You'd picked my Fragrantica comment 😅 i love Kouros and i still think that it's a real masculine one. It's magic begins in the drydown. The opening is real strong and not for everyone. Although i really like it
One of the reasons I like this fragrance a lot is that musky note. There is something classicsly stylish about it, something wild. Definitely a fun one.
PEOPLE WO DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PERFUMES WILL CALL THIS A BAD PERFUME! THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. IF TOM FORD SOLD THIS WITH SOME EXOTIC NAME IT WOULD COST MORE THAN 300 DOLLARS
What nonsense...except for Western Hipsters online or Americans maybe....in real life, I have never encountered someone who negatively reacted to my Kouros fragrance..now I am 44. been using Kouros for over 2 decades now, it is a fragrance that is specially noticed, I have received nothing but compliments and worship! from men and women...across age groups and across countries! It is a true champ, no wonder it's glory is still blazing .🔥🎆
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oobuddy let me guess your favourite scent is probably swy intensely if that’s so then your nose is not even comparable. This scent is the greatest masculine of all time
I was reading my young kids a story a few nights ago and there was a character who was wearing a pungent perfume. They asked what this was so I asked them if they wanted to smell a perfume like the character was wearing. I fetch my bottle of Kouros from the cupboard. I ask my 4 and 3 year olds to sniff the cap…is it yucky or do you like it?…we like it can you spray done on me. Sounds like an thumbs up!!! 😂
Been wearing it since the early 90s when out clubbing But now just on Fridays to work and it upsets all the coworkers. Just makes for a nice segue into the weekend 💫😂😂
There's nothing wrong. We too are animals and it only makes sense we like animalic notes. They're sort of are pheromone emanating glands. They were big, till the last century. The only reason these notes are not being used is to prevent animal cruelty or outright killing them. Even oud which smells quite fecal, is a staple in Middle Eastern perfumery and is one of the costliest ingredients, going upto $10000 for 1 gram.
@@danlightened and because the animal in men is disappearing rather fast being replaced by the wo-men aka wossies, which wouldn't "rhyme" with a man's scent anyways.
Something must be wrong with me per these reviewers, then, because I absolutely love it. I wouldn't mind a Kouros-themed reed diffuser. Or maybe an atomiser. In short: f haters. Rock what you like, not what other people like.
well keep in mind that half of the haters can't even grow a beard and the other half are those boys using women restroom and pee sitting so ... yeah disregard them 🤣
It smells like what you'd imagine Tony Montana smells like, or a shady Armenian car salesman in LA with a thick chain, rings on each finger and chest hairs popping out. It's very strong and most people don't find it pleasant. Sort of smells like shaving cream mixed with petroleum.
Yeah, you wonder how it all started. Same with Hyrax. It's an animal that pees in one place its entire life and during the course of that life this puddle of evaporating pee creates a rock and this rock people use in perfumery. It smells better than real civet though. Real civet is one of the skankiest scents in the world. You need to experience it first hand to really know. Most civet in perfumery these days is synthetic though.
As a perfume reviewer if you have any experience you wouldn’t even entertain that comment. kouros has been around for decades and it lasted the test of time.
Made by the great Pierre Bourdon. Such a contrast from his other creations, like Green Irish Tweed, Davidoff Cool water, Silver mountain water, Mellisime Imperial, Erolfa, Original Satntal, Mont Blanc individual and Joop homme.
Tried this last week at the airport and was a bit surprised in that it is not as bad as anyone makes out to be. Strong - yes. Musky - yes. Animalic- yes. Sweaty etc, not from me. I am tempted to get a tester for a more thorough check out
I like it and have used it in the past, but I've heard they've changed it in recent years, so my opinion is based on the old version. There used to be a men's perfume called HEROS. The flakon was in the form of a male torso. Does anyone know if it's still available anywhere? Is there a reason why perfume is two times the price in Europe than in the US? They used to be a lot lower, but in recent years they've become ridiculously expensive. I guess, I'll just make my own. 87€ for 50ml Kouros Eau de Toilette ist ridiculous.
100 x lol but really nice in a weird way as a kid i did not pick up on the civit to much may be because i never went to the gents loo in a club until i was 18 then realised what everyone was talking about😂😂😂 but never put me off.
@@the_Dark_Knight_12 i bought it about 7 years ago was not as potent but my partner hated it so did her sister 😂😂😂 but i still wore it. Do fancy a bottle just to have in my collection but been reformulated to max from what i hear. Another ghost of Christmas past like armani mania 😥
I've used it in the past - it's true that sometimes it smells like piss, but overall it is very nice and unique scent. If you are Acqua di Gio fan, stay away from it. After all, many great fragrances smell a bit strange - Fahrenheit like petrol, Mugler A*Man like some bitter chocolate, etc.
Antaeus by Chanel is a better alternative to Kouros. Antaeus is not as animalic, but has notes of lavender, myrrh, sage, leather and castoreum. Think Kouros meets Drakkar Noir. A lot safer overall.
who said it smells like piss didn't smell Salvador Dali's pour homme ,and even that smells great on a MAN ...less on a wannabe man to be honest . The point is you need to put Kouros on a man to really appreciate it, on a paper or a woosie is not gonna show its value same as a beard won't look good on a woman
"You should never buy Kouros if you want to get compliments on how you smell" This is not true. Kouros got me more remarks than any other frag... some negative but others very positive. I would rephrase it to "You should never buy Kouros if you want everyone to think you smell good." This is a polarizing scent, but if you're okay with a minority thinking you smell amazing while the rest are trying not to vomit in their mouths, you should give it a shot. Also, the pissy notes that it's so infamous for are only really present in the opening. This frag is very loud and aggressive right after you put it on, but the drydown is actually quite pleasant, even subtle if you don't overspray.
@@SchoolOfScent I haven't. I'm from India and it's very difficult to find anything except popular perfumes from designer houses. Also, a niche perfume is often more expensive than the average monthly income of an Indian. I know there are a few fougere gems but I had bought a few barbershop cheapies a year ago and I just don't want that DNA anymore. The only one I'm still kinda ok with is PS by Paul Sebastian.
There is nothing dated about a subjective thing as perfume. The strong smell, taste of Tea, Coffee, chocolate has been around for longer and taste/smell more dated than barber shop perfumes. Our senses (tongue, nose) doesn't have an biological expiry date.
@@bac1881 'Dated to ME.' But that's just my personal preference. I'm not saying everyone should hate on it. Also, I don't have a problem with any single ingredient. It's that DNA. The way certain notes are blended together. And I think the barbershop type DNA has been way overdone.
