When I set up my Arch partition (I have W10 right now as the only os in my 1TB ssd, so I wanted to try something new :) ) I'll definitely be checking out this rice!
But he has RU-vid on Chrome, Discord and OBS running. BTOP at 0:20 shows ~3500MB used only on Chrome and another ~2000MB for discord and OBS across all visible process. On 6900MB total, It's not that bad. I run Archlinux Hyprland on a 4GB i5 4th gen Laptop and it's smooth.
@@paultapping9510 no lmfao. RAM being used where it shouldn't or doesn't have to be used is wasted RAM. your mentality is a crutch for inefficient and poor software design.
@harisahmad7871 yeah, no. File size and memory usage have absolutely nothing to do with each other. I could code a 10kb program that eats an arbitrarily large amount of RAM.
@@humair_k6821 i don't exactly know what it's for Linux but if you need that for windows search "flow launcher". Also would recommend using "everything" (everything is just a better tool for file searching than windows default one) for searching on it :p
@@zumasa9991Linux users usually avoid vscode, mostly for it's ram usage and overloaded features, so they use an in-command-line text editor like vi, vim, neovim, nano, etc.
@@zumasa9991 Nothing is wrong with VS code. I like it for messing around in Unity on my windows os. It is a free ide by Microsoft, so running it on Linux is a little funny (Not that you can't or even shouldn't). Linux users have stereotypes, and normally like to run EVERYTHING through the terminal not an ide. Also Linux > Microsoft so that too
@@morbidsoy I know nothing about Linux want to have my Linux configured that way saw some tutorials then it looked different I don't know you could customize it.
hyperland is pretty in some ways. Chris Titus likes it too--he has a similar video. But I just can't live with a tiling WM. I wish Wayland had more floating options (yes, I know KDE Plasma works, but not with Wayfire...)
@@grain9640 Lots of people love XFCE because it's lightweight and functional. But I like a bit more eye candy and don't mind the extra cycles. If you're happy with it, though, then great.
Would definitely love to see how can a beginner install your phenomenal dotfiles. I am sure way more ppl are going to use your theme if these a video guide.🥳
I made a tutorial on how to install hyprland on endeavour (which is whats showcased in this vid) you can install the rest of the stuff by installing some programs and then copying the configs from my dotfiles repo
I beg to differ. XMonad + Picom animations allows more place for tinkering. And no, you don't need to use a fork anymore because animations + presets have already been merged into master.
Yeah. Endeavour is basically arch with an installer and pre-configured desktops that you can choose from. If you're doing something custom it won't matter much.
Don't use arch installer, you can use the install guide, you'll learn more about your system and how it operates that way. Installers and prepackaged os like endeavor or Manjaro, Garuda, etc are great, but the knowledge you get from building it yourself will help you more in the long run. (Imo)
Hey, I am new to all this and wanted to ask you two things: which keyboard launcher (1:06) do you use? And what window tiling manager am I looking at? Thank you!
As a fellow Max thats uses arch i just want to say that i aspire to have a desktop that is remotely close to how good that looks. Keep up the good work!!!
just wow, as a windows user and as someone who used Arch Linux a few days ago for the first time on Virtual Box for fun and to see how and what's the deal with linux, this is wow When I will get a new SSD, I will definitely try linux on my main PC, can't wait to learn how to do stuff like this😂 100% this shit is hard to do, especially for a noob like me Edit: any tips? before using Linux? and when I will use linux for my first time? any tips? ( btw, for my first time, I used arch linux Chromium on Virtual Box )
Could some kind-hearted soul explain to me, what's going on? What are all those actions with multiple windows appearing and merging together should demonstrate? At the beginning I thought, that the end result will be those matrix-style numbers dripping on the wallpaper. Oh, but maybe it's just the fact that you can access all things you need while your desktop is completely empty? I'm feeling kinda stupid 😅
it technically does, but you'll have to go through hoops (like compiling latest version of wlroots, etc). I understand how it feels though, being too lazy to switch distros
@@AlphaFrog1021 I don't play games too often. I tried minecraft on linux and it worked dencently except it flashed a bit. If I want to play games, I'll just use windows since I dualbooted windows and linux
@@maxhudotdevYeah, I came across this a couple of days ago, if you have nvidia minecraft normaly works on X11 only. With wayland minecraft is blinking. There is no fixes for wayland
There should be a way to share the whole iso image of this setup; it's insane that we have to config all of those ourselves - even though with all the dotfiles, it's a burden
Cute. But how do I tab windows? Where are the icons? This seems worse than KDE or windows for productivity. I rarely ever have the need to tile windows, I almost always am alt-tabbing between windows that are full screen. And when I do tile them, it’s always just two windows side by side on one monitor.
Used to use endevour OS full time, until the hardware [ hinge ] of my lenevo laptop bricked. Now have no choice but to use a Mac, I miss the good old endeavour os days
How many year did you dedicate to make it work the graphics driver? hahahahahaha Nice desktop anyway. Could be better with a space wallpaper theme, such as the earth or a galaxy.
I think Endeavour is pretty good, it's like arch installer, and it's better than manjaro. I switched to normal arch because it's more minimal since it doesn't have any of the pre-installed endeavour programs. Using Endeavour is a good introduction to arch since it prevents you from dealing with the kind of tricky stuff of arch initially like the installation process, configuring sudo, getting dual booting to work, getting sound to work, setting up xorg/wayland, wifi etc... Overall, I prefer arch but Endeavour is a good start if you want to use arch without spending a bunch time setting it up
I just LOVE hyprland. I was building my desktop the other week, sadly, had to stop and install mint, as I needed Linux for work. Maybe I should try again
Over-usasage of mono font -check Padding? what is padding? -check grAdiEnt boRdER on every boxes -check grAdiEnt dialog f0nt -check idk if the video supposed to be sarcastic, im getting old. i find xfce 64x better than this
This is hyprland it's amazing. I've spent one week to install Arch Linux fron zeo, and one week to intall hyprland fron zero. Is this right for Parrot os? Thanks
Bro it's super cool.. also love your videos ❤ is this stock distro or you modified pls tell... edit: if you modified can you pls make a guide on it, it looks super amazing.
Which terminal app is this ? edit : I've learn how to read and found out it was kitty... But kitty doesn't lokk like that, so is it because of the theme ? would really like a tutorial
For kitty, I've changed the opacity to make it slightly transparent and also Hyprland gives it blur. You can change how kitty looks by changing ~/.config/kitty/kitty.conf
I'm on Endeavor OS but I don't think my 10 years old i5 can keep up with all of that ^^' (It struggles already with RU-vid). I've got KDE Plasma with minor personalization and it's running fine for now, nothing really fancy but it's perfect for me.
