Worth remembering that Neil trains MMA fighters. you might find that nobody wants to roll with you if you adopt too many of Neil's techniques. To be used only with guys who can take it and only if you're willing to take it back too. My coach worked with Neil and said that everything he does causes pain.

He states this outright on his training vids. Making the opponent uncomfortable in order to force scrambles and guard changes is part of pressure passing in grappling, at least from my side of the fence. One of his favorite tricks is grinding his skull against your face.
@guam58
@guam58 3 года назад
If you are a competitor you train what you feel is your style. Not rolling with someone who uses pressure too make one feel uncomfortable, hurts your game. If you are competitor and are matched with someone who uses a catch wrestling style pressure then what do you do? I feel it hurts someone's game if you don't roll with different styles. I understand if this person is intentionally trying to hurt people then yes no one will want to roll with you.

The key factor is one's mindset. When I roll, I use this technique. That being said, I do not try to finish it. I usually stop my knee from moving just before it starts to hurt. After asking my partner if he is okay, we both laugh and resume our roll. Catch and jujitsu are not the same. Catch is more akin to "I will cause so much pain, so you will want to give me positions so I can finish." You would not care whether you tapped someone or not if you had a sound ego and the correct mindset. Then you can use whatever technique you like. You will obviously not have any partners if you just drive your knee hard into someone's neck.

Catch, in my opinion, is the most brutal kind of grappling, and it might not be the best when grappling alone. However, I humbly believe that it works better for street fighting or mixed martial arts. The majority of CACC movements can be extremely painful, if desired.

Such great info. I dont favor the elbow on the matt and prefer like a cross face power half on top. I liked the knee clearing too! I like all Neil's work, but personally I dont like the top arm defense to the knee shield everyone does, because it give a head and arm. I prefer an MMA principle to the arm!
