The only thing I want to say is that no one else in the world can play like the magician from Riga and no one else can explain this game better than you Mato Jelic... Although I watched all your Mikhail Tal's uploaded games but this game is incredibly amazing.,my best ever.....
All those recent chess computers mentioned here are strong cold calculating super masters, but they do not come close to Tal. Despite all the imperfections that humans like Tal have, players like Tal transform chess into an art and not just a bland raw number crunching puzzle.
A0 is the only chess computer in recent times to not employ a "position crunch" strategy and perform well. Stockfish is great at chess, but its search tree system is utterly boring and only possible by a computer. Sure, A0 still searches thousands of positions a second, but it does so much more elegantly than "here, let me test every possible position and find out which one is the best for my built in rating system"
Watching Tal's games is mindblowing... Most of the times I can guess the move (sacrifice) he makes but in this game I couldn't guess any move. Truly most complicated game ever played by anyone!
I watched almost every Tal's game from your channel but this one is the most incredible and most playing with my brain. Thank you Mato for an outstanding commentary
This has to be one of the best games ever played. It should get more recognition. It blows my mind even more than the Game of the Century. The queen just sat there as a constant threat for so long... just staring at the King... and Koblents simply couldn't get rid of her. Never seen a piece stuck for so long yet dictate the entire game.
I love how Mato explains a game without over analyzing. He knows that we know he understands chess. No need to give the engines top 6 suggestions after each move. Just gives variations when it matters. And, I like that he sounds like a cold war era east European spymaster
The thing is, I don't understand chess that good. In some variations where he stops after saying "white is winning here" I have to run the engine. I am certainly not good enough as Stockfish at depth 40, so unless I am shown the line till the end I do not understand how white is winning. Like in this position at 6:38: (1rb2k2/R7/p1Bb2nn/3p1p2/8/2N2P2/PPP5/2KR4 w - - 1 1) Mato proposes Rh1 and white is winning . I can't see how exactly white is going to win, material is about equal. And for Rh1 evaluation is 0.0 at depth 46 with proposed move for black Bc5.
wow that move on 5:35 is amazing, it's called a placchuta, it is so rare that it's almost never seen in actual games but rather in composed chess puzzles...
I don't think I have seen any other game with that many consecutive awesome moves, all of them very unexpected and hard to find, hard to play against also. This here is why I prefer Tal rather than any other player.
At the beginning of the video I started to suggest the moves, but after one minute I found it's better to just watch as a dumb without any suggestions 😀
Ovo je, ljudi, neverovatno! Evo razloga zbog cega volim sah.
I can never thank Mato enough for the truly awesome pieces of art you bring in this channel. Re-watched this 10 times.... speechless, probably one of Tal's top 3 best games ever. Your comment to every chess game is simply superb, thank you.
He play a good and clever move. But Tal also play a good and clever move. But why Tal is winning?. Its simple. Attacking is always better than defending.
Thank you Mato! I am a huge fan of yours and I was hoping you would analyze this game for a long time as it is my favorite Tal game. As always you did a wonderful job of being instructive and entertaining!
My favorite commentator on chess for some years now (since Tal actually) is MJ. GM Tal walked up to the table when I was running Deep Thought II in Long Beach (it was connected over a dialup to Carnegie-Mellon where the rest of the team was physically located with DT) when it beat GM Larsen and co-won the event with GM Miles. I have thought for some years now what two quick blitz games between DT and GM Tal would have done to the world. However, I failed to suggest it. Unfortunately, GM Tal is no longer with us and DT I/II having mutated to Deep Blue and retired 20+ years ago in 1997 before the 2017 anniversary homage by Google DeepMind AI (Chess) crushed StockFish in a 100 game match (unique playing style in GDMA) , we will never know. However, Tal (easily) remains my favorite player of all time. He was quite gifted and I enjoyed his his top chess newsman's review of the table where we had the link to DT setup with the support of Les Crane of Software Toolworks (sponsor) at the event. My personal instructor, Richard Shorman of Hayward California, trained me on Morphy/Capablanca/Tal, in that order and advocated a sacrificial, completely non-drawish extreme-pre-Romantic, non-materialistic style to the game which influences my play and preference to this day.
Well, I would say that Alexander Koblents played a SPETACULAR game, and he could have won this one at any point, if only he moved a piece differently (or Tal had any different move also).
This is very complex. Have a good look around 6:50 Nearly all pieces are actively involved in the game. The players were forced to evaluate almost every possible move for almost every piece on the board. There was no knight "sleeping" on the rim, many moves away from the spot where action was happening... Fascinating game
first chess video i saw on RU-vid is uploaded by u one of the games of tal and i like a lot the way he plays and the way u tell till then to now i'm a big fan of "Mikhail Tal" .He is really a magician of chess and i can also say that if he live today then he will play like alpha zero
Did you watch this year's London Chess Classic Mato? It'd be nice if you could review it, some of the games there were pretty exciting, particularly the Fabiano vs. Ian Nepo playoffs!
This game is just pure insanity. The amount of hanging pieces and calculation is just unbelievable. That bishop on b5 is probably the best bishop in the history of chess.
