I'm a little surprised he didn't make the connection that the vertical scrolling is a throw back to literally feeding the paper up and down into the type writer. I would have thought that was obvious but he surprisingly breezed right over that.

@@mercentperrault it unlocks the mechanism that moves the roller forwards, so you can bring it back using the same lever (LF), and pulling it down also rotates the roller by one line (CR). You can do each of these things separately (in a typewriter) or both in one motion (CR/LF). Some newer typewriters would do this on their own and it was hilariously strong and loud. When you're typing and the roller reaches the end of the line, there's a satisfactory DING to let you know.

I like that it's not as tall as a typewriter keyboard. I learned to type on one, but since going to a computer keyboard I've tried to go back and the tall keys definitely impeded my functionality and I had several typos. Granted that was a bigger deal when playing with a typewriter but I'd still rather not be less effective because of the learning curve between my fancy keyboard and the ones I have occasion to use elsewhere.

Well, I'm writing on a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX blue switches. That Qwerkywriter thing has some nice features like BT _and_ USB connectivity ... (hopefully a rechargeable battery for the BT use-case where the battery can be recharged by just connecting the keyboard via USB to a computer or USB charger) ... the rotating knobs... but the BT connectivity is really ideal for mobile use where the weight might be far from ideal. And last but not least, this is 250% of the price I paid for my mechanical keyboard, and I already felt bad for paying so much.

May I suggest doing a video called "The firmest of keyboards"...Back in my hey-day, I spent way too much money on keyboards, got to know them pretty well, in my younger years I broke a ton of them, some of them on my head...I enjoyed Logitech the most, they are the sturdiest I tried.

The Chrome lever is the Carriage Return, or is known on computers now commonly as "Enter", but many keyboards have "Return" or "CR" or even the symbol "Down and back to the Left". Yes, once upon a time to start a new line you needed to physically push the roller carriage with your left hand, which held the piece of paper on the roller and moved the paper and roller leftwards as you typed, and when you hit the far stop it would engage the roller gear to rotate the roller down another line. Unlike on modern printers where it is the head that moves, on mechanical typewriters it was fixed and it was the paper that moved. Watching him unbox it and wonder what it was makes you realise there are whole generations who have never seen or used this older technology!

This is like the last channel on RU-vid that I expected to see a reference to James Townsend's 18th Century cooking and historical reenactment channel. WTF. And I almost never watch Unbox Therapy and only discovered Townsend's channel a couple of weeks ago. Double WTF.

only time I can say that this is truly a terrible product for the price, since you can get a better KB for £100 in the UK, called a model M (though you do lose the aesthetic, you gain the retro computer aesthetic which is nice too)

*Il Papa Vitielo* I own a Model M and use it from time to time. I love it, but must point out that in the world of enthusiast keyboards, there is no definite "better" or "worse." The MX Blues in this thing are different from the buckling springs in the M, and there are people who will prefer them to the sheer the force needed to actuate a BS switch. And it's not like the M is the end-all be-all either; many people prefer the older Model F boards. My point, don't say that this thing is worse than an M, because there are people who will prefer it anyway.

AbuBakr Akram, good point, but my point is not about mx blues being worse than buckling springs, its that for the price, ignoring aesthetic, this keyboard is far worse value to the average buyer than the model M. I have no problem with the switches in question, just the price they ask for the keyboard, $300 for mx blue is a little much imo, when there are so many good cherry boards for less than $100 that work just as well and, with the vintage cherry boards, have even better, higher quality cherry switches. Without the aesthetic this has no point to be bought for, but it is true, no switch is truly the best.

Jose Kercado lols omg no😅. My aunt actually had a that keyboard, im not sure now but i didn't like how it look or even the feel of clicking the keys. Also it looks ugly i either like the modern rgb lighting, unique look and or something with a real old classic look like this with a satisfying click response and sound😊.

I wouldn't mind having a fancy keyboard but I can't get around my current one. I am using the same Logitech key board I've been using for the last 10 years. About 2 years ago started sticking bad because of a soda spill. I unscrewed the case wedged it open and sprayed it out over the kitchen sink. Dried it off and put the case screws back in boom through heavy game play, and all has continued to work for another 2 years. When I do have to replace it I am going to with the current version of the same model.
