I think it's a bit of a shame MMO mice haven't really escaped the 'mmo' branding, since I think there's a lot of potential we might be missing outside that space. I've been using one for all sorts of media editing for a decade now and it's such a useful part of the workflow. I'd be curious to see if a branding shift to other customer groups would help push a bit of innovation?

I agree. My architect cousin introduced me to the Razer Naga mouse back in 2012. He used it for AutoCAD. I think it was standard company issue. He bought one for personal use and gifted me one as well. I was in awe when he explained to me it was for his work. Seeing that Razer, Logitech, Corsair and now Steele Series have MMO Mice I am hoping that competition will push these companies to make them better especially Razer whose mice durability is always in question and their compatibility with Mac OS. Hoping that Logitech and Corsair make their MMO mice wireless soon.

I originally got an MMO mouse for WoW, but I can't play any games without one now. Having almost all your hotkeys set to your mouse and keeping the keyboard purely for movement feels so much cleaner.

This is how I’ve felt for a long time but got interested on how most pros stick to keyboard keybinds using mechanical keyboards. I think there’s a certain advantage using mechanical switches on a keyboard vs regular button on a mouse but I can’t shake the convenience of the mmo mouse.

Same here, I've been using MMO style mice for like 10 years even for FPS because you can bind the side buttons to all your weapon/equipment/melee etc and pretty much never take fingers off WASD. The ring finger button for me is the perfect discord PTT button. The only mouse I've found with a ring finger button like that is EVGA X15 but its also heavy and not wireless

Ever since Glorious dropped that first mouse I've been wondering who would be the first to give an MMO mouse that treatment. Seems we have our answer now, Steelseries, interesting, was expecting it be Razer. Not for me, but really cool to see and immediately wireless too which also puts it ahead of the competition. I have used Reddragon, now on my 3rd MMO style mouse in probably 5 years, cannot go back to a mouse with just a couple of side buttons. I really do think these should be rebranded, I have never played an MMO, but for productivity and general use it really should be adopted more. I use it for copy, paste, volume, skipping tracks, closing windows, switching windows, opening file explorer, closing windows etc. These should be called swiss army knife mice. Glad to see Steelseries doing this, hope more follows

So I have 3 gripes with this mouse: 1. The 12 side buttons are way too far forward. I have large hands. When I say large I mean that large size work gloves you buy at Home Depot juuuuuuust barely fit me and I have to squeeze my hands into them just a bit. So when I say the side buttons are too far forward then imagine someone with big ol sausage mits having a hard time reaching the front buttons and I use a palm grip and not a claw grip when mousing. 2. The right side of the mouse is narrow, smooth and rounded. This makes it difficult to grab pickup the mouse using my ring finger and pinky finger. I found myself not picking up the mouse, dropping it early when doing large movements or having to concentrate on picking it up and moving into position. 3. The side buttons, for me, were a little too stiff to actuate. The Logitech G600 has stiff buttons and I didn't like that. The Corsair Scimitar has easily pressed side buttons and I would place the Aerox 9 side buttons right in between those two as far as pressure needed to actuate the buttons. Other than those 3 gripes, the mouse is fan-freaking-tastic. The feet on this mouse feel darn near frictionless and it is incredibly light weight. The sensor is super accurate and extremely responsive. I am very sensitive to wireless mouse input lag and I can feel it with the Logitech G604 mouse but the Aerox 9 is incredibly indiscernible. I bet you money that you cannot tell the difference between this mouse and a wired mouse. The battery drops fast with RGB on but sips power with it off. The only mouse that I could see beating this would be if Corsair made a wireless version of the Scimitar.
@Drewsterman777
@Drewsterman777 2 года назад
One more thing I forgot to mention as a gripe. The functions of 'Back' and 'Forward' to go back a page or forward page in a web browser are inherently set to button 4 and 5 respectively. Button 4 and button 5 are not labeled to tell you that they have this inherent command function in the software. So say if you want left tilt on the middle mouse wheel to be the 'back' command then you would assign the left tilt action with button 4 and the right tilt action with button 5 for the forward command. Hope this makes sense because this is not blatantly obvious in the software and figured I'd save others the headache of trying to discover this.

Finally I can make use of my thumb while gaming lol. On a more serious note, having more mouse buttons is more of a game changer than many people might think. You don't have to let go of WASD for any given action or selection which can make a huge difference in heated situations. Some games take more advantage of this than others but when it does it really shines. Not to mention all the use cases outside of gaming. I LOVED my G602 while browsing and working back in the day.

I think it's great to have some competition in the MMO mouse area, since there's really nothing else (that I know of) than Razer Naga. However I don't really see why one would buy this instead of the Naga, since the Naga Pro is cheaper and it has changeable button layouts. I don't think the light weight really makes a difference in the games this is made for, MMOs and MOBAs

If I didn't use the G-shift excessively on the G600, I'd be tempted. I got mine initially for MMOs (and a wireless naga battery blew up in my hand) It's been the gold standard for me in the market, it's cheap feels good in my hands and I can always use the buttons for productivity and gaming, though I did get a second mouse for FPS/MOBA just because of the weight. It's tempting between wireless and weight, Bluetooth toggle would be handy for swapping computers too which is something I've had to do more recently. I don't think I can make the jump, but it's good enough for me to side eye it quite a bit. As for the button lay out, I just mentally see it as a numpad, helped me jump into it quite a bit once it clicked in my head.

I've had 3 wireless naga pros now and they get extremely buggy and even briefly stop working all together while using them wireless, which can really mess you up during games. Currently I have to use my naga pro wireless with the wire to keep it stable. I loved the steel series rival 500 mmo mouse but they stopped making it. Steel series' software is way better than razor's, which I find, is kind of bloaty and obnoxious comparatively. The way steel series decided to alternate the raised buttons on this one looks nice too, plus its competitive enough to be considered fps worthy? I'll have to try this out.

I quite recently got the Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless headset & having the dock charge a battery while your using the other, especially since the batteries last so long & charge so fast. OMG gamechanger. I really don't see why they couldn't apply this same technology to mice as the mouse itself already has a battery that adds weight, so adding the ability to say eject it out the side & slap in a freshly charged battery would be amazing. No more having to worry about your mouse running out of battery & having to charge it, 24/7 365 computing with no wires. You can't tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

Both this steelseries mouse as the corsair one has a lot of buttons, but the surface is flat, meaning that it can be hard to distinguish the different buttons, this wasnt the case with the Nyth. When I compare this review to that of the SwiftpointZ, way better at being more than just an MMO mouse, I can see the fix. Big product companies get their advertisements here. Small company doing so much you can explain it all in 4 minutes, or easily mis-explain it? They're screwed. I wish gaming channels would stop misleading customer to think that the lightest mice are the best. All that matters is smoothness of travel along the surface is on. The mouse actually being heavy is not something that'll ever blip as an ergonomics (and thus not a control or fatigue) concern.

Okay just plugged in the Aerox9 I like it already! But I don't get why every reviewer is saying not for small hands though. I don't know what are they meaning; like a 5 year olds or something? I do not have large hands much to the detriment of my guitar playing, but this is fine, after use I do find bigger hands like a bigger house you live in :) is sort of better. it is a little twitchy right now it needs the software downloaded I guess to change DPI and all. Note: Just watched the part where the button behind scroll wheel changes DPI, 2:25 and it does seem to have 5 different settings by default, in config page you can remove or add up to 5. I'm using 2 at 300 and 600 for now. My G900 has only 3. This can all be changed in software. The G900 is almost exactly the same size minus the hump the Aerox9 has which is nice, I always felt the G900 was a bit flat. I do wish it had hyper-scroll! It sux that a premium mouse originally at $150 - However I paid $107 for a used like new on Amazon. BTW if I got something from Amazon's warehouse it has always been better than I expected. I bought a pool pump, it was supposed to be "used like new," it had absolutely never been opened. Sweet! - But in 22 it's amazing that it doesn't have hyper-scroll included. My G900 does and well every mouse I've owned since IDK decades ago, If a mouse didn't have it I'd just normally go somewhere else. There isn't much use for it in gaming (Fortnite currently) so I can live without it since it has the 12 buttons, but the 900 just has a button to engage it or not, so... This has a button where that would be but is the button for the DPI which can be changed to anything supposedly, can on G900. Feels nice with the L 'n' R clicks and stuff they almost have like a soft click. The wire really feels like a limp piece of string, far more flexible than any other wire on anything I'm aware of. Hope this doesn't mean a shorter life! It's like regular braided but the wires inside feel thinner and the cover is loose like. It does work well, and since it will only be for charging it's Okay, still don't know if this can be charged off mouse pad, but guess that's it for first impressions of the "world's most important mouse of 2022." Whoa just got to using the software to change lighting and 2/3 of the lights are on the bottom??? Very strange! You can't see them! IDKY they aren't up top; with the openings you could see them through the case holes, but nooo. SMH. Well you can always pick it up and look at them! Yay! GJ SS! Finding the button configuration software was a bitch! But it is here in this DL under the engine subheading -- steelseries.com/gg It had firmware updates to both dongle and mouse and at first glance the software looks pretty complete, if not a little bit awesome. Going to go play now, hope this helps. See-ya!

Years have gone by and I've yet to find an MMO mouse that can replace my old Logitech G600. I really wish Logitech could just snip the cord off, update the buttons/switches, and give it a better sensor. Other than that the form factor and layout has been perfect for me for a decade now. One of my favorite features is the extra button for your ring finger. Depending on what I'm doing or playing, I can bind it to interact, reload, alt/ctrl, push to talk, ect..

don't bother buying absolute shitty left mouse clicking AKA 1. press it and it clicks normally 2. IF u apply more pressure it goes even more down with clunky sound?????? wtf unless this is some "feature" failed product else have fun playing games that require long periods holding mouse button down (like PoE) and you will go crazy with "double click range" 2/10 rip 120€

I use the Logitech G600. It's huge, chonky, has a ring-finger button, and its $40. The 12 side buttons feel great, they're not cramped, it feels good in the hand, but it's heavy as fuuuuck and all that weight goes to my pinky. I would love for logitech to give it a lightweight redesign because other than the weight, it's a perfect mouse *for me*. I don't even play mmo games, i just like not needing to move my hands away from the wasd area. I remap the 6 key to r for reloading amd rebind keys in game to whatever i need them to be and its great. I just wish it was so much lighter

I've been using the Logitech G600 for over a decade. The left click started to glitch, so I went new mouse shopping. This is a cool mouse, but it no world is it $100 better than the Logitech. You can pick up the 3 of the Logitech's for the price of one of these. I will say, after buying a new G600, that they're not built nearly as good as the old ones. No braided cord, and it just feels cheaper. In the end, I just went ahead and soldered a new switch in my old one. Now it's good as new.

Picked this up on discount after being a religous user of the razer naga series since 2011 as an MMO player, I was starting to notice some wrist strain from how heavy the naga is so I figured I owuld give this a go. The weight difference is immediately noticable, I prefer the 12 button layout as well. I do miss the ergonomic shape and mechanical buttons for the 12 button grid on the naga though, but the tradeoff was worth it for me.

I still use my naga 2014 as my only mouse. But ou want to avoid using those mice for FPS tho as any push of the side button will move even so slightly your aim. OKish for solo campaign, big no no for competitive. I just don't use the side buttons when playing FPS.

I use the Logi "mmo" mouse and I love. Took the weights out of it. I only use about 4 of the side buttons during most games, but it's great. I put any "hand items" on the mouse; reloading, interact, skills, lethal grenades, etc. and then I keep my left hand for movement. Am I any good at games? No.

I'm looking at moving to this from the Razer Naga. I've had a number of Razer Nagas but they always stop working after a year or two. Plus it will be nice to get a wireless one finally. I'm super glad there is finally an MMO mouse without the stupid fat width you get from the 'pinky rest' Why do all moba mice have pinky rests. I hate the pinky rest.

Unfortunally Steelseries releasing the same products with some butons here and there. They have one of the best keyboards the apex pro and its 3 years old now. They sould made an update version of it. Like apex pro silent mode, or apex pro with all keys have omni point switches. And regarding the mouses they stopped making big mouse anymore and the still advertise rival 650, again an 3+years old mouse. Please if you read this steelseries, make a new version of keyboard and a mouse like rival 300.

the logitech competitor to this is not the g602 or the g604 as he mentions in this video.... its the g600, and i dont really like this guys review, seems paid for... i am a steel series fan boy, but i would like someone who uses mmorpg mouses to review this, not a fps user stepping out of his depth... i do still appreciate the review, just again, seems sponsored. I am a bit suprized that he is an FPS player, but didnt include the wireless speeds. I want to know the input lag on this being as its a wireless mouse and how it compares to others. that is one of the BIGGEST factors when it comes to fps and wireless mice, as well as just wireless mice in general for gaming. the position of the buttons is the most common placement, having 1234 on the bottom row is not a good idea, and no mmorpg mouse has done that successfully cause it isnt practical. I also wish he would have done a side by side comparison with the other mmorpg mice. but again i guess that would be pointless being as he is a fps player. thanks for the review none the less!

Can't believe you can recommend this mouse even after using logitech and razer. The side buttons are borderline unusable, way too stiff, narrow surfaces of the buttons making it even harder to press. The side buttons are trademark for MMO mouse, if that fails, it loses the identity, making it just another mouse. And given the insanely high price tag for this, this mouse is a failed product.

The idea of having so many keys on the side of the mouse like that makes me think it'd be prone to mis-clicks, but at the same time, as a War Thunder player, this would make it so much easier for me to setup key bindings in a sensible manner, especially as a someone that likes flying helicopters in the game and makes use of additional keybinds.

As an fps gamer that bought a wired Naga trinity 3 years ago I can say without a doubt that 12 buttons on your mouse is unfair I primarily play tarkov and use my side buttons for meds crouching prone and switching guns this leaves my left hand to move reload run and use my inventory I never run into the problem of not having my fingers in the wrong spot at the wrong time

this actually appeals to me as a video editor! i've been using the corsair scimitar with those 12 thumb macros for 3 years, and it's alright. but after trying lighter mice, it's a bit dummy thicc these days and the wire doesn't help. i do wish the side buttons were textured; the corsair scimi has alternating textured rows so it's easier to recognize the buttons. but not a dealbreaker--when you use these types of mice, there is always a unique learning curve you gotta drill into your head! the price isn't.. great. but for what it is, it's not horrendous. will DEF look into this! 🙌

About 6 years ago I wanted a Logitech mouse but it was out of stock so my dad got the corsair scimitar pro, at the time I said "why would I need 12 macro buttons" although now I can't live without them. My mouse is starting to have a few hiccups, left click randomly unmapped itself when I was playing halo, and the scroll button died 3 years ago so I've had to remap it to the 6 key and overall the mouse doesn't start up with windows sometimes. I was gonna buy the same mouse or the updated model so I can use iCue4 cuz mine doesn't support it but considering I don't have many corsair products anymore so this may be my new mouse weighing it WIRELESS!
