Underrated moment: Azula’s mental breakdown. It’s even played as sort of a tragedy and can be difficult to watch. The first time she failed and it broke her. Kinda made you feel bad for someone who never really had a mother figure in her life.

I'm always amazed that they could flip me from hate to pity in only 3 or 4 episodes. Seeing her writhing on the grown, chained, crying/screaming and belching fire wildly....just...hurt.

@@philliptivis3082 ye and I’ve watched a few character insight videos of her on RU-vid. You could see that just like Zuko she never wanted to fail her father because she’s too was scared of him, but Zuko kept fucking up throughout the show and she never did. However Zuko’s failure made him stronger and her desperate attempts to be perfect drove her insane. Zuko was mentored by a man who accepted and dare I say embraced his mistakes, while Azula followed the one who said one mess up was pretty much worthy of banishment.

You gotta give it to Gyatso, he was no pushover. Just look at how many fire nation soldier remains there are in the same room as him (the only airbender in said room).

and many theorize he killed those firebenders by suffocation, dying alongside as he had to hold it in the middle. No air, no fire. And the lack of burnt marks in his corpse does help prove this theory.

@@MrKlausbaudelaire Airbending was seen as a harmless ability that could not do much harm. At least until it was shown that you could do that to somebody. Looking at Gyatso's remains you actually wonder how he died. There were neither burn marks nor blood on his clothes. Guess the theory about him vacuum sealing the room knowing that not only his attackers but he as well will die a slow agonizing death might be true.

Azula striking lightning at Aang when he was in the Avatar state struck me hard. So hard, in fact, I thought Azula killed Aang… until Book 3 was released.

The new Avatar Chronicles: The Legacy of Yangchen just came out this week! The Kyoshi and Yangchen books are soo good. If you want to know more about the canon of the series, I def recommend them.

I knew the bloodbending scene would be among the top picks in this list. This show has been out for nearly 20 years and I’m an obsessive A:TLA fan, but no matter how many times I watch that episode, the bloodbending in both A:TLA AND Legend of Korra always creeps me out! Definitely the darkest moment in the entire series!

kinda surprised Jet's death isn't on here. His was the only real "on screen death" in the show and he was just a teenage boy. Yeah he obviously had issues with his morality and sanity most of the time, but still, they brought him back into season 2 just to kill his character off at the end.

I had no idea what it was until we got the backstory of how he got banished, a large burn scar over half his face being a firebender is pretty ironic when you think about it, but seeing your own father burn your face in front of hundreds of people is just brutal, that probably hurt 10x more than just getting literally burned on the face

Jeong Jeong said he hated being a firebender and wished he was a waterbender. If he saw waterbenders performing the art of bloodbending, he probably would change his mind despite the fact that waterbenders need a full moon in order to bloodbend. First Iroh, then Aang, then Zuko (who took the hit for Katara). Ozai truly saw Azula as a weapon instead of as a human being, but the fact that she didn't question his morals makes her as guilty. Good thing Ursa was able to get out of there when she did, even though she was forced out after Ozai took the throne following Azulon's death.

I agree with this list in general, but I would add that in hindsight (in other words, on a second viewing), nothing compares to the definitive proof of the Air Nomad genocide Seriously. Horrible fathers, abuse of power, even animal cruelty. All recurring concepts, even staples, of kids' TV shows. But the literal genocide of an entire civilisation, so horrifically personified in the wise, kind, love-filled father-figure Gyatso? Brutal

Pretty ironic that the honorable 1 on 1 duel, Agni Kai, was never once honorable in the show for one reason or another Also while, you could argue that the blood bending was very graphic, imo not much is as terrifying or horrible as a child being taken advantage of or abused by their parent. :(

Avatar the last Airbender was the good show. Honestly, I do miss it so much my brother used to watch it with a couple friends and I would watch it too much of the time. It was really amazing. I can’t wait for the live action avatar the last Airbender that’s coming to Netflix it’ll probably be better than m night Shyamalan’s version

They were like Megatron and an a previous prime Giatzo was brave he died brave Shocking just that Dark but boomerang is the hero I can't blame aang I've seen something like that The ending was like empire strikes back but there's a new hope I'm not going to the circus anymore the ringleader is a clown Zuko had right to speak for this men who were nonbenders after all he lost his cousin young I may like water bending but I refuse that move unless in defense.
