I thought you also showed how to use another SAK tool than the saw ( the reamer maybe?) for use with firesteel. Maybe that was a different video or I was mistaken. Have a great day.

@@FelixImmler Felix, thanks as always for your wonderful videos! I think that discussing your "dream" SAK would make a great video. I'm imagining that you could discuss the combination of tools that you would like as well as new/custom tools that you would like to see added (i.e. spoon carving gouge). Once you have posted your video we could all put the pressure on Victorinox. I promise that I would by TWO Felix Immler Specials!

Just imagine a pocket knife that wasn't made side ways with 50 tools that you could fit in your pocket. Oh yeah! They make small ones and leave the intelligent dessigns to the americans lol Just to be clear though most multi-tools suck ass regardless of brand.

@@lowkeylowkey1000 I think Leatherman are doing a good job. A bit scattershot, but the Wave is a masterpiece.
@lowkeylowkey1000
@lowkeylowkey1000 3 года назад
@@edwardfletcher7790 I want to like the Wave. But in the end, it sucks due to the lack of a one hand plier usage and the inset tools are a b!tch to open. I've tested 6 units and it was the same across a couple years. I settled on the SideKick. Spring action pliers, no open problems even if it lost the spring function. Compact and half the price almost. Plus all the other tools were easy to open and the blades have a lock unlike Swiss small multi's. The only other leatherman I have is a Squirt 4 for ferro rods. I know....destroy it for THAT? lol But, that is really easy to pocket over a scrap that kinda jabs you or catches on a bit of fabric. Though a tiny swiss can do a scraper job fine as well so maybe I'll pick up a tiny one.

I think the thumb-on-knife technique you showed works best with harder ferro rods. Most common, cheaper rods are too soft. It’s the difference between a slow, hard-pressure, short stroke (hard rods) and a fast, light-pressure, long stroke (soft rods). I didn’t explain that well, but if you dig around Far North Bushcraft and Survival channel, Lonnie explains it.

If you use the Firefly, make sure you place your finger toward the tip as Felix said. But ALSO make sure that you are using the thin side as it is stronger in this position and less likely to break. I carry a full kit for survival on long hikes but this is a mini survival kit in your pocket. The Firefly company also make a great Fire Tender that screws into the corkscrew. The only downside is they are a bit costly. I hope this extra info. helps... The Old Marine, Semper Fi !!
