In the Mew2King DSR situation that is definitely a case of Gentleman's Rule, which is if both players agree to play on a particular stage, even if it's an illegal one, they can. By M2K's opponent's not protesting they are agreeing to play on that stage.

Definitely agree on the "if you start the stage, it counts" thing. By agreeing to play a stage that you shouldn't have, you're basically attempting to give yourself two chances at that game; if you win, you take the W, and if you lose, you go "well, actually this shouldn't have counted" and argue to give yourself a second chance. Invoke the rule *before* the stage is picked and your fine. Letting the match play out and invoking the rule to get a second chance, and now *you're* the one gaming the system.

For me, the big problem with Mew2King breaking Dave's stupid rule is that Unknown could have said something before. He let it get to game five and waited until he lost to claim a redo. That's dirty if you ask me. He held on to that rule to get a free redo. M2k shouldn't have been allowed to do what he did, but Unknown definitely abused the rules.

The issue for the DSR set is that if Unknown won, the rule would never have been called. If the reset only happens if you lose then it's not about applying the rules its about cheating the results. If he knew about the rule he should have called it at the start of the game, not after the set.

I feel nowadays what happened to you HBox with the 2 out of 3 wouldn't be allowed to stand. Saying 'We changed it you should have asked' is the weakest excuse a tournament can have. It's up to organisers to make sure that their players are in the know. Especially when there are prizes at stake. The match should have been replayed.

If you look at the most famous FGC moment ever, the Daigo parry, you'll see Justin Wong (the guy getting parried) mashing his controller and screaming his head off in an attempt to rattle Daigo and keep him from pully off that insane parry. It didn't work in that case, and it might be grimy, but on the other hand, its hilarious as anything

You can't read the rules before the tournament starts, because they can change during the tournament without informing the players. You can't ask TOs before each match, because you can be given the wrong information.

Here's a list from my 10 years in Smash. - When a smash player stinks REALLY BAD that it is hard to concentrate to play because you can smell it. - Snake players in Brawl getting Down Throw chains by looking at your controller so you would need to hide your controller under your shirt / sweater. - When the crowd is gasping during certain combos / Grab follow ups to try and pressure the player into air dodging. (I would occasionally lean forward on my chair after a R.O.B. down throat in smash 4 because when a player saw me move closer to the TV, they would instinctively air dodge.) - When a player is cursing, yelling, and throwing a tantrum within a match WHILE YOU ARE PLAYING, to try and break your confidence by coaching your mistakes or advantages. - Being DQ'd for not being at the store where the tourney was held, despite going for a minute to buy myself a drink, just because "I left the venue." - Getting kicked out of a bar (Being DQ'd essentially), because I brought a drink from outside and it spilled instead of buying a drink from the bar itself without any warning.

Funny thing about the Dave's Stupid Rule with M2K and the coaching between Hbox and SFat. "Since both players violated the rules the match will stand", M2K and Unknown both also violated the rules because they both willingly played on a stage that DSR fell under thus the match should not have been replayed.

Players shouldn't be punished for others' incompetence. 15:20 I'm pretty sure there's reason to believe that this was just a poorly executed joke. Sure, that's sort of playing devil's advocate and it makes less sense, but there's reason to believe that he thought it would be funny to pretend to push for the SD pause rule given the ridiculous circumstances.

Mike Haze is super grimy and unsportsmanlike. Screaming at the opponent is an aggressive action, it might not be in any rules, but it's still an aggressive action on par with touching your opponent. It's the equivalent of a cheap shot in any sports.
