Red: "It never was about the money." Dutch: "MONEY! WE NEED MONEY OR WE'RE GONNA DIE! FAT STACKS OF RAILROAD BONDS! ARMY PAYROLL! CORNWALL'S MONEY! JUST A LITTLE FAITH AND WE'LL BE IN TAHITI IN NO TIME SO STOP DOUBTING ME!"
@@angelo8304 I don’t think rockstar ever stated which ending was canon, but imo High “Honor | Help John” makes the most sense. He doesn’t go back for the money but decides to help his close friend whom he considers a brother. I think that’s what bro meant by “just like Arthur.”
Red Harlow is essentially a "man with no name" homage. Right down to his outfit. Walking off into the sunset was what clint eastwoods characters did best.
He's a homage to the old west movies in general... From your parents dying, to taking down a corrupt official, losing the farm, the list goes on and no he's not uncle
if i remember correctly it was called the scorpion revolver, had the highest damage per shot and accuracy of all the sidearms. There were only 2 of these guns, his father own one which was burnt up in the beginning of the game and the governor who was his business friend had the other .
Red Harlow is the only one who doesn’t have a tragic end. Arthur and John both sacrifice themselves, and Jack ends up being the very thing everyone wanted him to avoid, wasting his life on crime. But Red Harlow? He got revenge and then just left, no consequences to be seen. Edit: Yes I know it’s implied Jack lived to become a writer, I’m talking about what happens *on screen.* The GTA thing could easily be an Easter egg and not canon to Red Dead, as another guy pointed out the states in GTA conflict with the states in Red Dead so it’s unclear how canon that is. Edit 2: “BuT sTaTeS cHaNgE oVeR Ti-“ *Alright I get it*
red harlow has a tragic beginning instead. And to be fair jack could have just become a rancher and lived a normal life after he killed ross, we don't really know
@@nxcrobutcher I mean I think they all have pretty tragic beginnings tbf, every one of them begins their adulthood by losing people to the law essentially, or growing up in crime. It’s true that Jack could’ve left the outlaw life behind but it seems very unlikely
The thing about Jack Marston is that he became an author later in life. In GTA 5 story mode, if you go into Franklin’s house in Vinewood Hills, you find a book in his library called “Red Dead” written by J. Marston. I can guarantee that John did not write that book, and Jack always talked about becoming an author in life. Seems he succeeded in that dream
The funny thing about this line is that throughout the whole story whenever he killed one of the bosses and came to collect his rewards he always said in a quite iconic tone: "I want my Money!" For me and my friends it was so iconic that we made a joke out of it so whenever someone owns the other something he would greet him with that line. Good old days.
of all the protagonist, Red Harlow has the best and happy ending and he can always have another story on the next gen consoles if only Rockstar would consider giving the fans what they want because as of today some people still think that Uncle is Red Harlow.
@@nothingforyouhere418 nah. Characters like Red don't grow old to be characters like Uncle. Besides, Red Dead Revolver is just a story in this universe. Besides, after playing Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2, do you really think characters that have a cannon for an arm, or drink green magic potions that make them disappear in a puff of smoke, or teleporting natives actually exist?
@@kingcusea true but I'm not going to trust them on either after that fiasco regardless, lol. If they do it I'll see how it is first before considering it
@@Catzillin Should of had a sequel where Red who is on the run after killing the Governor, goes to Australia which was also pretty wild wild west. Would be a cool shakeup.
Final boss of every RDR game: 1. PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES 2. A pensioner 3. A rat DLC: A PACK OF BRAINEATING UNDEAD ZOMBIES WHILE A AZTEC GODDESS GIVES YOU INSTRUCTIONS TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
I don't know why but this ending reminds me of Arthur especially when he said "it never was about the money" Because when Arthur got kidnapped by Colm he also said"it's not about the money Colm"
The simple fact that he survives a Red Dead game with but a few scars to show for it easily makes him the most powerful, uncontested badass of the entire series. I love Arthur, I love John a lot more, but Red's superiority is undeniable. And no, this titan of a man did not shrivel up into the bridge troll that is Uncle. Stop.
*1:16** - "It never was about the money."* That's why Red is the best protagonist in the franchise. He was never greedy or immature, just fair and honoring his family's memory. So he survived and likely lived a peaceful life, unlike Arthur and John.
John wasn't greedy atleast not in rdr1, he was forced to go about kill his old game members or else his family would be killed It was respectful and honourable for why John went on that large mission in rdr1, he just wanted to live a quiet life away from fighting but Ross wouldn't have it
@@jackbluehq6653 Ross was right. There is no such thing as a retired criminal as John's crimes were irreparable. What's more, his honor was subjective, he had to commit many crimes to save his family. Although that doesn't exclude John's badass personality and Ross's scoundrel. But if it were in the real world: Ross would be the hero and John the villain.
@@CaioH. every kill John ever did in rdr1 should be on Ross's hands, not John's. If John could have he wouldn't have even went to kill his old friends, that was all Ross's doing. Criminals have been known to stop and actually try and live a normal life, same as John. Ross didn't even see John as human really, just a corrupt soul who Ross used as a workhorse before quickly killing it and not even caring at all. John was an anti-hero and Ross was a villian, even if by the public standards it would be the opposite. At the end of the day, John was the real man. He faced his fate and died a man who loved his family. If it were in John's hands, he never would have gone back to fighting, it was all ross's doing.
@@jackbluehq6653 That doesn't negate the fact that John killed innocents, any more than it negates the fact that Ross was evil. Lol John can be an anti-hero or an anti-villain. It was John's fault for his past that no matter what he did: He would be haunted by his past.
@CaioH. John wasn't special at all when it came for what he did all those years ago In the gang. He killed and robbed just like anyone that was in his situation. But ofcourse at the end of the day he did what he did, to survive in a vile world. And he himself suffered for his past. But that's not my point here. What im saying is John's death was unnecessary and wasn't John's fault at all. John had already changed and became a normal citizen that did honest work and from what we know, never did any crimes through his 4 years of being a farmer. He didn't die because he couldn't let go of the past, he died because Ross wouldn't let go of the past. Some say it's John's fault that Ross found him because of going for revenge on Micha, but that isn't really the case. Ross would have found John regardless, and it made it pretty easy since his farm was right next to Blackwater. All in all, John died because he wasn't allowed redemption or forgiveness, even though he tried his best. And all the blood that was spilled during rdr1 was not John's doing at all even if he was the one pulling the trigger, it was Ross with him kidnapping his family and forcing John to go on a vigilante mission. Ross could have let John alone like he promised for him taking down the old members, but Ross was to greedy and couldn't let John live in peace. Which ironically was his own downfall as Jack came back to kill him. Its a confusing mess of morals and tried to be redeemed, and not everyone will have the same opinion on the subject. Was John the bad guy or was Ross? Sure John had killed and robbed, but he did that years ago and only did because he had no choice, it was commit crimes or die. And John showed he was more than willing to let it go and change. On the other hand Ross was a man of the law, set to make ends meet. Killing John would have been an obvious decision and not a decision that wouldn't have emotionally effected him at all because to Ross, John was a criminal. My biggest hatred to Ross is how he promised freedom and a new start to John, and to let him live his last day's happy for literally doing his own job for him. But Ross was a backstabbing liar, and just had killed John anyway. In my opinion John didn't deserve his death, he made peice with himself and his violent past and wanted to be better for him family. But that was stopped by a man higher up. I'm sorry this is so long lol
Not only is that ending incredible. Not only is the story amazing. Not only does the protagonist live on with an honourable legacy... But that damn theme tune slaps HARD. I listen to "His name was King" every time I set off on any journey in any video game, because it makes it feel much more meaningful after having played the story of Red Dead Revolver. Though it may not be my favourite game, nor is it the most influential to me... But I adore this game still, alongside MGS, and so many other great storytelling titles...
I played this game as a 11 year old I got so mad at this fight I used to pray that I would be able to beat it. This games duels were so frustrating as a kid. I could probably go back to it and it wouldnt be all that hard but still lol
It makes me sad many many people didn’t get to experience this game before the Redemption series. This game was something else.. Honestly Red Harlow has a very special place for me since he is my absolute favorite protagonist in any existing game. It’s a real shame I’ll never be seeing this beautiful man again.
I’ve played this game since I could remember dude, this game is something else I love this game. I’ve played it at least twice every year since 2009 Red is one of the greatest game protagonists to date imo.
Everytime i ride through armadillo i think of the fight with the clowns and the village by twin rocks i believe is where a fight leading up to pig josh is also a memorable place.
Ppl looked older then they actually were way back when look it up teenagers looked like they were in there mid to late 20s mainly cause. Ppl didn’t live very long until proper medical care became available look at John he died at only 39 which is consider young now a days but everybody treats him likes he’s old using terms like advanced age to describe him
I always chose the soldier dude, I think his name is BUFFALO SOLDIER!!! That he always emotes on Red dead online and also he looked cool to me so I always chose him.
Even though it was linear and level based, this is my favorite rdr game, and one of my all time favorite games all together, the soundtrack was amazing, and the characters were so interesting, or entertaining that I can still recognize almost all of them including a lot of minor characters and villains, and remember parts of their journal entries. I'm always happy to see this game mentioned in the wild
Probably wanted to leave something for his friends to remember their time with him by. They did all spend a good chunk of time together during the plot of the game. And with the army hunting down Red, he wouldn't be able to stick around.
that was a great ending, another great ending is the end of brave fencer musashi where he is walking away from the king and the king is like could he really be? and he turns around and says, im the legendary fencer musashi hows it goin old man
I’m going to put myself out there and sound ignorant… I’m so ashamed I don’t know what game this is that you’re talking about. …And I’m Japanese-American with a fascination with Miyamoto Musashi!
I can't believe people think Red Harlow devolved into the laziest deadbeat in all of rdr history. Memes aside people see it as legitimate theory... This isn't GTA... Badass characters don't just turn into pansies.
What else would he have had to do? He got bored and lazy. There was no revenge and it’s been known that revenge doesn’t feel as good as you’d think. He was probably still haunted by his demons and not to mention his parents. Survivors guilt is a thing.
@@JG09101 i think its just a random meme at this point, theres already reason on a video i watched why it cant be uncle, one of the reason i can only remember was that red dead revolver took place in the 1830s while red dead redemption 2 takes place in 1902 i think, i like online better because it takes place in 1897 and the mansion is still intact near rhodes. i like to go there because its based on a real life battlefield i visit once in a blue moon.
@@angelo83041. He doesn’t have scars. 2. They aren’t even in the same universe. 3 they wouldn’t even be the same age. 4. Completely different facial structures.
