French kickboxing legends Jerome Le Banner and Cyril Abidi went to war in one of the most iconic matches in the history of the sport! #lebanner #k1 #kickboxing
at 3:37 he head butted him, and he did it on purpose, he is not a true warrior. Actually his skills in kickboxing is disappointing as a world class level. Jerome Le Banner is a true warrior, I respect him so much and learnt a lot from his heart and aggressive style.
Wow! Good eye. He totally whipped his head into him, and it was a very technically executed one. He's clearly done this before to be that good at it. Dirty
Cyril Abidi was bad, but on the other hand he was good at taking shots and never giving up anything. Lebanner would not have held 1/10 of the shots he put (sorry for my english)
Right? What a world class moron, worst ref I've ever witnessed.. there was a moment in that fight, 2nd or 3rd round when it was totally necessary to stop but I guess that push to floor definitely crossed the line lol he saw enough to stop the at that point
@@andrewmartinez4168 he called it correctly the guy was wobbling all over the place. The fight should have been stopped before that. Not that you care about these fighters quality of life after fighting. 🤦♂️
RESPECT Mr LE BANNER .

This referee has definitely been the cause for so many CTE cases in this sport. I know this is a really old fight but that referee did an absolutely horrendous job.
The title should have been: "Referee tries to cause The Most BRUTAL Kickboxing Fight of All Time". But i have to give it to the endurance of Cyril Abidi. His brain must have gone through hell that night.
Abidi was amazing! Such an undefeated spirit! You can see he's not scared one second in this fight, and throwing everything he can far beyond his limits. All that to play along with the match, while convinced he can't win this, very early. Everytime he goes down, you see he watches his corner, waiting for approval to stop the match. And everytime he seems to not getting this show to stop, he gets immediatly back in and keep fighting hard, while clearly dominated. Such a selfless way of fighting, such a soldier, I'm impressed. And Jerome is a true gentleman fighter, as always : never mocking his opponent, never making a cheap blow or throwing a single out of control punch or kick when opponent is down, never contesting the referee, never fighting with half a heart, doubt or slowing down. Same respect for the rule : if they say to keep fighting, he keeps fighting, and he'll do it properly to the end. (even though he met his limits too, here, endurance-wise) You want them to fight, those guys fight, properly and fully, and they'll keep fighting until someone decide the match is done for it. Beautiful monsters of legend.
@@dadalife84 What I am asking is,is there a rule where for example you are knocked down by a punch(not pushed),a certain number of times in the same round, you have lost yhe fight?
Watch your mouth buddy. I agree with your point but, let's remain polite please. I personnaly know this gentleman and he is a great guy and an amazing coach. It is easy to blame when you are not the one standing on the ring.
C'est pas possible, c'est un mutant Cyril Abidi. Rester debout malgré tout ce qu'il a encaissé ça relève du prodige. Ou du miracle. Bravo à lui et bravo à Géronimo car il faut être deux pour livrer un beau combat.
@@MANI75108 well he defeated peter aerts 2 times that was his best achievment. cant believe he did it we all know peter is way better fighter. it happens , hoost lost to sapp twice
This fight was surprising to watch and see the outcome. Initially, I thought that Cyril was done after several knockdowns. However, his resilience proved to reveal him to be a pretty good fighter. He took some really good shots but also gave some good blows that resulted in Banner's obvious hematoma. The size difference of the two fighters was apparent as well as the weight behind the punches given by both men. I will admit, I believe Banner won this fight but, it was NOT an easy win. He walked away with the gift of swelling which needed medical attention. Bottom line...good fight!
@@plasmaastronaut no, the guy with blue gloves had ricin or some other toxin laced into his gloves, that's the only way a mere cut can swell up so big and so fast.
At 4:35 HOW Did the ref not stop the fight ?!! He was wobbly he wasn’t even looking at the ref lol so he can see if his eyes are all over the place and his arms were resting on the ropes instead of up in front for the ref to grab Aside from a cut the fight was completely one sided
Yea Ino, I thought the same. In boxing they wav it off for things like that. I think he was looking for a way out without having to quit but the reff just threw him back in 🥴
I'm not a boxing fan or didn't want to watch some kind of this sports but in this video from the start to the end I see that it's not the size of your body determine what you can do... it's the determination to fight til the end, sportsmanship and respect shown in this fight....this two are true warriors 💪👏
Yeah I spotted that too. He did that so slickly. But I wonder if the ref would have even called it if he seen it anyway? Such a horrible ref, at least in this fight.
In slight defense of the headbutt by Abidi at 3:37, immediately prior there was a collision of heads that I think Abidi took as a headbutt from LeBanner.
WoW Man, that was some fight, they both showed they are warriors. The man would not stay down. He would not only get up but he would come out fighting. Total Respect to the winner he will look back when he retires and he talks about the hardest battle he ever had was this one.
Yeah sure thats why Cyril ignored the refs warning 3 times in a row for grabbing Le Banners head with both hands pulling his head down to strike, apparently against the rules. Pk in Muy Thai or UFC probly what you're used to, but every organization has their rules which must be followed. Learn the rules. Ref used sign language. Gave yellow card fighter ignored each time. You must be blind!
Another blind armcair expert. Cyril got yellow card after ignoring refs warning not to pull Le Banners head down using both hands to strike. The on 2nd warning he gave that fighter a yellow card, then that fighter kept ignoring refs warning and did it again. I guess you gotta followthe rules, huh
@@diyelaghaphilip6251 after Abidi already got one hell of a beating for 4+ rounds. Boxers have died in the ring for referees that let some fights go on foor too long and a fighter gets badly injured..

I can not lie, I wrote white shorts off in the first round, and every round there after, turns out the man is a machine, utmost respect for his tenacity and endurance.
Jerome Le Banner is prone to that type of injury to his head. If I remember it right, I think he also had that type of injury as well when he fought Semmy Schilt. But despite having that kind of swelling, there is no quit in him.
You can see where the heads collide in that first knockdown of the 2nd round at around 2:11, playing it in 0.25 or 0.5x makes it even more apparent. With this type of clash, you are going to see this type of swelling happen a lot immediately afterwards. You might argue that his style itself creates more opportunities for heads to clash, but I don't think he would necessarily be prone to this type of injury, just unlucky to have it happen.
I don't know how no one saw that clear headbutt. Everyone saying it was a good fight that was dirty I was going for the underdog and when I saw that I instantly rooted for the aggressor.
Referee seems enjoying the fight so much and while both fighters are busy hammering each others brain with such brutality, their bank's accounts swelled with millions of pounds as well. What a payday. Everybody happy at the end.
That hematoma gave me a flashback of Mark Hominic vs Jose Aldo or more recently, Joanna Jedrzejzcyk after (I think it was) one of the Rose Namajunas fights.
Jerome Le Banner is one of my favourite kick boxers of all time but I have to say his chin isn’t the best. He has been ko’d a few times, although admittedly it was by the best of the best. Ernesto Hoost 3x, Peter Aerts, Rey Sefo and Mark Hunt. His body can definitely take any kind of beating though. Built like a f’ing tank!
