20-year-old Tomoru Honda is continuing to make a name for himself as one of the greatest 200m Butterfly swimmers of all time. He just destroyed the Short Course 200 Fly WORLD RECORD, lowering the mark from 1:48.24 down to a 1:46.85.
But the question is… how did he do it? All of his secrets are revealed in this video.

I think in the short course sides spend more time under water and not breathing. Therefore , would it not be more difficult and there is not time to reach a stride

No no ! It's just a 25m pool man. Most of the times he is under the water doing dolphin. 50m pool would have been a fair game.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t impressive. A short course world record is just as impressive as a long course world record. It takes a different skill set to swim 25m lengths

It’s the SHORT course. Olympics is the LONG course, which is HARDER.

nah. they're different. short course demands more of the swimmer on the walls and underwaters, so if you're weaker there then short course is harder by far. long course is more pure swimming of course, and honda won a silver medal in a long course event. so he is clearly capable on that end. short course and long course are different animals, and honda has excelled at both. don't try to minimize his achievement.

This is the greatest joke...lol. the short coarse is for kids...the kick gives them a boost. The 1.46 in long 50 m pool would be 1.55

true we should just make swimming pure. no more kid swimming... every event in a pool exactly the right distance from a start in still water.... no dive or push off.... that real swim no kid swim. no underwater kicking either that is not real swim. ..
