The passenger. They can sue Google because the robot made a mistake, but they probably won't get much ground in that. Trying to sue something like Google is like trying to boil water with a match, there's way too much working against you.
@noahwilliams8996
@noahwilliams8996 9 лет назад
Will Leonard Why are you assuming that it will make a mistake? Honestly with the success rate so far (100%) I'd say that we might not even need to bother giving people tickets for driving mistakes.
@Twosocks42
@Twosocks42 9 лет назад
I would think that if the cause was suspected of being technical (a glitch or the like) it would be handled in the same way that situations where you get pulled over for having a taillight out are dealt with- a verbal warning given on the understanding that you will have the issue taken care.
@brennan5331
@brennan5331 9 лет назад
Twosocks42 I think the far more interesting question is how the insurance will work out. That's the biggest reason why I personally think driverless cars aren't going to happen anytime soon, because I highly doubt google will be willing to accept the responsibility of insuring thousands of cars, and consumers will not be willing to insure a car that they have no control over.
@feelshowdy

I like to imagine a future in self-driving cars where incidents on the road are pretty much unheard of and for entertainment, we've come up with a sport where a fleet of self-driving cars are put in an arena with one car with a human driver and that car with a human driver will try to corral the self-driving ones into crashing into each other.

The future of AI is so exciting to me. To me, the future where hyperintelligent robots replace humans is nothing but a victory-these will be our children, made by us to be better-equipped, more morally stable, and better thinkers than we will ever be. I only hope they'll inherit the title of humanity without a struggle.

NO! Life is made to be hard. That's why we work together. If people are lazy and invent robots just to do our work, we will ALL be lazy and fat knowing that you'll do nothing when robots are doing everything for you.
@alisontee4609
@alisontee4609 9 лет назад
KC :D A lot of these robots supersede human ability i.e. they do things that are BEYOND our ability to do. This is not a question of laziness. Why would you spend time and effort overcoming unnecessary challenges that add no benefit to your life? Regulating mundane tasks to robots leaves us more time to pursue things we're passionate about and that are truly worth our time. Not to forget there are people with disabilities who, again, cannot do these things in the first place, and whose lives would be a whole lot easier with these inventions. The only point of concern I can see here would be robots taking over human labour in industries resulting in the worsening of unemployment issues.
@kwaece857
@kwaece857 9 лет назад
Oh, it's good for people with disabilities. I'm just worried that all the robots will take over our jobs, forcing people to quit their Job and supporting their families D:

TheKimpula Top 5 most dangerous chemicals is one of my top favorites as well. It probably has to do with how Hank Green presents it. Best I could describe why it's one of my favorites is that it's "justified hyperbole" all the way through.

Tetrachromia i wouldnt really call an AI in a video game a robot
@Darticus42
@Darticus42 9 лет назад
Zeppelans Yes, but the everyday definition is, oddly enough, more specific than that. Like he said, the modern terminology of "robot" has mechanical flexibility and artificial intelligence as its defining traits. In a way, it's like calling a square a rectangle. Yes it's correct, but it's also has more requirements that make it more than just a rectangle (equilangular, equilateral). In the same way, the examples he gave included more detailed definitions for the robots on his list. Sure they are machienes designed for a physical task, but like a square, they were considered more than just that.

L E R I U M It's likely a RU-vid technique to get more viewers, and better responses. One thing I notice about my favorite Vloggers, is that when they have someone do a guest video on their channel, it's often not as well received, because that Vlogger's style is different than the originals. But when you have a cast of hosts who generally use the same tone, and speak with the same enthusiasm, the viewership tends to go along easier.

Which poisons?
@Arkalius80
@Arkalius80 9 лет назад
Ahmed Fathalli Poison is just a general term referring to a substance that can cause severe injury or death when consumed in relatively small doses. There are many different ways for them to work, but generally they disrupt our body's homeostasis-- the status quo of complex chemistry that keeps us alive and healthy. Our bodies are pretty good at detecting and handling disruptions in homeostasis, but good poisons are able to bypass or overpower these mechanisms, or hit us in vulnerable areas where we have less-developed defense mechanisms. Since every poison works differently, it's hard to be more specific than that in explanation.

The robot swarms concepts are sweet, it reminds me of the movie big hero 6.

In my humble opinion, you're looking at the world's most advanced robot: it's you and I!

The least advanced robot was a simple animal trap. It waits for a specific stimulus from it's sensor, moves, then holds, completely autonomously.

I saw one of those Da Vinci robots. It was a science expo, about three years ago. There were three of them, one with a set of tools to the side, and a puzzle, the other two were just the consoles. You can feel the arms scrape each other, even though they are six feet away, or not even attached.

I like the idea of nanobots being used in medicine. I keep hoping that one day, nanobots will do away with the pain, anxiety, and discomfort of dentistry. Just imagine not having to keep your mouth wide open for long stretches of time to make room for fingers and all sorts of instruments, some that make you really reluctant to even open your mouth, like hooks, needles, and drills.

The Kiva robots I worked with in the Staples distribution center. They're all hooked to a network and upwards of 200 can be working at the same time. The weigh around 300 lbs with the racks on them, and they bring pods to each packing station based on coordinates the bots are given. They follow small barcodes called fiducials, and have sensors that tell them if something is blocked, in the bots way, or if a barcode cant be scanned. They course correct when able and are quite fun to watch.

They already were in the prototyping stage back then, and they basically still are. We're getting close with stuff like adaptive cruise control, park assist and the Tesla thing that lets a car stay between lines on the roads, but it'll still take a very long time till you'll commonly see fully autonomous cars on the road.

Really excited about the prospect of self driving cars being used as taxis, summon them with your smartphone, put in the location, have it charged to your card. Would be great to make taxis even cheaper, and I say that as a former taxi driver myself. It's going to be a really awkward transition but it could be an amazing development for urban transportation.

The absolutely gigantic machines used to sort and move shipping containers should definitely be mentioned. They are so huge you don't even think of them as robots, but they certainly are! As I understand, once a container is submitted to the system, it just auto-magically gets moved about the world, intellligently being put on shippig vessels until it's at its final destination. Sort of blurring the lines, but still very cool, very complex.

I love the idea of self driving cars, because they're already developed and they're extremely practical, so once they go public and are affordable, they'll probably replace the transportation industry and even most personal vehicles, because they're better than human driven vehicles in all respects.

Does anyone remember My Pal 2 from the early 90's? He was a robot toys that you were able to play games with. He was really neat, and fun to play with. I still have mine, Because of this video, I was thinking on how cool it would be if he had real A.I. and was able to think. So awesome.

That small robots that can build anything is promising. Just like what we saw in Big Hero 6, that type of robot has lots of things that can be done when humans can't.
