I love your Nonna and grandpa! They're straight from the heart! No filter, no pretense. How refreshing! Can we make this with wheat flour only and avoid eggs?
@@thespicynonna yes they remind of my Italian grandmother Florence she was the best so sweet our ancestors your dad is a beautiful artist and expert gardener I love fresh vegetables chow so lucky to have them
Thoroughly enjoying the mix of Italian recipes and the unique twists on "20th century Canadian household standards": banana bread, cabbage rolls, hamburgers etc. Nonna and Mama sure seem to know how to make everything taste just a little bit better.
I was watching your grand daughter in her channel and she mentioned your channel 😃. Love her and I know from where she got it from. It looks delicious the banana cake 💜🪷🙏🏽
I agree w the 4 bananas being better than 3 so the banana pushes through. I’ve never had it with dates because I don’t like dates, but never opposed to trying. Precious family! ❤
Your grandparents are related to me for sure. They act like my eighty year old brother and his wife and family. But they came from Puerto Rico. 😂 I love love watching them. May the Good Lord bless them with long life. 😊
Great recipe!!! I had this as banana bread. I love the cake idea. I never had figs in it, but I do like figs. I would have to try it to see if I prefer figs in the cake. Thank you for the recipe!!!
I like your hair, White like your Dad, and thick. When you pull it back, you look much younger, and I can see a strong resemblance to Vanessa when it's pulled back and thick white. You're lucky to have such a mane, thankyou Nonno. 🕊 from Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Try a date shake!! YUM ❣️ That recipe looks so delicious. Can't wait to try it. I guess in a Bundt pan, it's banana cake. In a loaf pan it's banana bread?? 😂 Both delicioso 😋 Bravo 👏 Ciao 👋 😘
I have 2 black bananas that are now going to become a half recipe banana cake! With dark chocolate chips and without dates! 😉 Can’t wait to eat it, thank you for the recipe!! 👌💕 PS Dipping in coffee will be totally decadent!! Yummy!!!
I've never added dates, but I will now. Also, I don't have raw sugar in my pantry so I'm going to use coconut sugar. I have so many banana bread recipies, even one in which I make my own almond butter for it. ~ YOURS looks so yummy! WE eat 1st with our eyes, and right now my eyes are POPPIN' ...
Pleasure to meet you 😊 Your beautiful pet grooming daughter granddaughter sent us. I only have 2 bananas now, but have used the oven before to ripen the green ones ♥️See you soon 🙂🎉
Nona, blanch and smash dates very fine like you did with the bananas, and put them inside the cake instead of the sugar. He won't eve taste, and know that are dates inside. Everything is in his head. Thank you Nona for this recipe ❤
It's not in the head, that is a gross assumption. Dates have a distinct taste, he will definitely taste it and he will taste the lack of sugar. I don't dates and I can taste it when it has been added to food, even when I can't see it.
@@thespicynonna It was so delicious. Its now my go to recipe for Banana cake. 🤗. I have to say I visited Italy when I was young and fell in love with the cuisine to this day. A lovely family. Xx
Oh, I will have to try this. Looks good. My nonna's two desserts were.... la torta di riso and la crema. I might have the spelling wrong. She fixed up some good grub.
I'll need to buy one of those cake pans and give this recipe a whirl - never thought of adding walnuts so this will definitely be delicious and make my apartment neighbours want a piece lol My question is: I assume that you wait for the cake to cool off before turning the pan upside down to free the cake?
I'm no dates team! I make a similar one, just 3 eggs if 3 bananas, and it's one of those cakes that work amazing with gluten free flour (which is the only one my body can handle).
