What's even sadder regarding the Lions: They broke their *own* record when they lost 26 straight on the road. Previously, they had lost 24 straight from 2001 to 2003.

So the chiefs one, least amount of sacks in a season, really isn’t that embarrassing. The most embarrassing stat in franchise history, in my opinion, was the season where we did not throw a touchdown to a wide receiver.

Another embarrassing Cardinals stat: They have the worst all-time turnover differential at -384. The next worst is the Bills at -157.

Having the most Super Bowl losses is one thing, but losing those five Super Bowls by 17 points or more is even *WORSE*

Great list. The only one I would change is the Bears; instead of the penalties stat, I think it's more embarrassing that they don't have a single 4,000 yard passer in the 16=game era, and that they didn't have a QB throw for 30 TDs from 1978 through 2010.

As a Bears fan, I'm surprised that the team doesn't have more embarrassing records.

In 1944, the Pittsburg Steelers and the Chicago Cardinals, experiencing player shortages, merged into one team, known officially as "Card-Pitt". Fans called them "Carpet", because everyone walked all over them, and they went 0-10. The records of that team are considered by the NFL to belong to a unique franchise, and are not ascribed to either the Cardinals or the Steelers. Thus the Cardinals losing streak in the 1940's is officially recognized as 19 games, not 29, making the Buccaneers' losing streak of 26 games (all 14 games in 1976 and the first 12 games of 1977) the NFL record for most consecutive losses. Some interesting side notes (because I'm bored and love NFL history): The year before the Card-Pitt merger, the Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles conducted a similar merger, known officially as "Phil-Pitt", but lovingly called the "Steagles" by fans. That team posted a 5-4-1 record, falling short of a division title by just one game. The Buccaneers' losing streak is unmatched, but the 19 losses in a row suffered by the Cardinals has been done by two other franchises. The Raiders in the early 1960's, and the hapless Detroit Lions of 2007-2009. Two other franchises, however, have suffered longer streaks without attaining victory. The Washington Redskins went 23 games without winning from 1960-1961, losing 20 and tying 3. Honestly I think having the longest playoff appearance drought in ALL professional sports teams in North America for 17 years was worse than losing 4 super bowls for the Bills. To have every team in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL to have been in the playoffs more recently than the Bills from 2000-2016 was insane.

Personally as a Steelers fan I'd have put hiring Walt Kiesling to coach the Steelers three times as their worst record. Three times, same guy, same sub par record and same nightmarish management style that drove off players like mad. Man imploded the team each time he held the job. Cut local college football star Johnny Unitas because "he'd never be a professional quarterback" as well as driving off several other future Hall of Fame players from the Steelers in the 1940s and 1950s. Without him the Steelers likely would have been a good team in the 1950s.

In the Super Bowl Era, the Oakland Raiders were shutout three consecutive games in 1981, the year after they won their final Super Bowl as the Oakland Raiders. Before the Super Bowl era, there were a couple of now-obscure teams in the 1920s with 7 shutouts.

It also took the Bucs 31 seasons before they ever returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
