Hi brother! I´d love to know your thoughts about this idea I´ve developed lately. The problem with many judo throws is that they expose the back to the opponent. If your opponent is a wrestler (and he can suplex), your takedown attempt has to be effective; it doesn't matter if it´s not fight-ending, but at least you have to take the wrestler to the ground to do your groundwork. If your takedown attempt is soft, the wrestler will suplex you, and the fight will be over. Even with the existence of the wrestler's kryptonite against judokas, judo is the most complete grappling art, and in my eyes, the best art for self-defense. Simply because most people cannot suplex you, and as a judoka you are very capable of doing fight-ending takedowns and finishing fights with your groundwork. I´d love to read your thoughts on this, I don´t claim to know everything, but I just can´t think differently after doing the big three grappling arts. Have a good one! P.D. I´ve done judo, freestyle, and greco wrestling. IMO, the best fight-ending takedowns for the streets come from Greco.
