it's only the importation of lamb lungs which is banned in america since they thought you could get TB from them (you can't). So any usa made haggis is legal but there is little demand for it since americans seem to joke about it being disgusting.
Our seafood here in scotland is something that we don’t see enough of in a lot of food vlogs. Surely has to be up there with some of the best in the world, glad to see it being shown and enjoyed
I can't wait to visit and have Scottish seafood. I come from the islands (Hawaii) and miss fresh seafood. I live in the continental US where the word "fresh" is often misused lol
What a lovely couple, thank you for visiting Scotland & being so kind & complimentary about the food & the nation. Always take good care of yourselves 💙❤️
As a Glaswegian I really enjoyed this video. Just two minor issues with the street names - Chakoo is on Saint Vincent Street and Doner Haus is on West Nile Street, this isn’t a criticism, it’s just in case anyone was looking to go to either place. Great video, I’m now a subscriber!
Two ? THIS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I1IM37OY0Kg.html is more serious than the twonk who wrecked a lassie's trip of a lifetime by creaming it over Italian food and baulking at haggis, on a holiday to Scotland. If he had the apps, screwed up then couldn't 'look' the part for her and STILL wanting to be in the Med, he's a weird eejit and she should give him one final kiss, Glaswegian. Ye ken ? Yes [full disclosure, as they say in the divided states] I think she's fit and yes I'd like her to try my haggis, but that's for her to request my Fetlife link regarding [worth putting it out there, no?]. Imagine the poor feckers that had to serve him. He probably bribed them under the table to get her haggis. I lived in USA and HAVE tried 'haggis' sold there. It costs a fiver a fecken forkfull pretty much and is OBVIOUSLY a ploy to get ye buying drinks [saltier than the Red Sea]. But, they obviously missed out on the full Glasgow experience, not one of them got arrested or even ended up assaulted. They seem to have gone hame without even a scar to fondly remind them.
I travelled many years ago trough out Scotland. I was born in Glasgow but spent all my life in Florence Italy. I remember the astonishing quality of fish and mussels I ate in Scotland. I miss them very much. I got envious of you guys eating those beautiful dishes!
Adam and Madalyn, I came across your video thanks to RU-vid’s random selection offerings. May I congratulate you a very interesting and insightful film on food from around Scotland? Your video was beautifully composed and edited, nicely paced, and your commentary was like a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of other reviewers from the US. You have the knack of bringing the viewer into your video as if we were there sharing the food with you, a rare talent. You describe how the food tastes, what it is made of, and also the ambience and history of the places where you are dining. You’re not afraid to go off the beaten track and seek out local restaurants. Bravo! Thoroughly enjoyable quality viewing, thank you. I shall be seeking out your other videos and I've subscribed to your channel. My best wishes to you both.
Glad yous enjoyed your visit and thank yous for getting the word out there we have more on offer than deep fried mars bars👍🍺🍺🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Hi Adam & Madalyn. I am from the UK and it's so nice to see real people eating real food and enjoying it. I think British food has got a bad reputation in the U.S. but I don't know why 😂😂 Hope you enjoyed your trip.
“I’m going in on Madeleines gammon..”😂that sounded so Scottish😂 My despicable Scottish mind always tries to see the funny side of things and that comment made me laugh out loud.😂 All that food looks incredible. I need to take a wee trip up to Edinburgh and Glasgow to try those places. They looked braw. Loved the video guy.👍I didn’t even know those places existed. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I’m glad you enjoyed our country. ALBA GU BRATH!🏴✊
@@ThePsmith1985 Are you sure you're not lost ? I believe you must be lost, yes. New eyes here too though, never saw a schnitzel sandwich anywhere here, chicken or otherwise. I lived in USA, [don't let on, I'm still hoping the scottish rizodo and gnocchi fan won't block me before I finish taking the deserved piss out of him.] where a lot of things that aren't sandwiches ... are called sandwiches ... and hardly anyone attempts to pronounce anything for the purposes of being ... understood by ought but a cheap translation app. I definitely shed new light on Scottish food I've never seen though. So, either we're going out back for a razor fight, or getting pished like civilised pals ... and falling out criminally over the match, for fun ?
OK....UNCLE!!! There are few Countries that I have not seen in my 70years. Scotland is the one Country I return to again and again. Thank You for disproving the "Bland Food/ Deep Fried Everything" Myth about Scotland. The only issue that I have with your video is that it's May and I won't be back in Country until September and seeking out your recommendations. Been to several of these Restaurants but now I have more to explore....thank you ( BTW The Haggis Box is a Gem ). Wonderful Video and happy to have found your Channel. Addendum! Donuts in Scotland are an Art. Tantrum in Glasgow, The Bearded Baker, Twelve Triangles and The Kilted Donut in Edinburgh......Oh Yeah!
You should try ‘square’ sausage also known as Lorne Sausage also Scottish Morning Rolls. Kippers for breakfast is another option (you can still have poached eggs, tatty scones etc)
Now then, now then, not all square sausage is Lorne, The really fun part is that almost no square sausage is square from any angle. I suppose it makes sense to ply the yanks with WHISKY [note the spelling you prospective tourists, someone WILL spot if you come here using E's] before feeding them compressed trapezoidal scraps under the title 'square' eh ? You nailed it on Morning Rolls, I'm well traveled, definitely need to keep them secret from the English and the Murkins can't keep their mouths shut about 'greatest foods', when their immediate next European [ish] coach tour stop is Saxonland, next thing you know the Westminster monsters will be commandeering the first morning rolls out of the bakers daily and that, would be enough to finally break the 'Union' IMO. Keep calling the scones 'tatty' though, the Saesneg [Cymraeg, Granny entitles me to play for Scotland, and I do. So I'm a Celto-Gaelic Tart and WILL TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN cheeky CUNNINGLINGUISM] will think they're crap so we get to keep them. Now, why am I suddenly imagining the smell of fish ?
I never really comment on video’s, but you two together commenting on my favourite styles of food is brilliant! Your editing and camera skills are awesome in-between. Adam, loved your experimentation’s on the food, you never know until try it attitude. By the way Madalyn, I appreciate your soup fascination, I am addicted to soups, especially Cullen Skink! Haha
I was a participant in 3 events in the Scottish Highland Games in 1993 (I was 14 years old and was competing in the Junior events). I competed in the Tug-o-War (Our team won), the 300M sprint (I came in 2nd out of 34 competitors in total) and the 400M Hurdles (Which again, I came in 2nd out of 34 competitors in total). For a 14 year old, I was extremely physically strong (I volunteered to help out in my local farm since I was about 9 years old, which made me fit AF!) Lol. I was also a tomboy and spent most of my free days either cycling, climbing trees, (playing with disgusting stuff...) or just running...for the sake of it. I felt as though I was flying! LOL. (So I was very fast). Just a wee personal story of 1 of the contestants in the Event.
Damn ! Here I am at 3am, getting hungry watcging your lush video, berating myself for not having visited Scotland this year. I try to visit every year..its about 250 miles away from where I live. You really did justice to the the country, and its food. Awesome. 👏
I really enjoyed your video and hope you will continue to make more. I do however find it frustrating to watch Americans use of silverware. The need to move the fork from one hand to the other is something a child does before they master the correct technique.
Hello guys. Enjoyed your videos and happy to see how you enjoyed our wee country! Watching in reverse order it seemed like you both shrunk in front of my eyes! Your love of the scenery and food really came through! Come again!
I would say that a lot of Scottish people like myself wouldn't necessarily have a sauce with the haggis its usally straight forward haggis tatties n neeps all mashed together. the Cullen skink you had must have forgotten to put the pieces of fish in it ie never seen it smooth like that im pretty sure the tattie was missing too lol
Next time you’re back you should do dinner at Smiths in uddingston. They have this feathered blade of beef that’s to die for. There is also a Russian cafe in Glasgow city area that’s amazing. Cafe Cossachok it’s so good.
Come on guys. Haggis is sausage! Instead of being stuffed in intestines it is traditionally stuffed in a sheep's stomach. The way you ate it it was just not stuffed so it ends up more like a hash. It is common in many countries to mix meat with a starch in sausage. I love Swedish Korv which is pork and potato sausage. Sheep's lungs are the ingredient that is illegal in the USA. Haggis sans the lungs is be perfectly legal. Great video. The beef with mash looks like something I could eat every day.
Wowowowowow! If I wasn't in love with Scotland before, I'm head over heels now. Beautifully shot, excellent descriptions. Also, I love how y'all are being quiet and courteous with your recording, makes me so happy to subscribe! Can't wait to see everything else. -Cheers
The way u guys present food is unreal! Those scallops with the salad looked out of this world! I have to go to that Restaurant! Thank you for your awesome upload!❤️🥰
Hey Guys, what a brilliant video. I am so glad you appreciated our country and cuisine. So glad you visited Glasgow,my hometown. So many fantastic restaurants. Hopefully see you guys back soon, look forward to your next adventure. Best wishes from Aberdeenshire😉 where I stay now.
Are you sure those were langoustines?? They really looked like prawns, I think they ripped you off mate 😂 gorgeous video, gorgeous food, really enjoyed
Hey guys fellow travel creator, great video. Loved Edinburgh. Such a great city. I got haggis from the tempting tatie shop near the royal mile. So good can’t wait to return.
Apart from the pronunciations, which everybody gets wrong, loved the empty plates and the fact you enjoyed Scotland, food and scenery, in our opinion, is very hard to beat, especially seafood which is exported all over the world, thanks for the video.
Why so many judgy comments from watchers? It's a lovely video of their trip enjoying some delightful meals. Give them a break with the flatware etiquette.
I love this so much. Wonderful locations. Stunning countryside. Love watching your reactions to everything. And also you both enjoying some fantastic grub. I almost felt like I was there with you! The food in Scotland is amazing. You two made it look so wonderful to visit and explore. I salivated at each food part and as for the scenery and other details I just loved it all❤
If there's a word to sum up Scottish fare it would be FRESH. I live on the east coast in Fife. In a 20 minute drive I can go from fish hauled that morning to the farms for my fresh veggies, fruits, meats and game. But don't worry thees still always a mackie D somewhere close by. And never forget Scotlands love for a good curry and beers.
The vegetarian Haggis is quite often better. Chicken Tikka was invented by Indian chefs in Glasgow. I live in Edinburgh, but I live Glasgow. Glsdgows's art scene is incredibly lively and full of fabulous work from local creators.
I have often wondered why, if you are a vegetarian, why do you want to eat a substitute for the real thing? Also, I'm pretty sure chicken tikka was invented on the indian subcontinent, where tandoor ovens originate. If it's chicken tikka masala you meant, then you are still wrong. That dish was invented on the curry mile in Birmingham!
@@sknox1394 Chicken Tikka Masala might very well have been, but if you read it right. I was on about the actual chicken tikka on a skewer that goes in a tandoor. Not the curry! Do pay attention before trying to be wide. 😉
@@WeAreThePeople1690 You literally wrote previously “If it’s chicken tikka masala you meant, then you are still wrong. That dish was invented on the curry mile in Birmingham”. Perhaps re-read what you wrote instead of attempting to gaslight just because you were mistaken on that particular subject. You are correct about chicken tikka, however, so credit where credit is due.
@@Timbothruster-fh3cw We all have our peccadillo's, It probably stems from being made to use the cutlery" properly " in childhood. Sorry for the offence taken.
Well done. A good selection of tasty food from around the country. Not a fan of haggis. Far rather have mince & tatties. Strangely it can be very tricky to find eating out & surprisingly badly done. Cheers Bob.
Great video guys. You must have done your research you've hit some of the best places. Random factoid for you Chicken Tikka Masala was invented in Glasgow.
well done for trying everything, i have four nephews and nieces in the US & when they come over here invariably they won't try stuff in case they get poisoned !
U need to slow down when filming the beautiful donuts at Tantrium Donuts...OMG, my eyes were glazed over and mouth druling, but u filmed it so fast it was such a tease...I wanted to take in every topping...
Americans use cutlery differently than Europeans. Agreed, it looks awkward to me as well, but it is certainly not a question of "trying to master" but just how cutlery is used in the US.
Thank you for your lovely and inspirational journey. I lovely the tone of your presentation. Your voices and the slow intimate filming makes me feel I’m there with you both. Thank you for sharing a land I’ve always dreamed of visiting. I no longer have my kilts but have a drop of the Scots still stirring in my veins. My uncle John always reminded us of our ancestors. Tapadh leat!
Thank you so much I so enjoyed your video.great to see parts of Scotland and the wonderful foods! I’ve subscribed so really looking forward to watch all your videos!!😊
I’ve been to summer parties and there are people who cook a Suckling Pig and bring the extras rolls, apple sauce and stuffing! The pork crackling is to die for 😋
I was happy that you enjoyed all the food you tried but I think you should have come a little further north and tried the other food Scotland is famous for, namely the Arbroath Smokie or some potted hough You should also check out Scottish stovies and Clootie Dumpling (which can be served as a sweet dish or a savoury)
No Black pudding or kippered Haddock, or Clotted cream on a biscuit ? Tourist food can be very good too I guess, but it is not what the natives eat all the time, most Scots eat tons of Indian food also, which is sometimes better than you can get in India. And Battered fish and chips are staple.
I love haggis, it is great in Jacket potatoes, just to have with your bacon and eggs for breakfast, I especially love it just roasted then just have three tablespoons or five on top of your mash potatoes. I hate turnips.
Really good video, I'm also Scottish, and all the food you had looked superb (apart from the Haggis, yes I'm Scottish and I don't like haggis!!) we'll be going to Chakoo (in Edinburgh) as well as Makers as that beef looked out of this world (along with the the horseradish mash)
Just discovered your channel and loved this video. I'm a native of Edinburgh, actually Leith to be more precise. I was actually at Fingals for afternoon tea last month as a birthday treat, I was born and brought up less than 10 minutes walk away.
Scotland summer, sun stays up till about 11pm. Dont usually see much of it tho xx so glad to see sum reviews of our gorgous local seafood etc instead of the usual deep fried pizza reviews x
The haggis is banned in the Land of the Septic Tank Because it is so good they are ashamed to have it in the shops ' The best sace to have with the forbidden ffood is a traditional white sauce with onions and shallots '
