As someone who loves the Umaru-Chan series, I relate to them 100%. I hated Umaru in the first few episodes so much on how she treats her brother and spread lies to everyone about their relationship. But I kept watching just for Taihei (the brother) and I'm happy that I didn't drop it. Her character development went from "Give chips and cola so I can keep playing video games" to "I want to abandon my old life" and that sold me.

I can relate with the slamdunk thing. It's a meme in the Philippines where Koguro makes the longest 3 point shot to beat Ryonan which took like 2-3 episodes to go in. It is such a meme in the Philippines. 🤣🤣

Connor's gripes with romance anime (which, as someone who's favorite genre IS romance, I still fully get) is exactly why Kimi ni Todoke is my favorite romance anime of all time. It's probably the most realistic romance anime out there, like, in so many ways! The main couple is great together, ALL of the characters change and evolve and grow closer throughout the story, and misunderstandings are acknowledged in universe and make the characters learn how to avoid them in the future. It's still full of characters doing dumb stuff, but you can honestly tell where they're coming from whenever they do them, and as one of the supporting characters often says: while others can for sure intervene and make the main couple get together much faster than they would on their own, they have to get to a point where they see each other as equals in order for the relationship to work out, and that's something those two can only really do by themselves. A big part of that story is the characters learning how to have a healthy and honest relationship without relying other people to do all the work for them, and that's kind of why in a way, it's also one of the best coming of age stories imo.

Man i definitely relate to Connor when he shared about having that mood of wanting to cry. Like, nothing in particular is specifically making you sad that day, but you just want to let some tears out because it will make you feel "better".

One thing I'll add about Bokuben: We Never Learn is that whilst there was a definitive winner, the manga expands to show each main girl's story and if they had won (kinda like harem Visual Novels). So, in the end, no one's favourite girl lost in the manga as we got to see all romance routes. I wish more manga did this (...looking at you, Nisekoi and Quintessential Quintuplets...).

I think the appeal of the slice of lice series, at least for me, is the fact that you can learn things, especially on an emotional level. 3-Gatsu no Lion, for example, touches a wide range of topics that I related to, and learned from, from the solitude and loneliness of the character to its struggles with his family, and its appreciation towards the warmness and bonds the Kawamoto sisters provide as the series progresses. Its something that, for me, fills and warms my heart, and is something that I haven been able to get from other genres

Oh man, as soon as you guys mentioned Girls Last Tour. I personally just.. loved that show. It's so.. weird.. kind of unsettling... yet it's also oddly relaxing in a weird way too. I really enjoyed it. Just that world they are in is so fascinating to me.

as someone caught up in the manga of uzaki, I can say that as long as she doesn't bug you its a pretty fun show as she does actually help him in ways and they build to the romance (though it takes a long time) in a pretty funny way. i have probably laughed way to hard at that manga personally.

Can definitely relate to the Aki freaking out about the price of going to the hospital. I broke my collarbone a year ago and I made sure not to take an ambulance cause I found out it cost over a $1000 dollars. Got to the hospital, they only gave me an ibuprofen when I first came in, sat me in a bed after waiting over an hour in the lobby, gave me a shot for the pain, put me in a sling, and finally did an X-ray. My insurance didn’t cover anything cause I was out of state and I’m still paying off the over 3k medical bill for the hospital 🙃. Fuck America’s health care system man.

Connor, have you ever seen Prince of Tennis? Bc talk about unpredictable matches. Each match between 3 schools had 2 match ups for doubles and then 2 3 for singles. So to win, you'd need best of 5. But each match has different sets and different ones can be won/lost for a long time before you have a clear winner. It was so much fun to watch those matches. Its one of my favourites shows. Totally recommend if you haven't seen it.

I feel like, for me, Slice-of-Life anime really shine through when they are paired well with other genres. For eg, Natsume Yuujincho and Mushishi are among my most favourite anime coz they really combine the supernatural genre well with slice of life. Similarly, I really really enjoyed Daily lives of High School Boys, Hinamatsuri, Nichijou, Saiki K. and Barakamon coz they are paired well with comedy...

Garnt gets it with Misfit of Demon King, i love it for the exact same reasons that he does and i want a s2 or more manga chapters once it catches up.

when they talk about haikyuu it really made me sad. that anime really made the whole school my school, had one idea that in our sports festival. all the team like green and red and yellow. we design our jersey (like teh details of it too) to towards the haikyuu jersey like, light green for aoba josei, my brothers team being red as nekoma. the yellow is for the party team and etc. (seeing most students love volleyball rather than basketball) it was a hella lot of fun that year. just because of that particular anime called haikyuu. it was that good for us high schoolers. and to think we all team up to have jersey repressenting the haikyyuu anime XD it was amazing year.

I'm so glad to see them agree that Bakugo is a shit character. Also the fact that the first two romances they mentioned were Toradora and Golden Time makes me so happy, and seeing Joey say Uruka is best girl warmed my heart.

Trash taste is really slowly revealing the boys personality. Garnt is more spiritual than expected, Joey has a very misleading vocabulary (like Tobias Funke) and Connor's life is weirdly Anime.

Ambulances also cost money in Australia. Starts at about $950 AUD for an emergency ride. I believe in two states it's free. If you have a healthcare card or something equivalent (in my state) it's usually waived. We do have an ambulance membership though. So for about $50 yearly for singles, the rides are free.

Reasons to like Uzaki-Chan: -Chill slice of life and romantic atmosphere -Funny side characters who are in the know of the romantic tension and make meta jokes - competent MC who can retort without even trying -Uzaki's personality of both teasing her senpai and being a wholesome waifu (cooking, nursing etc.) - Uzaki's character design Personally, I like "boring" shows like Working!!; Servant x Service; Uzaki; etc. because the banter of the characters and their hijinx entertain me. I don't need shows like "big brain" shows or dark shows to make me be pensive and think of the essence of being all the time. Sometimes folks just wanna chill. This has been my TED Talk. Also Bakugo is best boi. Folks like redemption arcs.

Honestly had a lot of test and all in October (live in Canada with insurance) . And I can tell you for a ride too the hospital in Canada it was 150$ in the ambulance. But the rest was cheap and covered for life for rehab after the surgery I had. They thought I had Covid, they thought I had other problems and also even did test for cancer. But yea wasn't that bad. The hard part is always finding what's wrong. The worst thing is going to the hospital and doctors can't find what's wrong and turns you back home. The rarer the disease the less chances you have to be treated. And I feel your pain Connor. But it sucks when your organs fail you and it just never ends... Sometimes the body fucks up. From external reasons or just from a an error in the body. At least these Videos keept me entertained when I couldn't move. I didn't have cancer luckily. Just a tumor crushing all my nerves in my spine. But hey I can walk again. The hardest part in the hospital is knowing what's wrong for doctors. And then it's the wait depending on priority. Or if they even got your problem right.

I had't watched Re Zero season 2 so when I heard them say they'll talk about it in a minute I stopped the podcast and spent 2 days catching up to the series and I came back with high expectations of hearing a deep discussion on Subaru's mental state aaaaaaaaand... I waited and waited... and waited ... :D :D :D :D

One of my earliest memories was from when I was 2 years old chasing one of my older brothers around the house. I was chasing him into his room when he he slammed the door shut with my fingers in the side with the hinge. I remember just looking at the door and trying to pull my hand out, only for nothing to happen. I began crying and my dad came to check on me. I specifically remember when my fingers were super twisted on the drive to the hospital, they were slowly going back to normal, only for them to be completely fine when we got there. I don’t even remember pain I just remember not being able to escape the door. What a memory.
