I had six artist proofs of Earthbind until recently. I got them from a storage locker auction about 10 years ago before Hoover passed away. Four of them I returned to his family, one I kept, and one I gave away as a wedding gift to a buddy.

Yes, they have stopped releasing or reprinting "insensitive" flavor texts even. Siamese twins refers to the country that no longer exists (Siam). Basically anything that shows an identifiable group of people in a negative light are getting revised or removed. Same for the Legends in Collector Boosters and how they removed Craw Giant for it's flavor text.

Incredible that someone with Rudy's experience could look at super old cards he's seen a million times and learn something new. The difference between Jump and Flight. Just goes to show the nuance of magic in it's design, even in the old days. Love the videos man, keep it up. :)

i do love the artwork of earthbind did not play it for about 20 years,but...i still keep some old cards just because of the awsome artwork they have.pretty mind condition mine do not look like this, because we played without sleeve and all the stuff that did not exist those days.

I got an Alpha Earthbind in a box of commons/uncommons I bought on Facebook Marketplace for $30 when I was getting into magic a year ago. I was so happy to hear they weren't reprinting it because I feel it will bring more attention to it causing the price to go up.

During the high days of my LGS many many years ago so dude came into the shop and had a bunch of unlimited lands. At the time (and to this day) I hated the original tap symbol. So I ask this guy if he would trade me one for one his unlimited lands for my revised lands. He looked at me like I was crazy but agreed. Something like twenty years later I still have them.

Some consider "Siamese twins" to be offensive. Siam is an old name for Thailand. Two of the most famous Siamese twins from back in the 19th century were from Thailand - that's how the name originated. It is considered offensive because it associates a medical condition with a specific country. Mentioning schizophrenia or any mental disability negatively like that could also be deemed offensive. It's also referencing an outdated incorrect notion that schizophrenia means multiple personality disorder. Not saying I personally think any of this is that big a deal. Just explaining.

Joking aside, I think it's the schizophrenia thing since they're talking about MPD, not schizophrenia, and it proliferates a general misunderstanding of a real disorder.

When MTG was released: the artwork is offensive. Timmy's in the 2020's: the words are offensive. The pitchforkers don't realize when they want to cancel something, it does the complete opposite. People have too much time on their hands if they're that sensitive.

Well, the term Siamese Twins stuck due to two conjoined twin brothers Chang and Eng Bunker who were born in Siam, now Thailand. The phrase stuck as Siamese Twins due to the CIRCUS and was meant as a "monster" or something to be stared and shocked by. Conjoined Twins is what the proper phrase is. It would be like calling Native Americans "Indians" still today.
