relevant today, even more so....to love one another and be FREE. No more fighting...so over the global unrest and within our own country as well.
So sad that there's on one Monkee and two Beatles left. Those were such good times as a kid. I'm 67 now and really miss those days and all the great music.
The amazing thing about the monkees is that all four can sing ...it's been done before with other bands but the monkees can all sing very well !! Wich is unheard of !
Well, that WAS the only real prerequisite during the auditions for the show. The music was originally covered by the Wrecking Crew so singing ability was essential for the actors.
Listening on a pleasant Valley Sunday! Forget what national station had them when they came on 9/66 when I was 9 in 4th grade . Seen dudes going to NAM from 65-69 , and lost my uncle there mid3/68 b-4 my 11th bday.
Sometime in the morning You just may be the one Look out here comes tomorrow I'm not your stepping stone Vallerie Last train to Clarksville And more Back then it was as respectable as cartoons, kid stuff. These guys were actually the first boy bands
The first record I ever bought was I'm a Believer 45 RPM. It cost me two weeks pocket money. I then got the LP The Monkees for passing my 11-plus exam. Still a fan.
I was maybe 10 or 11, and one of those false stories came out saying Mickey was killed in a car accident. I was listening to "Some Time in the Morning" when I was told that horrible rumor. I cried so hard. To this day, I feel that little sad feeling in my stomach when I hear that song. Yet, here we are... Mickey is the only one left.
Yes I was a big Monkeys fan back in the day and I had a crush on a girl at school, her name is Sandra O'Dell. So when I hear this music it reminds me of her and all my friends back then. 😁
I don’t remember a time that Monkee’s music wasn’t in my life. These were my nursery songs. My fun elementary songs and I went to see the remaining 3 in concert in the 90’s. I’m way into middle age now and still love this music.
If is wasn't for my sister giving me her two albums (Monkees and More of the Monkees) I never would have gotten hooked on their music! I'm 67 and still listen to ALL their albums to this day!
It just goes to show that anybody with absolute no talent whatsoever can make it in music. Not one dude in this band could play an instrument!! The closest was Mike Nesmith who knew a little Guitar. Amazing!!!!😢🎉😮
I watched the Monkees program back in the 80s'. I had a huge crush on Micky. It's so sad that the others are gone, but they aren't forgotten. Rest in peace to Davy, Peter and Mike. ❤❤❤
I'm 67 and I remember when they were introduced to the world . atthetime they were called the "pre-fab four" in deference to the "fab four", The Beatles. unlike The Beatles they weren't musical pioneers who broke new ground but then they never claimed they did. they just continuously released strong, solid, well-crafted, bouncy and thoroughly enjoyable songs that still sound good 6 decades after they were recorded. how much music today will be around 16 years from now? or even 6?
The Monkees are my all time very favorite band. Always was and always will be. For all the groups that keep coming into the world of performing and entertaining people, none of them, will never, ever, be better than the Monkees, or just as good. And I don't ever, want to hear any of the Monkee's songs done by any other singers. Only the Monkee's music, sung by the Monkees only. The Monkee's music, belongs only to the Monkees, where it belongs. No one else could to do justice with it. It wouldn't be the same. It would be ruined. And yes, the Monkees deserve to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. Peter is the love of my life since I was 5 yrs. old. I have it real bad for him. I love him so much I can't stand it. I miss him so much with him being gone. I constantly think of him, every...single...day. Every minute, every second of of every day, week, month and year. I love you so much Peter, darling.
I remember every show as a kid, it was so good too hear the music again. I'm mother had bought every album ,& we love listening to them, the 60's & 70's were fantastic.
To hear The Monkees as a band listen to their Headquarters and Justus studio albums their Live 1967 album and the Japan concert bootleg....they sound GOOD
Playing the masterpieces that are VALERIE and WORDS full blast while I do some house cleaning!! These songs always bring back memories of sitting with my brothers and watching the shows. My mom would blast the music when doing housecleaning or on a Saturday morning. Thank u for the upload!!! #MonkeesForever
This collection alone should be enough to get the boys inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There's enough great stuff for at least a Best Of volume 2.😘🎸
Still not ?? That's an insult, well, as long the parasites stole a lot of money over the backs of The Monkees. And even no star on the walk of Fame ?? I guess not even a star too. I'm a Dutchman and we don't get much to hear about these kind of info. They probably think that it's not important enough. What a shame, huh ?!
